The Española Fiestas are NOT about Oñate. It is about celebrating our culture. All cultures have engaged in war and violence yet this seems to hang over our heads after centuries. This is a bad move, taking our culture away. The new counsel will do a better job and I hope our Spanish culture is preserved.
Not only that. Every single city is proud of their founders. Even if the founder was a terrible person. It's is incredibly stupid, offensive and disrespectful to deprive people of the celebration of the foundres of their city or town. Period.
