i’m starting to watch it now and i was totally unbiased while creating the video hahaha the reason i chose some old videos for ari is that some of her belts were better when she was younger, i used vocals from different eras for kelly too. and i tried to choose similar vocals

flat and sharp could be both bad when hitting a note like "oh she went kinda flat" "that was so sharp" but i think that specific b or # is only the higher version or the lower version of the standard note esp C# is the sharp or higher version of C obviously but not high enough to be "D" and Eb is the flat version or the lower version of E but not low enough to be a "D"
19:08 concerning that, the B "flat" 5, it's called flat because it's a semitone lower than B5, while the "Sharp" like F#5 comes after the F5. hope this helps 😁🫶

no, so if the note that youre supposed to sing is B5 which and you hit Bb5 which is B flat 5 then you went flat cause youre under the actual note and you can often hear it cause it goes against the key of the song. the same for sharp notes. if your gonna sing a g sharp 5 instead of g5 youre sharp. Also note that A sharp is the same as Bb5 but no one really says A sharp or as far as I know. for reference, If Demi lovato sings a Bb5 is the sorry not sorry bridge...the pop version, she would be sharp because she went above the note which should be A5. Atleast thats my understanding.
It kinda makess sense but also no cause the notes still sound good so i don't know! And the demi exemple you said it wrong, from your logic if she goes above the note it would be an A#5 and under the note Ab5! But these never happen so i don't think this logic is correct!
Thats exactly correct A#5 is just the same as Bb5. Same with D#5 and Eb5, G#5=Ab5, etc.
You’re also correct about hitting the note. Example:
I believe the song “Through the Fire” on it’s climax is G#5 (not sure though) but is you hit A5 then you’re sharp, if you hit G5 then that’s flat (unless you adjust the key).
It doesn’t mean there’s “b” or “#” in the note then they are singing flat or sharp. It only denotes “the kind of note” they are singing “not the way they sing”.
