We had this LP when it first came out 1975 listend early morning, afternoon and late at night till daybreak... can't tell you how it was so unlike the neighbors music... its alive with deep, deep belief in the feeling of super power and peace... I'm revisiting my 21 year old man
I was listening to the whole voyage of the acolyte CD on Christmas eve 2018 - awesome - been listening to this lp since it came out - faded this out to listen to some Jean Luc Ponty - had to come back to it - awesome track. Peace goodwill towards all creatures.
I've got this 2005 Steve Hackett reissue, too! It's absolutely superb!! Bought the LP version, way back in July, 1982, as well. It was not long after my 18th birthday!!
I love Sally Oldfield voice.
The ultimate version of this great masterpiece!!!
I prefer the original 11:45 version that made it onto the original LP, but I like this "Extended Playout Version", too. All primo stuff!!!
Bravo, Steve Hackett (12-string guitar) & Sally Oldfield (vocals)!!!
I had loved this Sally Oldfield

John Acock - acoustic piano, Elka Rhasphody synthesizer, Mellotron, harmonium
John Hackett - ARP synthesizer, bells, flute
Mike Rutherford - fuzz 12-string guitar, bass guitar, bass pedals
Johnny Gustafson - bass guitar (6)

Sally Oldfield - vocals (8)
Recently got Hackett's Hammersmith show -- fantastic. His leaving changed Genesis forever -- not Peter Gabriel's...
+Rezz Atrana Correct. They made one excellent (Trick of the Tail) and one very good (Wind and Wuthering) album after Gabriel left.
They made nothing remotely as good after Hackett left. His solo stuff is much better.
+Brent Bollmeier Or maybe Genesis were going to change forever, hence Steve leaving?
His stated reason for breaking out was that after making this album and some of his tracks getting passed over for Genesis albums (e.g. subbing "Wot Gorilla?" for "Please Don't Touch"), he felt more constrained and wanted to break loose and go solo full time.
Hackett has justified his departure from Genesis with the sheer quality and quantity of work over 40 years. His work ethic is amazing, always touring with his band. An outstanding musician and writer and in my humble opinion, as gifted and talented as his Genesis peers.
It was a combination of Hackett's leaving and Banks/Rutherford's decision to tone down the art-rock aspect of Genesis' legacy. Banks and Rutherford were the main composer anyway after the departure of Phillips.
This is a Genesis album as far as I'm concerned.
This blew my soul gotta rest now
this is awesome great work !!
More Genesis is not possible! Fantastic!
Drums well at the front line as neo prog rules today. Fantastic Phil Co!
Veiling the nightshade bride stalks a flower revealed
Nearing the hour make haste to their threshold concealed
Lost in thought in search of vision
As the moon eclipsed the sun
Casting the same steps glimpsing his own fate to come
Melt in the dream void from which he never can run
Lost in thought in search of vision
As the moon eclipsed the sun
Tears fill the fountains breaking their promise to heal
Rippling the waters mirror an ended ideal
Deep in thought but robbed of vision
As the moon eclipsed the sun

Yeah, as I was listening to this, thought to myself, this is where Eddie got his 'Eruption" from. Can picture Eddie practicing for hours trying to get this down on his Guitar.
