Good review , you could have covered more of what it comes with. I could see you were riding the slide stop. I have had zero problems with mine locking open on last round. Thanks for your explanation of why yours doesn't lock open. I like mine. I carrie it, with two 12 round magazine.

I love mine. I just got the Holosun Eps and it has a great co-witness. Big decision to make between carrying this or continue with my x-macro. This is much more compact and fires great.
Just sent mine back cause of countless malfunctions. Yours seemed to run fine except for the lack of slide lock back....my mags didn't eject fully either got stuck and needed to be pulled out. Hope yours serves you well....Good shooting too !!!!

Great review, brother! As soon as I can find one in stock I’m going to grab one. I’ve run the crap out of my Combat Elite and I absolutely love it. I’ve been able to mess around with the MC9 at a store and the trigger feels almost as good as the one in my Combat. I love how all the controls are in the same place as the larger Caniks, making the switch very easy for a familiar shooter. I have the same issue with the slide failing to lock on the last round due to my high grip and double whopper hands, especially on my 43X. Keep up the awesome videos!
Of all the things about the MC9 the trigger surprised me the most, many people pay $$$ to have a trigger that feels this good. They really did an excellent job on it. High grips = low recoil but also no slide lock 😂
It appears it is failing to lock back on last shot. You get an empty chamber click sometimes. That is normally a 115g ammo issue with new strong spring. Locking back the slide while storing the gun normally weakens it enough to fix that. Or just 124g or just more rounds through the gun.
Nah it works when my hands are out of the way, my grip rides high and typically prevents slide lock. It happens on every pistol I shoot, if I move them out of the way it works reliably. This pistol included.

Great video Bro..I have the MC9,I like it’s a little snappy but accurate.Can’t wait for the FN Reflex to drop. Also looking forward to the Walther PPS M3 double stack..My sig P365 9mm with the Wilson combat grip shoots a little better less snappy.
I’ll credit a lot of the accuracy to the trigger of the MC9, they did a great job with it. I’m curious about the FN Reflex and might try to get my hands on one! I think the only other micro pistol I shoot as well as this Canik is the P365!
I like mine and it’s my edc. I have a holosun accs Vulcan reticle. This gun is VERY picky with HPs it won’t feed w a lot of them. Shoot yours with your self defense ammo before your life depends on them
Why didn't you address the failure to lock back? It looks like it happens every time, this is a major failure and you seem to ignor it. I did not see it happen once in your review of the fn509. It makes it apear that you are selling out for Canik rather than doing an honest review.
Noticed that too and was rather surprised. That malfunction i have not seen or read reported on the MC9 too. I've heard of multiple examples of failure to return to battery, failure to feed, failure to eject the magazine.. I got my MC9 about 5 weeks ago and have 1.4k rounds down it. Zero malfunctions in firing it (aside from my holosun 507k battery tray backing out and that assembly went flying under fire in the range lol). My MC9's mags however don't eject 100% fully all the time. It seems when full they eject about 1/2in, but that's the only problem on mine

