Honestly I think start up was a good show bc of the story line. But the romance slowed down the whole entire show which made it drag on for way to long. It is overhyped completely. But This show has got me sooo hooked I’m so in the love with the male lead!!! And The female lead their character is literally everything!! I love this show a lot.... their chemistry speaks for its self
That's because the main plot in Run On is their romance unlike Start Up. The romance and love triangle in Start Up was so unnecessary. The focus of the show completely shifted due to that.
Like it is possible to make excellent workplace dramas without any romance or annoying love triangles. Just look at Misaeng and Chief Kim for example.

Another part of this scene that gets me is that he is mostly speaking to her politely but when she drops the question he stop using polite Korean and changes to banmal (friendly/informal) Korean saying “I already do”. Showing that he wants to become closer to her, even in the language of his words. *swoon*

Thanks you for this extra tidbit. As non-Korean speaker, I would have never noticed that detail ,since I can only read the subtitles. But that extra fact makes me like that weird guy character even more. But for me, the two female leads in this drama are what made it so great. Fierce, strong, smart women trying to do their best and succeed. And SSK's character is so mature with her open and honest conversations with the male lead. I really like that aspect. I may have to go back and re-watch this wonderful Kdrama series

Normally I hate drunk scenes, but she excuted it so well and was nuanced staying true to her character, which I love. Also the way he looks at her when she says she wanted to see him more (because she sleeps all day and works nights) was already a confession in itself. Beautifully acted and such a simple but lovely scene. Their chemistry is just perfect.

What really amazed me in this drama is how Im Siwan perfectly portrays someone who has calm before a storm type of rage. Someone who's not necessarily bottling up rage but just in a constant state of calmed rage.

They are both good actors and have their own trademark of portraying their characters...both of them acting wise compliment each other,also visually,technically...thats why there is overflowing chemistry...its a joint effort because its a romance drama...however it is ,they really shine brighter in each scene together ...

The fact that the writer of this drama is still a rookie writer is just amazingg!!everything little detailing in this drama,the fun dialogues between characters and even perfect timing and twist,just very very perfectly written.How beautiful,charming in every senses from this drama.Very entertaining and healing in some sort of odd way^^ probably one of the best kdrama i’ve ever seen so far

I like that is a rookie because of everything in the scenario. The position of the characters on the hierarchy, sport, politique and university scream that he/She is done with this shit. It’s also cool to see asexuality and gender study understood by the writer.
The writer is a former junior writer of Kim Eun-Sook. She definitely learned from the best.

2:35 I LOVE how he didn’t hesitate to say “I already do”; and that palpable, heart-fluttering sincerity in his voice. In my view, it means that it’s something he’s been thinking about for awhile, and have already decided - on his own - that he likes her.
It’s been obvious from the start though, there was no need for explanatory scenes. We don’t need to see him battling with his thoughts vocally (like in other dramas), no need for monologues or that typical drunken confession to another friend. From the way Seongyeom treats her, how he seems to be okay with her flaws, the way he cares (especially obvious in this episode), the way he listens to her... the viewers could already see it. ❤️

I love it when actors have the power to communicating through their eyes, and it's the case here. siwan and sekyung can tell so many things even when they're saying nothing, and simple dialogs like that can do such a huge impact.

Can we talk about how gentleman he is? I mean, when she was vomiting she turned around, he took care of her so well and when he said that he already loves her so genuinely I was already screaming like crazy, he is so innocent and cute... my heart melt everytime i see him and an applause for the girl, her acting has improved soo much, these 2 are nailing this drama!

I really don't know why people hate shin se kyung's acting and say that she only has one expression. I can't speak for the past works that she did cause I haven't watched them but she plays oh mi joo perfect to a tee. oh mi joo is such an eccentric role, not the kind of outright crazy, but rather her acrobatic thought process and unpredictable, sometimes unfiltered actions. and yet shin se kyung makes oh mi joo so effortless, natural and charming. oh mi joo is the perfect match to im siwan's character.
EXACTLY! I believe her character so much and she's a natural in this drama. Also how they play of each other is so well acted. I actually went into this drama being on my toes for her acting because everybody said she has no expressions, and so I payed more attention to it but ended up just appreciating her more as an actor instead because she did a really good job at portraying Oh Mijoo.
Ikr. I dont get it why people are saying that she has no expression. For me she is an actress with the most detail of expression ever. If you understand korean, you will figure out how her face features (eyebrow, eyes, mouth, even nose) work for a sentence precisely. That's why i'm amazed. I've watch 3 of her dramas before and i think the best were black knight and run on. She can play both roles beyond my expectation and also the chemistry in both drama was on point✅

