Guy with the MD-11 by far most realistic landing. Must have been a scale competition.
Just a gathering of RC airliners but they all try to fly scale as possible
Looking at the MD-11 bouncing as much as it did reminded me of FedEx Flight 80 that crashed in Japan. If I remember correctly, the aerodynamics of the plane were affected due to the smaller horizontal stabilizers and allowed for the plane to bounce a bit on landing.
@@CPS747-8 it's a little more complicated than that. I have about 8K hours in the MD-11. It can be tricky to land, plane was optimized for speed efficiency not slow speed. Horizontal stab was smaller than the DC-10 but it was also much further back so the longer moment arm requires less surface, plus it was an entirely different airfoil so it worked more efficient than the 10s.
just needs Ryanair logo and it would be perfect.
Flight 80@@EssentialRC
Isn’t it amazing the real DC10’s have done the same thing on a bounced landing.
That's what happened at Fedex on NRT.
MD11
im getting fedex flight 80 vibes here
@@fishnships9775don’t forget flight 14
Fedex flight 80
The one jet that bounced all over the place... I can't BELIEVE nothing broke on that thing! Looks like it was built pretty solid.
average dc-10 landing
@@WaxYourButt MD-11
MD-10-11 idk
Yea, that would Have been today fatalities.
But it did stay in one piece, credit to builders.👍🏿
Prob built by ex-ryanair pilot
First landing looks so realistic with this ground distance holding. Great job!
L-1011 looks just amazing. Very nice model also the tug is nice fiture.
That MD-11 landing. Even in RC world, it still is a really hard plane to land. Cuz smaller stabilizer.
It's quite challenging to land this plane smoothly, both RC and Real size.
On the contrary, that A330 landing, the classic butter machine even in RC size.
That taxi vehicle might be the greatest thing I've ever seen haha
It’s called a tug
@@nodical802 your mom gave me a tug last night lad
That MD-11 (Martinair) is often what my landings look like in flight sim.
FedEx did this twice too -it's just how you land the MD-11/DC10 at this point
It's hard to land the dc-10/11 due to the smaller stabilizer
7:38 Another butter and smooth landing
2:16 we know what this looks like 😳
Yeah, reminds me of FedEx flight 80...
And 14
Can’t forget fedex 14
Absolute CRAZY! landing these expensive models on Grass- should be on tarmac!
I love how the comcords come in at a scaled 300kt
An Eastern Airlines L-1011😮 But, the tug stole the show. The Airberlin A330 landing was 🧈
2:18 (best Ryanair landing ever)
Beat me to it...
more like FedEx 80
That tug was the highlight of the show!!
What’s very interesting is what appears to be a scale replica of the the MD 11 and DC 10 landing accidents, bounce and nose wheel touch down forcing an rapid nose rise with forces that resulted in a wing spar failure. You can clearly see the energy in the engine pylons nodding violently.
Was thinking the east same thing when I saw the MD-11 land. The pitch up on landing issue stems from the redesigned smaller horizontal stabilizer on the MD-11. This was to increase fuel efficiency.
Wing spar failure? What🤣
What happened was this. Came in, bounced. When that happens what you should do is not push down on the nose like he did. What you should do is keep some back pressure and add some power to control the sink rate.

2:20 thats the same crash of the fedex 90 at narita in 2011 but in rc awesome !
80 not 90
fedex 80 in 2009
That is a not "FedEx 90 2011", That's a "FedEx 80 2009."

7:40
That one was smooth as hell
It's always a big feat when these scale circle flyers land with little damage
Wow that Eastern L-1011!
7:40 all a330s have butter landings, even rc models!
5:38 Butter and smooth concorde landing
Ive got to admit, the tow tug impressed me
7:44 ahh yes, the A330. Truly the butter machine
Man that DC-10 really did the same stuff as it did in real life
If only full sized airliners could be built this tough: 10:00
He should have gone around and not tried to salvage the landing.
That made me woa
If you slow down by 0.5x speed, you can get an idea about what the worst commercial landings can be like in seriously adverse weather conditions.
2:18 FedEx 80/14 flashbacks...
the concorde landings are insane
The dc-10 landing was the same as the fedex landing failure 😨
I worked on real MD-11s: If you don't get a stabilised approach, you'll do a go around. The aircraft approaches fast and is a bit tricky to land. It tends to pilot induced oscillation.
2:15 MD-11 as designed, has a propensity to bounce no matter the scale...( 2 real world accidents on record).
Almost went down light fedex flight 80
I love this vedo compilatin,,🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍
That a330 landing tho 🗿
The tug was amazing
Seeing these Rc planes butter is every Avgeeks dream
Well that bouncing DC-10 reminds me of FedEx 80
At 2:18 the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 does the same thing IRL. They have to train pilots to throttle up again and ease the nose down because, while the nose gear is touched down the main gear probably aren't.
7:37 the a330 being the a330
Wow just wow !
That eastern L1011-500 is also stunning
2:18 lands like a real md-11, except the wing didn’t come off and the whole plane bursts into flames. That landing made me wince.
Perfect Video
2:15 Big issue when landing a full scale MD-11 is bounce avoidance and recovery and operators put special emphasis on training this as it has led to major accidents.
Well, that one would ave been easily avoidable! The Pilot made one of te biggest and most prominent rookie errors -The pushed the nose down after flaring a bit too much, wich caused the nosegear to touch down first, inducing that violent bouncing!
It's one of the first thing you learn NOT to do - What he should have done is just holding the elevator and nose up, wait till the airspeed drops and tha plane sinks, flare a bit more and voila, nice touchdown.
This was just another proof, that way too many large-scale model pilots simply are bad pilots, that would be better of practisong with simple trainers a little more.
@@florianN132 Oh, you mean practice a bit more because a simple trainer lands JUST like a huge, notoriously hard-to-land tri jet? Na klaaar😉
@@michaelcliffe562 No, I'm well aware that they don't fly the same... But if he had pulled that stupid "oh I flared a bit too much, lets push the nose down while being only inches away from the ground" Maneuver with a simple trainer, he would have gotten the exact same result! Only the damage would have been less severe, probably...
What I wanted to say is that this pilot did a totally unecessary noob error there. Something you should learn NOT to do EVER right from the start. Because it is bad/dangerous and - again - unecessary.
So in order to preserve this bigscale airliner model, he should go back to training the absolute basics with a cheaper/more forgiving (in terms of robustness) plane
Furthermore, I really don't see any reason, why that plane should be particularly difficult to fly/land... I can tell you from personal experience, that RC planes tend to fly nicer/easier, the bigger they get, as long as you have enough space to land them - wich this guy definitely got.
They recreate the crash which involve fedex flight 80
2:18 Practically about every ryanair landing.
Ha ha
You can always go around!
The Rc plane md-11 bouncies landing, like FedEx flight 80 and 14
2:25 is just FedEx's worst landing ever LOL.
Bruh
ALL the passengers on that Martinair DC -10 flight would need a change of underwear after that landing..

i like it when they crash all that money haha
Every ryanair landing

2:15 = FedEx Flight 80
It’s actually replicating a real life crash.
I didn't see not one air liner deploy the ground spoilers and reverse thrust on their landings 😁....but anyway good job guys 👍🏿
The grass strip slowed them down plenty so no need
@@vvvxt That one just flew right over your head, just like an RC airliner... 😅
