Hazuki joked that the working title of this song was "Tendonitis". They're doing a show Aug. 16 celebrating Hazuki's birthday and a 3rd EP. And in Oct. a show with Takayoshi Ohmura (of Babymetal's Kami Band among other distinctions) and his band. Ohmura and Li-sa-X are buddies and have performed together before (with the great Senri Kawaguchi guesting with Ohmura's band on drums). I'm going to the Aug. show and want to go to the Oct. show. Following the music scene in Japan locally can be expensive-but well worth the financial pain.

About Kanade Sato (drums) - she's (usually) a jazz-fusion drummer, and one of the most promising young drummer in Japan. She also plays with RIE aka Suzaku (as support and in their band Muses). All-star band indeed, and having Wakazaemon guesting on bass is the cherry on the cake - did you already heard her with Marty Friedman (she's her bassist)? she's freaking good! "a Frankenstein of a structure" "Bipolar" "song with mental issues" is hilarious ... and spot on, and I totally love it. I hope this is the kind of musical path they'll keep on exploring.

@@michaelthain4488 Most likely because it is self-produced. The band is really new, so they don't have a lot of money and are basically self-producing/self-releasing. Printing those copies isn't cheap and typically is done in bulk. So in a lot of cases, those releases are just pre-order only basically. In comparison, East Of Eden is backed by Victor, which is a pretty big label since they are under JVC (btw, Victor doesn't like reprinting either which was clear with the older Gacharic Spin releases under their label). I noticed Toranoko Rammy had a live DVD out early this year, just saw it on an online shop yesterday, and it was sold out as well since it was sold on their own store which has 0 items currently. It's basically the same thing there, you might be able to get it second hand or from a (not too crazy) scalper. It's not impossible for Koiai and Toranoko Rammy to reprint (Hanabie did with their first album), but it's not very likely. An other great example is Unlucky Morpheus, their old releases are basically gone as well.

@@michaelthain4488 Yes, that one was gone pretty quickly. I was lucky that I grabbed it when I just got into the band a couple of years ago and it wasn't out for that long back then and had no clue it would be gone quickly. But I didn't grab their 10th anniversary 4-disc best-off CD back then because I didn't realize what type of content was on the Blu-ray and they are now going for multiple 100's of euro's (and I saw it for 70 back then). I am still kicking myself for that. I have gotten my hands of most of their released live DVD's (just missing the first anniversary show) but a couple of them weren't cheap and I got very lucky with 2 of them because I got them way under scalper market value by pure accident. Those first releases (that goes for the CD's as well) were also self-released by Gacharic Spin and I still have no luck for the older CD's unless I want them well-used (which I rather not if possible).

Lisa - X first appeared on CZcams as a 7-year-old playing the guitar, she first got a lot of attention after uploading a racer - X cove of "Scarified" Paul Gilbert made a video asking her to join his guitar school for free. It does sound like a lot of her guitars sounds are straight out of the 80s.

Koiai means Deep Love, or Deep Indigo according to Lisa-X. My reference is their India tour documentary video on CZcams and Instagram. These two meanings are also are the titles of their first two albums. Apparently, it is one of those Asian words with multiple meanings. Love the band. They are generally softer, or perhaps a little poppy, so this one surprised me in composition. However, all of them are top shelf musicians that were unleashed a little more on this track.

    • @otobokegaijin6218
      @otobokegaijin6218 Před 22 dny +6

It has to do with the homophonic readings of different kanji characters. "Koiai" can be written
      濃愛 meaning "deep love"
      濃藍 meaning "deep indigo"
also, 恋愛 which is normally read "ren ai" and means "romantic love", but an alternate reading of 恋 is "koi".

I thought you had seen Li-sa-X Band? with singer Rina (before Kotono came and they changed name to Koiai).
Anyway, half of the awe I get from LisaX is how prodigious she was/is. Paul Gilbert (of MrBig and RacerX, which inspired Lisa’s stage name, nearly same pronunciation) discovered her on CZcams at age 8(2013 I think) and publicly offered her free instruction. She was signed to Sony by age 11 for prog instrumentals. Polyphia joined her for their first Japanese tours (2017?age12?) and had her join them onstage. Kiko Loureiro(Angra, Megadeth) published a practice method based on hers.
I think it was 2018 when she was 13 that Hazuki [& Narumi, both from Disqualia, Narumi’s album The Seed same producer as Lisa, and original Lonesome Blue member] first joined LisaX, well over a year before Nemophila, and has wisely stuck with her. I’m sure they all learn from each other, it’s rare air, who else will teach them?!
So, my point: Lisa might seem young yet experienced. But it truly blows my mind that she was doing the Satriani thing in 6th grade, putting out mature fusion in 8th grade, slowed down (LisaX Band only released 4 songs while she was in high school), toured Asia/India before senior year, then released this live video album (sold out in 36hlurs or some such), but even in this video (Oct 2023) she was only a few months out of high school, age 18.
Tons more to her resume, enough for now. Besides all 4 LisaX Band songs, I also recommend Koiai covering Dirty Loops covering Hikaru Utada’s hit Automatic. czcams.com/video/2njAh58OA10/video.htmlsi=JQNm5BgT5OB5fFK6

This combo with Waka can be epic, going Worldwide (i.e. an electronic billboard going rn on the 10 freeway in Banning, CA.). Koiai (coy-eye) meaning can be deep/dark blue (indigo) or deep love.

Both Li-Sa-X and Kanade Sato were basically child prodigies on their instrument and both were already known from a very young age because of the internet. Both started performing (not playing their instrument) in their early teens (maybe before in Li-Sa-X's case, I believe she got signed by Sony when she was 12). I know Kanade Sato joined her first band (Ear Candy Jazz Factory) when she was in her mid teens. She is also involved in an other jazz fusion band (Muses) and plays live and on albums for Rie a.k.a. Suzaku, who is also one of her bandmates in Muses but typically is a metal/hard rock guitarist on her solo albums. Li-Sa-X and Kanade Sato are both in their early 20's now. Btw, both Koi and Ai means love in Japanese (I am pretty sure with a slightly different meaning), not sure if it has a meaning together or if they had an intention for the name though. I have a feeling they had to change the name "Li-Sa-X Band" after Li-Sa-X left Sony (and when their old vocalist stopped and they replaced her with Kotono).

(There is four videos available of that in CZcams) She is not like us mortals in any way - perhaps from the same planet as 'superman'! :D Earlier I thought Kanade should leave 'Muses' and maybe keep 'Ear candy jazz factory' as side project and join some international top musicians. But this bunch of musicians already have very, very much potential, so maybe this is just the perfect place for her!? I think KOIAI might be the best bet for Hazuki, professionally speaking. I think Nemophila are having trouble fitting one guitar where there was once two. It's sad, but I don't know how they make the old stuff work without it sounding underpowered.

Let them worry about that 😉 Although I do slightly prefer Koiai, I’m afraid they have a longer road ahead before they get the momentum as a popular project that Nemophila has.
