I had pre power Rotels for years and tried different configurations of bi-wiring/bi-amping. 1 bloc per channel with normal wiring seemed to work the best with most loud speakers. I only recently got rid as the pre amp was playing up and they were 30 odd years old. Incidentally I had to replace a power amp about 10 years ago and got one from eBay. It come as a pre power combo and the seller had a lovely home In Lancashire. When I went to collect he was having sellers remorse. He’d spent a small fortune on some Naim amps and he said it was the biggest waste of money ever and should have stuck to the Rotels.
    Anyway his loss!!
Love the channel and the rambling reviews 🤣🤣

Stereo Phil is just an old-school analoguist, ie it all turned to sh*t with the advent of the silver beer mat.

I have the Exposure 5010 pre with 3510 Monoblocks and they are superb, much better than Rega Aethos and Naim Supernait 3, which I've owned previously.

I think the dual rca sockets are there to daisy chain more together, 2 or even 3 per speaker in a bi or triamp configuration. It makes more sense than just being there as the chassis holes were already there during production as they’re not even in the same place as the cd player.
Even Audiolab monoblocks have two rca sockets for this purpose.

Yes completely agree with you about Exposure amplifiers. Very good, very engaging and not silly money like Linn and Naim.

These would make a great bi-amp set up with my 2010S

@cheshireaudio, is it possible to elaborate on the sound character differences between the XM9s and their big brother, the 5010s?

Right on the money, the Exposure 2510 I had drove my demanding bookies amazing well at low volumes. Full and fully alive from the very start of the volume dial. Why are you the only one that seems to talk about this aspect of amplification? Only got sold due to a slight dryness in the mids with some speaker combinations + found a great deal on the Rega Aethos. I do still miss the exposure sound sometimes 😊

I've literally just acquired an Aethos 2nd hand on eBay.... But here I am lusting after these! 😂
What source/pre/speakers are you using? I've got a Saturn R and Spendor A6.

@@neil_down_south Congrats! Did you receive it yet? The Aethos is a very special amp and while the 2510 is a cracker, I rate it in a different class for sure. I run it with Dynaudio Contour 20 or B&W Nautilus 805, Rega DAC or Denafrips Pontus, solid core copper speaker cables (always 😃). Works well across it all.

@@neil_down_southDynaudio Contour 20 or B&W N805, Rega DAC or Denafrips Pontus II. The Aethos is a wonderful amp and IMO in quite a different league than at least the 2510.

Thank you for the overview. It's probably an old joke, but Exposure needs more exposure. 😄
I bought the first iteration of the 2010 used and pretty cheap. It was love at first listen. It immediately replaced my Elex-r mk 3.
When it comes to chocolate, It's hard for me to stop, and in my mind Exposure shares that deliciousness, so I had to have the 2510. I ordered it around the 15th of March, and the store I ordered it through said there was a 3 week waiting period, because of a restocking of parts. I do expect it to take a couple of more weeks, though.
    Did some say monos? 😆

Hi there, how would you describe the difference in the Elex r and the 2510? Ive demoed a 2510 at home but with some old mordaunt short speakers. Also demoed the elicit with the same speakers. Found the 2510 really warm but lacking soundstage of the elicit, wondered if this could be made up for in speaker choice? Just wondered your thoughts on the comparison!

    • @roynusser5246
      @roynusser5246 Před 2 měsíci

@@monkeymayor For me, the difference between the 2510 and the Elex-r is tonality. I loved the Elex when I bought it. So energetic and lively. It brought new life to old music. Talking Heads, Crosseyed and Painless sounds absolutely incredible! But after a year and a half, I found it a little fatiguing for long listening periods. I should note, that I listen primarily to digital sources. If you are a vinyl guy, then I’m guessing you’d be very content.
As for the 2510, it just sounds so pleasantly true and lifelike, and there aren’t many situations, if any, where I find it too be too much or lacking in musicality. I think it has a balanced sound with layering, depth and excellent separation without any clutter.
I haven’t heard the Elicit, but if I were to guess about the wider soundstage, it could be because it is a tier up from the 2510/Elex-r, thus more refined. Or that liveliness in the upper-mids interacts more with the room to give a wider soundstage.
Both amplifiers were paired with Linton 85ths and sound really nice no matter which amp I used.
I hope this highly subjective attempt of an answer helps.

@@roynusser5246 thanks for this, its really helpful, and a lot of it resonates with some of my thoughts. At a cross roads with it. I can see how it could be fatiguing, its almost like, yes, this sounds great, and id love to hear a lot of my music on it, but as you say for long listening periods, for me as well might be better. Also saying "there arent many situations where you find it too much or lacking" i think i had this with the rega, sometimes it just didnt sound great, and i dont want to be in a position where im holding my breath a bit before putting on a new record!
The hi fi shop is loaning it to me again with some Neat Petites, to see if it gives me that warmth, but a bit of me feels, the exposure does that already from just the amp.
Re the soundstage you could be right, im also wondering if the speakers could offer that, as it sounded the size of the box of the mordaunt shorts, and maybe some better more equiped speakers can do it.
Anyway, thanks for your response, it was really helpful and good to hear im not going mad, as every one raves about the rega, and there seems little written (in comparison) about the Exposures,

New or old it can all sound pretty good, But when folk are encouraged to pay double for the same set up it just become a bit to much.

Yes, if you need power, you need poweramps, but not in a 2x500w integrated, do they Even make them that powerful? I dont hope so😂

Seems to be a very niche product and very expensive for what it is. One of those products that makes little sense in the long run

Indeed, a little to expensive for what you get...rather small transformer, capacitors are ok I must say 4x 10000Uf, standard parts...but really nothing special 🤷 like the look and small form factor 👍🏻