I did not make any accusations, I said by not addressing the failure that is how it appeared. Weather you caused the malfunction or not I think it would have been better to address it. I am sure others use a high grip as well, mabe this is not the gun for them? Are there guns that work better with your type of grip? I did not mean to insult or accuss you of anything, I enjoy your content and think it was a valid observation.
I bought this thing because it has an ambidextrous slide release. Sucks that it's so low profile and hard to press that my thumb just slides right off of it.
It should loosen up as you get some rounds through and work with it, I’ll take it over a Glock style release any day of the week! Hopefully that’s your only bad experience so far!
I just got my MC9 and I am looking forward to getting out to my brothers to shoot it. I am hoping to make it my CCW if everything runs good for 50 rounds. being in a power wheelchair it should be a lot more comfortable to carry than my current ccw.
So I am about to become a first time gun owner. I want a compact, home defense gun that's fun to shoot. Do I go with this Canik, Smith and Wesson Equalizer, or Ruger security 380? I appreciate your input!
Welcome to the club! I would say it depends on grip strength if you have a weaker grip strength I’d say the Smith and Wesson because they design those to be very easy to manipulate. If that is not the case and you comfortably manipulate the slide then the MC9 is likely the better choice just for overall quality for the price. I strongly recommend finding some gun shops near you and getting your hands on as many as you can to find what you work best with and if they have a range rental program so you can try before you buy that’s even better!
It’s due to my high grip, happens with full size firearms as well. It works consistently when my hands are out of the way. I’ll address it in my full review.
I’ve never had that experience with any firearm and I’ve loaded as low as one round for certain drills. I have however had this happen repeatedly because my grip rides really high interfering with the function of the slide stop. If I consciously move my hands to facilitate lock back they lock back every time.
You never mentioned the slide not locking back after the last round and it happend several times. Mine does the same thing and not happy with that. That shouldn't happen.
I’ve addressed it a lot in the comments here, this happens to me on pretty much every firearm I use because of my high support hand grip, it functions normally if I get my hand out of the way and don’t interfere with the slide stop. Shoot it one handed, it’ll work it’s just a grip issue I’m sure
I've shot this twice and like it a lot, but I'm unsure if I can justify buying it since I already have the Shield Plus and am strongly considering the CSX.
In the hand I think I’d choose the Canik over the Shield plus and definitely over the CSX but I’m just some guy on the internet. I don’t think you’d go wrong with any of them. Seems people are saying there’s issues with the mag release or mags ejecting fully but I’ve not experienced it. We’ll see after I put some more rounds through it for the full review
@@ShinaniGunz I haven't had issues with any of them and IME they've all shot very well for their respective sizes. The one thing I will say about the CSX that sets it apart is that it's *much* easier to rack than the other two, which is a concern for me since I do have muscle rigidity issues. But other than that, they're all great.
Man…. I have 2 gun buddies with small problems with the MC9. One just mailed it back to Cen Arms. Please address the QC problems with a grain of salt..
It’s like that sometimes with new models, I won’t be too critical, in fact I’m planning to reach out to Canik and ask them what their experience with customer reports have been. So far from the comments left by others have been positive as far as their customer service goes.
Canik made it really hard not to love! I’m going to get mine back out for a full review here soon and I’m really looking forward to shooting it some more.

Reviewers all seem to be willing to excuse malfunctions on new guns. I watch videos for information not just entertainment. I think manufacturers need to get with it and stop letting us be their QC.

MaxxTech 9mm, the slide wasn’t locking back due to my hand position. The way I ride my grip it happens a lot to me, of the 50 I put through it I didn’t have any malfunctions that weren’t my fault.

I use the pinky extension on the 12 round mag but if you have larger hands I can see how it wouldn’t provide a sufficient grip since it’s not that large of an extension. With the way the market is going with thin pistols and high capacity I wouldn’t be surprised if they came out with something between this and their TP9, in the Glock 43x range.
No Failures to feed. Curious if that's why the mag was never loaded to max capacity. Canik sent me a new recoil spring, original one "they claim it's to tight" Shot it today it ran better but still a few failures to Feed ?
I would bet you are "limp wristing" and that is causing your FTF's. Not criticizing, just pointing out that this little gun likes a good tight proper grip. Just a suggestion that may help you out with this awesome little gun. I'm over 500 rounds through mine and the only failure it has had was 2 FTF when a friend ran one magazine through it. He had the same issue with my GX4 and I have never had a failure with it either.
@@boblaws9851 Thanks for the tip but I am DEFFINETLY not limp wristing it. A lot of chatter on the internet about this issue with the gun. Talked with Canik they said the reason they are having these issues with the MC9 is due to the recoil spring being to tight. They sent me a new recoil spring and it ran better. Google on CZcams about it and you'll see for yourself. If yours runs 100% you got a Good one. Happy Shooting !!!

All I can give you is my experience with these 50 rounds 🤷🏻♂️. And the slide doesn’t lock back because my grip interferes with the slide lock, happens in almost every pistol I shoot.
If you're causing the slide to not lock back due to your grip, then you should verbalize that. Don't get butt hurt when people bring it up. It's like you want to cause controversy. Very unprofessional.

I've seen several CZcams videos from multiple sources having failures with the MC9. I'm waiting to purchase until all the bugs are gone.
I must be one of the lucky ones! We’ll see how it runs when I get more ammo through it though.

Just my Opinion, Smith & Wesson Shield Plus is the perfect carry gun but with 15+1 capacity can be an all around gun too 👍

How long did it take for you to get the spring from Canik?

All I can give you is my experience with these 50 rounds 🤷🏻♂️. And the slide doesn’t lock back because my grip interferes with the slide lock, happens in almost every pistol I shoot.
If you're causing the slide to not lock back due to your grip, then you should verbalize that. Don't get butt hurt when people bring it up. It's like you want to cause controversy. Very unprofessional.
That’s rather presumptive of you to think I’m butt hurt 😂. Since it wasn’t a malfunction I didn’t think it important to point out but it seems it is something people like clarity on.