I totally agree. Just because we didn't like a performance in a drama doesn't mean that we should neglect and belittle the talent of the actor or actress in question.
Shin se kyeong can be very good at delivering emotions. In Run On I liked her so much (I already liked her). I didn't like one of her dramas because I thought something was missing in her acting but all her works as a whole are well done!
I just want to say that this drama is remarkable. It feels so underrated. The characters are so unique and the reversed gender stereotypes are such a breath of fresh air. Not to mention no cliche kdrama acts like arrogant rich boy comes to the rescue of a helpless damsel in distress who doesn't know how to stand up for herself. No, none of that BS in this drama. This drama breaks those gender stereotypes into pieces and chews them up. The plot is so simple yet meaningful, and the characters paint the pictures with beautiful soothing pastel colours. This drama has even topped some of my most favourites kdramas in 2020 with only half the amount of episodes being aired.
Also, shout out to all the translators of any languages out there. Thank you for all your hard work. Though translators don't get enough credit sometimes and viewers take their work for granted, I'd like to acknowledge all the time and effort translators have put in in order to do a good job. ❤️
p.s. Mi-joo's messed up sleeping time was SO relatable because that's how I've been living for the past 2 years since becoming a freelancer 🧟♀️🧟♀️ #SadSubtitleTranslatorLife

@@ascella3103 Perhaps, i guess. You may be right. Because from what I've noticed, even through Run On, that some still couldn't accept the unconventional thinking or actions of our leads. One of the example is when Mi-joo didn't act the way female leads usually would. She put herself first instead of being a pushover, and people started calling her selfish because Seon-gyeom will be heartbroken.
Fortunately though, I think there are still a lot of people who are actually tired of watching cliche characters too. The only reason they are still watching those same old plots is because that's what most kdrama writers are providing.

This drama is so beautiful. The characters, the dialogues, the beauty of communication between the leads, their chemistry and just the way everything is executed is so Charming and heart warming. You got 2 love stories, bromance, sismance. No unnecessary drama and misunderstanding. Quirky realism, funny, fluffy, slice of life, so many life lessons and messages. what more do you need. An amazing feel good drama that is more and more addictive every episode.

instead of saying "i like you too" (what normally people would say), seon gyeom said "i already do"....its the simplest of words yet holds such a meaning behind it because in my opinion, those words isnt like an instant thought "oh, i think i like her", its more of this prolonged liking/love that he has for her thats been growing and this everlasting feelings for her...and that is why every time i hear this song, it hits different for reals...brb gonna cry in a corner and think about that scene..

I was caught so off guard with this scene. He executed that line so perfectly. I've watched so much dramas and this is honestly one of the best confession scenes. It wasn't awkward, or cringey or over the top dramatic. It just felt so right. Gosh I'm obsessed. This drama is gonna leave me feeling empty once it ends.

The way Siwan delivers the ‘I already do’ is one of the sincerest most genuine. This drama is soo unassuming in a lot of ways, and if you can’t feel it, it’s not the drama’s fault.
I loved Sekyung's play on her voice tone on this. That part alone was so well-acted. Kudos to the team and man, best chemistry out there! ❤

@@laurapetra5257 nooo the main couple is not boring at all. i think they think 1st couple is boring bcz the 1st couple for me is more matured in terms of their conversation, they way they treat each other. 2nd couple people looks interesting bcz they are more of fun and outgoing couple which is completely opposite to the 1st couple. 2nd couple i think is a typical couple (arrogant ceo and ordinary student). i love the 1st couple more bcz of the things i've mentioned. the male lead is a "boring type" bcz he didnt like what other people normally like for example drinking, watching movies. he didnt know many things and that is the female lead struggles also to understand him. but both of them have a great chemistry. for me, really worth watching. this drama is not only about romance but also teach about self love. which is so relatable to us.

I love his character and Im Si-wan’s portrayal of him. I loved the other cast members as well. I fall in love with just about every male lead character in Kdramas. They are just so sweet, even some that start out questionable will be revealed to be sweet under that bravado they put on.
