This is like those movies that don't make much sense right off the bat, there's many loose ends and plenty of ground for speculation and assumption.
But once the story unfolds, everything begins taking form and paint the biggest picture.
These are exciting times for RS amidst one of the worst content dry streaks, so they're making Guthix really happy.

Something to add on to Krannon being freed from the curse, Jas said she tied the power draw of the stone to their pain receptors.
I think that the Stone, her Egg, was still alive. Stillborn, barely conscious, but alive enough to produce a huge surge of pure/divine anima to power their designs.
My guess is that when someone drew power from the stone, they were literally drawing life from an embryotic elder god still inside the Stone, meaning the pain that the Dragonkin felt could have been on par with the agony that Mah suffered from her whole life. Considering we as necromancers have Threads of Fate to weave the pain one opponent feels with another, I feel Jas implemented a permanent version of this among all dragonkin and the soul of her unborn.
The reason Xau-Tak's influence freed Krannon from the curse is by altering his soul in a way similar to Vorkath's. Once his soul was altered, it made him immune to the powers of the Elder Gods. The question is if we - by practicing necromancy and weaving shadow anima - can some day reinfuse our soul with shadow anima?

Oh wow been watching you for months and didn't realized I wasn't subbed. Fascinated with game lore and Runescapes lore really deep. Still a bit upset that the first time we meet Guthix face to face he's on his deathbed, never to meet his family in death. Loved the whole 6th age. Becoming a Guardian of Guthix, the World Guardian highly resistant to godly magic. The 3 World Events. The Dragonkin and the Elder Gods. Before then all the gods were a complete mystery. Now one of the more interesting things, the shadow, is being explored.
Do you know what comes to mind when I think of this the relationship between matter antimatter and dark matter.
They act as a parallel between the fude between anima and shadow anima so the dark matter would be the something else.
Dark matter the theoretical substance that makes up the majority of the universe like the creeping shadow that threatens to engulf all. the leviathan are merely the fish that swim in this ocean that is Xau Tak

Ungael is not an island. Knowing what it could be is creeeepy. Omg... I can never see it the same again.
Learning the lore of Rasial and Black Hands was the most interesting part of the quest which completely caught me off guard! My goldfish memory probably forgot and if it was mentioned, then woops but now I realized that the threat Rasial mentioned after defeating him could refer to Xau-Tak.
That mysterious relic when examine obviously mentions it is mysterious. Left me more questions :(

A shadow god wars dungeon sounds like a cool place for the story to go. When I played through the quest I was assuming it might be leading up to an ED5 (I might be biased though as the elite dungeons are some of my favourite content in the game currently 😅), with Galvek or even Zorgoth (potentially with a black stone heart similar to Kranon) as the final boss of the dungeon.
i actually forgot to mention ed5 tbh i think its coming too!

Your enthusiasm is seriously contagious, and I think your videos are the ones I look forward to most in the wider Runescape community. I love that you make connections between RS3 and OSRS, that's something that personally always excites me to see, and the cross-pollination between the two game versions will in my opinion bring out the best content from both.
Unrelated but, personally I'm really curious as to why the Citharede Abbey is functional and occupied in RS3 but abandoned and in ruins in OSRS, and when sailing drops I'm sure there will be interesting discrepancies in the Eastern isles too.
Man i get excited for these quests, not mainly for the quest (although it was enjoyable and very cool) but for your breakdown and lore scraps you piece together. I am so excited for the quests coming this year and what you can pull out of them all and piece together. Great stuff!

Very interesting note you made about Ungael being a part of a Shadow Leviathan! I didn't connect this until you said it, but it makes so much sense, especially when you know the locations that Banite rocks are located (I really hope that the Mods make a Banite mining site here at some point). Banite rocks, as implied by the book written by the Fremennik that you mentioned, are the remnants/residue of a defeated/dead Shadow Leviathan (the material itself 'hates' living beings, and can be attuned to hating certain kinds).
It would make sense that, shortly after the Elder Gods created Gielinor, the Shadow Breach opened from Erebus, the eldritch monstrosities inside lusting for power (remember that, at this time, Gielinor was brimming with anima, much more that the present Gielinor; and of course, the Eggs). A battle ensued with an emerging Shadow Leviathan and the four adult Elder Gods sensing its, ultimately leading to the demise of the Leviathan. Its remnants (or parts of it) coils around the northern parts of Gielinor, from the outer edge of the Fremennik mainland and the nearby islands, across then northern parts of Forinthry.
The Elder Gods immediately created the Codex to seal the Breach to stop any further threats. It's no wonder why the Elders were suspicious of mortals, seeing how easily they can be manipulated by appealing to their urges (it appears that the rulers of Erebus are very much aware of mortal urges; it could even be the case that mortals are a by-product of shadow anima seeping into the normal universe - it's said that mortals only ever first appeared in the previous universe, which was also at the time that Mah started to show signs of illness; Mod Rowley stated at one point that one of Mah's roles was to suppress the emergence of mortal life, and it is unknown whether this was deliberate or just instinctively - personally, I understand very well why Mah was targeted by something from Erebus).
so everything you said is spot on - to support though, i actually think the razing of forintrhy was just as much to stop the elders from waking as the leviathons - i found a horrifying piece of evidence since i posted this that shows the black stone may be their egg mater or cocoon material. i believe there is heavy inspiration from Shai Huluud in Dune. but yes u can draw a line from ungael to daemonheim and dont forget the penguins use the shadow realm lmao! they basically terraform their worlds with the shadow its so wild.
