I love the fact that Chris is so shy, a refreshing change from the 'I'm so full of myself ' attitude with many popstars nowadays . A true talent .
I've always just really loved the contrast between the two. It makes it work. When Chris speaks up you know it's going to be either profound or hilarious. I have met them a couple of times, always have time for their fans and I like that, makes them even more special.
Is Chris more talkative in person?
0:22 "I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind Of Thing" reference haha, good one.
Came here for this comment! 🥰
Hard to believe that this was 20 years ago, and they are still going stronglyr.
37 years or so in the business, amazing achievement!
“That’s why we’re doing this” 😂 ZING 😂
So cute!!! Never thought Chris was so shy!!!! What a sweetheart
Yes, if you watch their interviews, you will see that Chris is very shy and reserved. It is interesting that even after such a long time, he could not get used to interviews, and he has been in the profession for almost 40 years.
It's a great interview coz Jonathan Ross has a very funny, genuinely innocent charm about his questions and Neil and Chris are two of the most genuine, wonderful Pop Stars on Earth!
Well done to Neill Tennant for seeing through the Taylor Swift hype and calling out her music as bland.
0:11 Chris’s face and reaction to the greeting! 😂🤣
He cannot be arsed being there!!!
Хочет спать🤣
Lol he came out yawning
This was a great interview. Neil and Chris are so relaxed and funny😎
The best (genuine) comment: "That's why we're doing this!"
Legendary duo. Way too underrated.
They are far from underrated. They won several awards and sold over 100M records.
@@Rondo2ooo True, but they're never discussed about in GOAT talk.
@rebeltvr6046 Also true. I think they got canceled in the US after the Domino Dancing video in the 80s, and despite their success, they were seen as niche.
Their mid 90+ material is also not that great.
Edit: Typo
@@Rondo2ooo We're on the same page. I agree with you!
All the way in the Caribbean from my country Trinidad the Pet Shop Boys are ..LEGENDARY 🔥🔥🔥
Having a bad day so I needed some Chris and it worked😅 How can an adult man be just as cute as a little kitten?!?
Its funny to find a musician whose normal every day life voice, sounds exactly like his singing voice.
Neil is having a great time! And Chris too 😁
Neil's laugh
What a great duo...unique
PSB best band in the world EVER!
Proper blast from past. I love how different Neil and Chris are, but both are true to themselves and each other 😍
They are so talented.... 💜
First time to see Chris‘ face without sunglasses 😎
Can attract lady's Chris should remain without glasess
And he’s now 66 and still banging out decent tunes
69 now and still belting them out perfectly!
I remember watching this on telly years ago. funny thing is now they are in their 60s now! and still pushing the hits out.
Really love those guys they're proper gents lol
Poor Chris being relentlessly tortured!
lol
Love this band. Wonderfully self deprecating humour.
They're in their forties? Neil Tennant is 68...This program aired twenty years ago then...
Ahhhh a fellow introvert!
LEGENDS
Eeeee..it is more then 20 years from that.....and they are still..among a few of wery best pop bands/duos👌🌞🍾🎶🎼🎵🍀👍
They should've shown that obvious hug between PSB and Liza off the stage :)
He hurt Neil's feelings by saying he was lazy. That was hard for Neil.
Boy Trent it was
@@timothywait9457 no excuse for hurting people.
@@rabscots910 this proves Dawkins wrong
although Dawkins wrong
@@timothywait9457 he was never authentic to begin with. Never honest about his true beliefs. I agree with you :)
Damn, they're so nice and charming. Love them.
Stupendi e simpatici. 😊😊😊😄😄😄😄👍👍👍Chris. Sei bellissimo. Un abbraccione 😀😀😀😀😀👍👍😄😊
Everyone knows Jonathan's a cheeky chap.
my favourite album from Realise is The Samurai in Autumn and Birthday boy Although there all good on all albums from this band
song
I miss Neil's Semi-Caesar cut.
He said to Chris " U write the best lyrics ".. and the camera goes to Neil. Neil writes the majority of the lyrics - Chris does beats .. boooo!
Wow never knew. They have such deep lyrics
Chris is chris. Shy and charming. Dont ever change😊
Nice to see Chris actual face and seams a charming man to.
to what?
Classic interview.
They were "just another" pop star to me in the 80s, even though I liked the lead's voice and the excellent synth. Then I later admired their work for "Absolutely Fabulous", both because it was good and for a good show. Then I *cough* "acquired" a video of theirs, "Cubism in Concert". I love that they're still so with it, and even then seemed to understand the horrors of globalism that the world's experiencing right now by all the leftists... ...but thankfully, the populists are starting to rise, dragging them into the light. ... ...oh damn... went into a little rant there...
I read an article that they were on the left themselves. I mean It also makes sense because they are LGBT and the right usually are against LGBT.
