Jayco Jayflight 264BH owner review. The case for a simpler camper.

  • I walk you through our 2022 Jayco Jayflight 264BH and talk a bit about the virtues of a more basic, no slide travel trailer in a world of ever more complex and expensive options. I make the case for why less is more and the reasons we “downgraded” to a slide-less, simpler travel trailer. I don’t really touch on all the selling points necessarily but if anyone wants a things I love, things I hate kind of video I could definitely throw one together. Before buying this camper it was hard to really find owner reviews of these things versus some sales pitch type videos. Hope this is helpful.

    Great, honest review, of the 264bh....probably the best on youtube. I also have a 2022 264bh with a family of 6 in MN. We use ours in the winter as well but have the enclosed underbelly. These units do retain heat very well and sip propane. Keep us updated on mods and additions Please...always looking for new ideas.

    I have a 2019 Jayflight 26bh, it has the darker interior and cabinetry above the short queen. Love this thing! My 19 Ram 1500, 11,200 pound towing capacity, doesnt even feel it.
    You got me excited though. I had to run out and check my sofa for the cupholders, no dice. Oh well, happy camping.

    Have the exact same Jayco and am amazed at the value / price point. Definitely a best-in-class unit and great choice for a family.

    I have a 21 foot Jayco and like it. I live alone. But I would love the space in this! For me, the bunk area would be pulled out for storage lol

    We have a family of 6, with yrs 10, 8, 4, and 1, and a boxer. Towing with a GMC Yukon XL, because we aren't fitting into a pickup anymore either, so the no-slide is a must. We are looking to get out of our 16' Starcraft Launch 16RB (we have definitely out grown it) and into the Jay Flight SLX 260BH, and with the 264BH being the same floor plan, your video is very helpful.

      A Yukon XL would tow this well, 1/2 or 3/4 ton. So much sleeping accommodations in this thing even if the kids doesn’t want to share bunks. Good luck!

    I bought the 2019 154bh. Its way better then the new ones. 300w on roof 200ah lithium. Way overkill on the little trailer but i can charge my trolling motor batteries for week long fishing trips

    I owned a 2016 264BH. The problem with the newer year models is the rear storage door hits the bottom bunk glass window. Such a failure by Jayco

    Greetings! I'm interested in the 264bh and i also have a silverado 1500. Stoked to hear towing hasn't been an issue. Which sway control and weight distribution hitch do you use?

    • @Kristian_Saile
      @Kristian_Saile  Před 8 měsíci +2

      I have the Equalizer. It is a little noisy if you don’t keep it lubed up regularly but I get virtually no sway at all. We also have a 19’ Airstream which has a heavier tongue weight than the Jayco and I don’t use weight distribution on since it is so small but it makes the truck move around quite a bit more than the 29.5’ Jayco. But yeah the 264 is a surprisingly easy to tow camper for sure. 👍

    Thank you for your video! We are also a family of 5, and our youngest is about 6 months. Do you think a pack and play could be set up at night in the kitchenette area?

    • @Kristian_Saile
      @Kristian_Saile  Před 4 měsíci

      If you removed the dinette you probably could but I bet it might stick out a bit. We had our youngest in a pack and play with our former travel trailer but that had a slide and a lot of floors space. But I would think you could make it happen in the dinette area

  • @405bassin7
    @405bassin7 Před 7 měsíci +1

    Trying to decide between this one and the new 274bh. What are your thoughts on the couch moving to across from the dinette on that model compared to this one? Thanks.

    • @Kristian_Saile
      @Kristian_Saile  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I think that is a great floor plan. It has a better kitchen layout due to more counter space. I like that shoe storage when you enter with that small counter/storage there. That couch location is likely less in the way feeling of the kitchen than the 264. I think one of the biggest advantages is that shower in the bathroom, it is positively huge. If you are ok with the length and width, I think for the money you get a lot more trailer without a huge weight penalty. We were trying to get below 30’ and the price on our 264 was good enough at the time to be enough for us.

      @405bassin7 Před 5 měsíci

      @justinhall6504 Good! Doesn’t get sketchy in the wind? I have a half ton as well and worry about the 30’ length moving the truck around too much.

      @@405bassin7 We have the 274BH as our first travel trailer ever and pull it with a 2.7 ecoboost F150 and it pulls easy and is within the payload with some margin. We really like it. Blueox swaypro is the way to go in my opinion for WDH.

      Hi. Thinking about purchasing the Jayco 210 SLX with no slide but. It doesn’t come with the underbelly and it’s cheaper. Or should I go with the other version Jayco 212 SLX. That is more money and has the heated underbelly. How do you feel about not having an heated underbelly?

  • @Rank92
    @Rank92 Před 5 měsíci

    Can the ac and heater and other things run from connecting it to a home outlet? 120 electricity?

    • @Kristian_Saile
      @Kristian_Saile  Před 5 měsíci

      Heat can run off battery or plugged into 30amp or a standard 110-120 outlet. The AC really needs 30amp if you are running it for any length of time. It will run plugged just to a standard outlet but it isn’t great for the unit after while and can cause damage to the unit. I do it from time to time but not for more than 30 minutes or so.

    I am renting one of these this spring, I only need to tow it 4 miles with my F150. Would you use a WDH for that short of distance?

    • @Kristian_Saile
      @Kristian_Saile  Před 7 měsíci +3

      The tongue weight is only around 470 pounds so I think you would be fine. With my 1500 Silverado I hook it up and move it around our farm a lot without hooking up WD and the truck sits perfectly flat, no sag.
