Main problem is that they don't use "hot spot" Technology.. It could have easily revealed that bat made contact with the ball

I love to see this kind of umpiring. Where umpire made a technically right decision, the bat hit the ground before ball passes by it, and when the ball passes, there is clear gap between bat and ball.
Today's intl. umpires dont have courage to make such decisions, they will say "THERE IS NO CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE TO OVERTURN". But there was conclusive evidence of gap between bat and ball.
And in the last stood by it ❤❤❤
For those who thinks there is no conclusive evidence for not out
1. Spike seen 1st and 2nd frame (2:35 to 2:55)- notice left side view clear gap between ball and bat
2. Third frame 2:56 Now notice right side view - ball already passes bat
Bat touched the ground but can't it be possible the bat also touched the ball? So there is no conclusive evidence that bat didn't hit the ball?
As Ashwin mentioned, the spike seen can be before the bat actually hits the ball so it's possible the last frame he shows where ball already passed the bat, it's spike was still showing.
He's a professional, has done countless DRS, I'll take his word over yours.

Nobody is denying that the bat did not hit the ground. It's obvious.
The argument is that, it might have still nicked the bat, but the small spike got masked by the bigger spike (caused by bat hitting the ground).
There is no conclusive evidence that these two events could not happen simultaneously.
The gap seen in front-on view is too small. Might be caused by illusion due to camera angles.
The umpire should have checked more angles to confirm this before jumping to not out decision. (Especially if he was relying on that gap to conclude that there was no edge).
@@qexx69no ot did not touch the bat because in the frame when there is biggest spike if u check the left frama we can clearly see gap between bat and all and in the very next frame the right frame show gap between bat and ball.
The third umpire is far better than some of the third umpires in international matches.
Solid umpiring, love how he clarified what he saw the second time over, I didn't even consider the ground the watching it the first time.
Ultraedge should be combined with hotspot...will help in such cases where bat hits the ground.

He recently clarify that drs system is new in tnpl that y he recheck n I don't think he considered himself greater then cricket but I think he stand for what he feel is right

Third Umpire was not sure that the bat has hit ground. If the evidence for out is inconclusive, it was inconclusive for not-out also. So in that case the decision given by ground umpires could have been uphold is what I think. This is same as in LBW if the ball is half way hitting stumps, decision given by ground umpire was upheld. No disrespect to anyone here.
When Ashwin took the review, we can clearly see the spike when the ball is not involved, it was from the bat hitting the ground.
2:37 - The spike with no ball involved.
2:45 - Ball next to bat with no contact, spike can be seen.
2:56 - Still a spike with no ball contact.
The umpire was sure that the bat hit the ground.
U can take that word from Umpire where he told, the spike is because of bat hitt8ng ground. But there is gap between bat and ball in all frames which indicates no bat involved. Then must revert the decision to not out, spike if not because of ground may be someother noice, not relevant here why the spike is, 100 percent all clear ball not hitting the bat, then should be reverting it, that's it

Ashwin sometimes thinks far too ahead of himself and comes second best most of the time.He feels slighted,and at the wrong end of the stick and carries a big wounded ego,by the way he is treated by the selectors,his Captain and coach,and carries that to every match he plays.

If you zoom before the ball passing the bat and after, you can clearly see a change in the ball trajectory and the seem position after it passes the bat.

What?! The 3rd umpire will ask for the front shot twice during the initial review. On the left side you can clearly see a gap between the ball and the bat. The next frame has a front view of the ball when it looks like it touches the bat, but in the side view you can clearly see that the ball has crossed the bat by this time. Please check carefully after 0:55.
No, he did not explain the spike first but later explained that it was bat hitting the ground. So, he was correct. Ashwin did not think of the bat hitting ground scenario and hence was unhappy

I am a great fan of Ashwin, but this was something that 3rd umpire should have clearly told - I ALREADY MADE A DECISION, GET ON WITH IT. In the heat of the moments stuffs can happen, but I thought that was a little poor from Ash. May be he covered in his "Kutty story" later on. Surely he later realized that it was a step too far.
