    One mental trick I use to get through evening hunger: I tell myself tomorrow. Tomorrow maybe I'll eat cake, alfredo, a huge gooey grilled cheese, pancakes soaked in butter, etc etc. I don't say no, I say tomorrow, then tomorrow I say tomorrow again. For TODAY I will eat clean and fast. This really works for me.

    One of my biggest tips that helps with satiety 4.5 years in is that I try to eat my two meals a day (TMAD) slowly. My eating window is 6 hours on average and my goal is to open that window with a 30 minute meal and close that window with another 30 minute meal. And I DO watch tv or read while I eat because I often eat alone and for me it adds to the enjoyment (especially at lunch). If I eat too quickly I am not satisfied but the same portion eaten slower makes me feel like I’m not depriving myself. For me, the enjoyment comes in the time spent eating, not just the portion size. That said, I eat two generous meals a day, on a dinner plate that’s full yet not “piled high”.
    Oh, and variety is KEY! My lunch often looks like a grazing/snack plate. It’s a delicious meal I look forward to! I try to get as many textures and tastes on the plate as possible…some examples I choose from are a couple high quality cookies, something pickled, a taste of chocolate, a few cubes of cheese, a handful of nuts, a mini yogurt parfait, a couple scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, a little rotisserie chicken with bbq sauce, mini cup of soup, small salad…anything to give variety or protein (that’s also quick and easy to plate) helps me feel satisfied.

      Oh, that's so odd. I can watch TV when I eat, but I can't read and eat. My food is gone before I know it. Something in my brain disengages from the food.

    I had a baby 9 month ago and gained a lot during pregnancy. I've been intermittent fasting (16/8) consistently for the last 4 months and it's helped me too lose 40lbs. No OMAD or Keto because it wouldn't be sustainable for me in the long term. I just track with myfitnesspal, keep my carbs lower and eat at my deficit. *I also exercise several times each week. I'm going to continue doing the intermittent fasting even when I get to my goal weight because there are so many health benefits aside from weight loss.

    One of the reasons I think your channel has been so successful is that you do not try to tell people that your way is the only way to fast. I do love your approach and ii is basically what I do, however so often people giving advice are the very reason that many people fail at fasting. They have rigid ideas of what fasting is and if one cannot achieve these, it makes them feel like they are failures, and they give up. I love that you encourage people to try different windows, tools and to see what works for them. I think everyone is different and need to find what works best for them. I'm so glad you started this channel, thank you.

  • @indikom
    @indikom Před 2 lety +9

    I have 4-year experience with IF, but I stopped calling it IF - I just don't eat after 3pm and that's it. I don't change the hour - 3pm is the moment when my stomach doesn't get any food. My organism in some way "remembers" that it can't get any food after 3pm, so it doesn't send hunger signals after 3pm. I stopped calling it fasting because it's not a struggle in any way. I don't think about it. I just don't feel hungry after 3pm. So whenever someone asks me what I am doing, that I'm slim, I just answer that I don't eat after 3pm.

    I just found you and have begun intermittent fasting (again). When I first began my working career, I never ate breakfast or lunch. At that time, the late 60’s, I had never heard of intermittent fasting. It just seemed an easy way to eat what I wanted and maintain a healthy weight. Gosh it's so true about the black coffee tip. I actually tried IF back in 2020 but didn't do well on it because I hadn't gotten used to drinking black coffee. So I took it slow and adjusted to black coffee over a long time period and got to the point of where I prefer black coffee now. When I gave IF another go this year I was able to succeed because my body was so adapted to the black coffee that it was easy as pie and I finally begin to succeed on my IF journey.

    It just takes one small change in lifestyle to create a domino effect on the rest of your life. A lot of people aren't willing to make that small change. If it was easy everyone would do it. They go through and waste their life without ever finding out what they're truly capable of. So anyone who's here because they have the mindset to become better, even by 1%, you're a champion.

    Thank you for a great video! I would like to add my 2 cents worth. Due to the last 2+ years, not having anywhere to go or anything to do, I found my self eating all day, every day. My favorite thing was dry cereal or chips. I liked crunchy. Before I ever thought about IF or OMAD or any of that, I made the decision to only eat at the kitchen table. I could eat anything I wanted, but I had to sit at the kitchen table and turn everything off. That alone changed my eating habits within 2 days. I pretty much quit snacking. Then I gradually went BBB&E and OMAD. Sometimes I fast longer.

    I drink alot of water and have also found that oddly enough I have had to get fluids because water also rids you of electrolytes..it flushes you out. I drink pedialyte or I have liquid iv also..and I am just now starting fasting..this is just issuesbi have had from drinking alot of water and working out and stuff.

    Hello 👋
    I have an idea on a video .
    How much water to have with electrolytes.
    I'm starting to notice that if I have to much water I can't keep it need alot more electrolytes.
    I noticed you ad element to a coffee mug ..I'm adding to a liter bottle .
    I noticed diahria with to much water with electrolytes I'm wondering if my body is trying to lower the fluid not the electrolytes .
    I noticed no diahria with less water as well as kess thirst .
    Sorry for TMI ..
    I so glad I found this chanel .
    Sorry

    What is your answer when asked or when people say that eating OMAD will make you store fat, and eating more throughout the bay is best ? I never know exactly how to reply

    Some things I read say "no creamer" and some say a tablespoon of "heavy whipping cream is totally ok"....it's very confusing.

    I've followed intermittent fasting over last 6 months, I was a regular blood donor but since following a fasting routine was refused my last attempt to donate blood. My iron was too low. I was so upset, what can I do to prevent/support this. I want to continue fasting but still continue to donate blood.

      I donate blood regularly as well. I have always made a point of adding spinach to smoothies to keep my iron high enough. Autumn Bates here on CZcams has some great healthy smoothie recipe ideas and for me adding spinach doesn't change the taste at all!

      Same for me, skipping breakfast wasn’t working for me. I just stop eating earlier in the day, I think the “window time” is flexible according to what feels best for someone.

    LOL This electolyte advice is very funny to me because intermittent fasting is not a new thing, it is just the way most people use to eat in the cave man days and even as recent as within the last 40 years. Those folks didnt take electrolytes and they lived long healthy lives so my point is WATER is just fine. This generation has a tendency to overcomplicate everything and its just not that deep!

    • @AkaiOtinashi
      @AkaiOtinashi Před rokem

      Completely incorrect. It depends on a person's diet. If they are not getting proper minerals during their eating window it can cause problems. Cave men were eating 100% whole unprocessed foods. These days most people are not and don't get adequate vitamins, so YES, they do need electrolytes to mitigate cramps, headache, dehydration, ect. If you know what electrolytes do it's common sense.
