Some of it is how to play jazz guitar, but other videos are more on Music Theory like Jazz Chords or advice on how to practice and learn Jazz, on guitar or any other instrument.
The videos are mostly jazz guitar lessons, but also music theory, analysis of songs and videos on jazz guitars.

You seem to be the only one on CZcams jazz who explains that critical Barry Harris idea “Any note can be the chromatic”. It’s gold!! Thanks, Jens.
Things I’ve Learned from Barry Harris channel covers this
The more I see your videos, the more I realize I love jazz so much. Even it's still complicated for me to have the "minimum vocabulary"... But I will! Thanks Maestro!
Great to hear!
It's tre truly truth! Hughs and happy 23!!!!!
Great ideas, not only for guitarists, but for all jazz musicians!
My favorite jazz teacher, ladies and gentleman. Always with an amazing lesson.

This was like 4 videos worth of really great concepts, all strung together, and then applied so they actually have some context and sound good! Cheers and thanks for this!
Glad it was helpful!

Happy to hear that!
What I’ve seen of Barry Harris teaching, it’s really good to have his concepts and ideas explained by someone else! There’s a mini industry in doing that these days, and you’re one of the best at it, Jens.
Glad you like it Ron!
I don't think many other people have managed to stick so much valuable music content into a youtube video, you are a great teacher, thank you a lot !
You're very welcome!
Hat’s off to you Jens. You’re a awesome teacher. Some teachers in my Jazz academy should take lessons from you.

im an amateur trumpet player and I love your you tube posts.
Thank you, Louis! That is really great to hear 🙂
First 20 seconds describes me! Lol. Are you reading our minds? I know those, I can follow chord progression, I can make my own, but it's BORING! Perfect video Jens, exactly what I'm looking for.
I guess, It takes one to know one? 😁
Great video, thanks.
Wow, great advice. My lines instantly sound better. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!

Awesome, thank you!
Thanks Jens 🤒 I look forward to reviewing this video (as usual). When I work on composing lines, I write short phrases out on manuscript - then play them on guitar. That's good for a lot of reasons but it helps to keep me focussed on (trying to) sound like Jazz / Be Bop. I look forward to the day when I have more vocabulary. I pay close attention to notation in your videos (I hate tab) to see what's going on. When I read my own notation it helps me to see if I'm learning / practicing / playing appropriately in Jazz / Be Bop style(s). If I didn't do this, it would be so easy to slip back into Pub Rock / Blues guitarist habits. Take two (2 x 500mg) paracetamol tablets at night before bed. Electrolyte drinks to keep your fluids up. Chicken soup with lots of garlic too.
“I hate tab” - I am with you on that, man. I try to completely ignore it everywhere I see it. There are a few times when it gives some instruction on where maybe somebody decided the best place to play on the neck was, but usually best to come to your own solution on that.
I have plenty of my own transcripts where I’ve penciled in positions on the neck and maybe fingerings, but I was brought up in the world of standard clefs, key/time signatures, etc, and still by far the best way to write down music.
@@artompkins7958 I've seen notation in Jazz texts where position is marked by number - e.g. 7p. for seventh position, 9p. for ninth position and so on. String numbers are marked with a number in a circle. There are a few other playing techniques that go along with this to help play / fret what you read. It makes tab unnecessary. Also, people can use one or more of the scale systems like 3NPS, Berklee or whatever.
This is a great video for bebop jazz guitar. Right at the heart of the sound 👍
Glad you think so!
What is you favorite Bebop Technique? Octave Displacement, Leading notes or something else?

Sorry for the late reply, I had covid :)
hi Jens, would you reveal the type of pickup you mounted on your YAMAHA? I dig the tone....
On the SG1000? They're stock pickups

@@didiercarmier559 I don't have one of those. Is that a semihollow?
Nice blue shirt.
Thanks!
this is kind of the area im working on a lot lately i got the theory beaten into my head now its this type of stuff. i think of it in terms of melodic contour and rhythmic contour. please make another video going into more of this material for long lines. for example im working on lines for {C6} {F#dim7} {Dmin7} {Bdim7} that repeats and cascades through descending drop2 voicings using voice leading and applying the type principles to make melody out of it you suggested in this video here.
i been going through the jazzduets 104 bebop licks and 84 bebop licks, also chad lb videos and yours.
for transcribing i listen to old roy eldrige solos and transcribe by ear, then portions of diz and parker solos i do these things by ear though.

Was hoping we’d get to see that boring 8th note line annihilated in a big explosion.
Haha! Next time! 🙂
Definitely had a "light bulb moment" with this video. Thanks Jens!
You're so welcome!
