Currently having the worst period of my self employed life. My back went in September causing my bladder to stop working and a catheter being fitted for a month. Already had a two week holiday to Jamaica booked so that was 6 weeks no work. The next 2 months I had 4 weeks of work and I’ve had 2 days since Christmas! So many jobs have been cancelled or pushed back. Now applying for full time work and will plaster and decorate on the side.

Bloody hell sorry to hear you've had a rough time of it.
Cancellations are so common this is why it is vital to get a booking deposit system set up otherwise people will cancel last minute which can wreak havoc on your schedule and earnings. This is something I help the lads with in the group the system works very well and the feedback I'm getting is incredible.

@@troweltalk2719 alright stu, cheers mate much appreciated. I’ve followed you on here for years. One thing I’ve never implemented is the cancellation fee. I have a payment system set up where I take 25% up front for materials, then 25% payments over the job to cover bills etc, but to be honest, as a one man band, unless you have a lot of contacts or sub through companies, I think it can be very difficult to keep a busy diary and not run into these dry spells. Swings and roundabouts though as January-September was really good. Thanks for all the advice and content you put out mate