Damn... almost 20 years
I went to Arnold School in Blackpool with one of the PSBs.
Squirmy interview. They like having a bit of mystery about them, especially Chris, but this interviewer is trying to probe beneath the veil a bit too assertively in his eagerness to get laughs. It is easy to see why the Boys have such great creative chemistry. Neil is able to easily tap into his own vulnerabilities (or at least his lyrics suggest that; how many bad or annoying love affairs fill the pages of this man's personal journal?) while Chris plays the detached "I don't give a damn about all this crap" role. He appears to have been rousted from bed moments before the interview, LOL. Meanwhile, their usual brilliance shines forth in the ironically titled newish album "Hot Spot", which contains a familiar mix of compelling tunes along with a few clunkers. One song, however, stands out as it pulls off the curious and unlikely hat trick of all but prophesying the impending pandemic and economic crisis while still sounding like a buoyant PSB dance club record. It is called "Happy People"(living in a sad world) Even better than this track is a B side (which is much cooler than a few of the cuts that made it on the album) called "At Rock Bottom", which seems to expose the dark side of the disco ball or just life in general. Nevertheless, the album is a must have if you are, like myself, a long time fan.
you want Mystery. two words... DAFT PUNK
Hot Spot is amazing, im obsessed
It's good to see Chris smile, though.
У ведущего ЯЗЫК БЕЗ КОСТЕЙ
Raised, yes. And he threw on his shirt haphazardly, just a T-shirt on top so that it was not visible. Sleeves not fastened😄
Love Wossy
Fantastic
Bom demais, gênios
Spectacular .
Awwwww Chris is a dish😘
you from chicago?
@@Engelbird no I live in Adelaide Australia
@@joannekinsella9904 oops! sorry. i went to school with a Kinsella.
Poor Chris!
Hannah Costanzo i know John is so in your face and probing
is the home and dry preformance on here too ?
Is that Henry Caville (Superman) sitting on the couch with the PSB? If so it would be their second interview with him as a guest.
And also not the more comfortable moments for them...
That wasn't Henry Caville by the way.
were all knocking on
Legends.
Oyeah.. I love the Boys from 1986 😅
the wouldn't normally do this kind of thing.great name for a song.
Legends
Actually in the 80s they looked like 18years old or something but they started they career not so young. Neil had 31 when they become world wide famous with west end girls and chris had 26. But they were so good looking and like cute, they look so young like those teen idols teenagers love to dream at, so i guess jonathan fell it was cool playing with their age and their physical changes because oh boy they were just too handsome
Love ya PSB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When did this air?
2002. ✌️
Godzilla 78 👍 Thank you 🙏
The music and song is UFO 👽 technology excellent 👌 beautiful coffee ☕ time alternative...
There the best of the best number one ❤
Lots of Love to you ❤Marie🥰Sweden.
Someone can explain me what does Chris say at 4:12? Sorry, my language is not english and they speak very fast.
He says: "Oh, the stakes are higher. We're (I didn't catch that word) to work a lot harder at the moment. That's why we're doing this." However, I'm not a native speaker either so I just hope I got it at least a bit right 😅😂
Btw the auto-generated subtitles say that the word I didn't manage to catch is "offering"
@@snakesvii5747 Thank you very much!!!!!

Wait why was Liza Minnelli there? Was this a PSB-themed night?
Try listening to what PSB is saying, if your u didn't hear it I'm not telling you 🙄
liza manely so cute
they the neil and Chris would need a joint and a valium after him or more grog
Johnathan Ross is so probing and intense
and waspish
Are PSB an item? Is that part of the success and long-running performance. There's give-and-take in these promo appearances. Beware of introverts... they can speak volumes in very few words.
Lucile Austero. Careful, love don’t fall over.
And last lm hear sound chris 39 hes silent...
Jonathan Ross and Bryan Ferry look alike a lot.
misleading title, great interview, know your history and know how brits interact with each other and take the piss. the title was more like click bait.
Talented guys, I’m glad they just bounced Ross’s constant fishing into touch , he’s fricking annoying
Daz or Darren
john ross likes this band to
chris wears a tshirt over a business shirt ? why not ?
Трусы поверх брюк слава богу, он ПОНИМАЕТ, что не надо. Это ВКУС
If Neil said he was 47 thn this must be at least 15 years ago or more, he's now got a Bus Pass he's a OAP 60's no hair!
this is an old interview
Sometimes Ross takes the piss too much which kinda ruins the interview.
ok tv
This is Liza Minnelli, I remember from a collaboration with PSB
i recon they would jump at the chance to work with her again,

I love the Pet Shop Boys. This burgundy studio color is just horrible.
Ребята постарели
Это они еще молодые были по сравнению с сейчас.
When Jonathan Ross didn't reel himself in following the Andrew Sachs thing. He used to be good.
