  • Catching a perfect riding day to ride Around the Mountain, Bogus Basin Idaho in Fall can make for a pretty special day off work. This is a long video, but it lets you really experience all this loop has to offer, including the loop extension, which is not to be missed. Logging 11.95 miles, its the perfect combination of downhill and cross country.
This ride starts off slow as you make the initial climb from the Deer Point Express lift at the Bogus Basin ski resort. Riding up the Deer Point trail, its not long to the transition to ATM. Then things really start to pick up, and so does the music!
This is an immersive experience in Around The Mountain (ATM). Ride with us around the entire loop. Once you watch this, you will have experienced the entire loop virtually. While this ride video is condensed into just over 20 minutes, this loop usually takes just over an hour to ride. Its about 10 miles without riding the loop extension, which is a quick right turn as you approach Pioneer Lodge. The extension adds about 2 additional miles, at its totally worth it.
And with the Autumn colors, 60 degree temperatures and views across the Treasure Valley, why wouldn't you take a day off to experience this?
Special guest stars, the guys from work!

how's the rattle on the downhill on that EP8? I'm in Nampa and really looking hard at this bike. Unfortunately, Carls doesn't have demo/rentals...

I will be completely honest with you. My wife and I bought both an HC4 and an HC5 from Carls. I dealt with Sam Smartt, and he and I had very long conversations about this. In all honesty I was very concerned about the same thing. Sam did offer me a test ride on a Hard Cross to verify (parking lot), but I just went ahead with the purchase. I paid a lot of attention to rattle on the EP8. So based on my experience with both the HC4 and HC5 with the EP8, I have never heard or noticed any detectable rattle. In fact I have been very surprised how quiet and smooth this drive unit is. The EP8 is also extremely tunable, and that has allowed me to create power profiles that are extremely good and tailored to my personal preference. I would highly recommend speaking with Sam. He also gave me a really great deal and took very good care of me. I did have some issues with the HC5 outside of the EP8, and he got everything taken care of and I am very happy with the HC5. The HC4 has never had any issues. I have just logged 100 miles on the HC5. Hope that helps!

@@GOATbro_Australia Thanks! I'm going over there today to take a look at both the MC and HC lines. I really like the GasGas ECC models, but they aren't out in the US yet. How restrictive have you found the trails around here are for pedal assist bikes? I ride 29" Niner all over the foothills and Eagle cycle park as well as out in Owyhee's by Wilson Creek/China Ditch. Tested out a Specialized Turbo Levo Comp Carbon, and it was fantastic, but I really can't justify the $8k price tag...
