Superb defensive slices from Wang Yang, it is a treat to watch the old style of play. Obviously he has worked on his game for a long time, and it was a treat to watch the game and how he has controlled it till the end. It was more like French Open in Tennis, with lots of rallies and then aggressive opponent has eventually given in to more skillful opponent.

Those two are fun to watch, especially when they switch roles. When WY turns into attack mode, he tries to punish Gauzi AND break the ball. Gauzi's lob game is still on point.

the moment when wang figures out in the last set to put less back spin on his receive or switch it up a bit was the point it was over for gauzy. very nice game.

beating gauzy isnt easy...n althouhh i find wang not as good as filus,somehow he managed...even without attacking with short pips

Good match - Gauzy's frustratation was visible on more than one occasion 😀. Wang could have won this sooner if he had BH attack capability in his arsenal (like Joo, Filus, et al).
Completely understandable considering how lucky wang was. Also he simply didnt apologize for like 75% of hia net or edge balls which is just super bad sportsmanship

He is actually capable of a pretty good backhand loop kill, but his tactics is like this, chop and trick his opponent into unforced errors or weak returns for his monster forehand. And, whatever rubber he uses on forehand, it has a pretty hard sponge, so it is may lack control for backhand attacks at the table. Yet, he rarely even flicks/smashes with his Spinpips, while he has often plenty of opportunities during his matches. As you mentioned Joo, Wang Yang actually attacks from backhand about as often as Joo did :)
@@ktosomcosom19 ok, I didn't know that, because I didn't see a single occasion when he went for the BH kill (there were plenty of opportunities). I guess he doesn't twiddle much (at least not in this tournament).

ce match fut beau mais la victoire aurait du être pour Simon car malgré les fautes l'énervement , il a su rester patient et jouer de manière réflechis et de manière offensive et défensive quand il fallait tandis que l'adversaire jouait la défense et a craqué plusieurs fois sur plusieurs balles voir en panique

Das wäre auch für wang ein Nachteil. Kein Profi würde so etwas bewusst tun, gerade bei langer Noppe ist eine hohe Rotation des Gegners wichtig, leere Bälle sind da viel zu gefährlich.

Gauzy lack power on forehand against backspin
Vas y Simon ! Playing Wang Yang is like pulling teeth, long and painful. In the last set, Wang was provoking Simons mistakes by sub-slicing his shots. That led Simon to overshoot the table consistently. Sad.

@yeah. Absolutely, pips defenders have to be incredibly physically adept, more than long-pips players, or, if they lack some quickness, they absolutely need to have a great touch.
