First song has been stuck in my head for 22 years. It was different from what else was around at the time: Korn, Bizkit, Deftones, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Staind, and Disturbed. What really grabbed me was the tribal feel of the whole song, and how the lyrics spoke more about society at large, instead of personal daddy or girlfriend issues like other bands at the time did. Lyrically it has more in common with Rage Against the Machine or Fugazi, which was what we needed back in the 2000's. Its more anti- government oppression than anti-my parents and ex girlfriend. I later learned about the Brazilian government's oppression and corruption, and realized that Max is singing about far greater real life evils than American and British bands are. Its one thing to stand up to the U.S. President (and don't get me wrong, the U.S. does have its problems), but to stand against the far worse Brazilian government is far more courageous.

Will get into Soulfly and Sepultura soon, but it warms my heart you know of Fugazi. Recently got into them and they're up there with Dead Kennedy's in my opinion. Real punk music that actually makes you think like some of the best music in the world does.

fuck yeah i was at that tour but the pittsburgh show... phil from pantera stopped the set halfway through and was complaining how the most pit was full of pussy kids wearing korn shirts and started throwing joints into the crowd and telling them to rush the pits and clear out all the bitch kids who were just standing there and took up all the pit passes with mommy's money and kept all us coked up psychopaths from actually throwing down like a bar fight... which is what a REAL most pit is like

Saw Pantera @ a place in Citrus Heights called "The Boardwalk". It was about as big as my living room. 30 seconds into the first song the place was already on fire. Shit flying EVERYWHERE, all cocktail waitresses up on the bar top... tables flipped... noses bloodied... girls' titties floppin everywhere, joints blazin, speakers thumpin PANTERA ripping it a new one, what a show.

First time hearing this album was when I was around 17-18 years old at my first job working at a local restaurant/bar as a dishwasher. Everyone in the kitchen would take turns bringing in different music they wanted to hear. I brought in slipknot self titled, some korn, a scary sounds cd (because the narrator was funny to listen to). Others would bring in Eric Clapton, some hippy type music ect. Someone brought this in one time and it became a staple of the Cornerstables kitchen. We would put it on when we were getting slammed so it would give us the energy to power through everything. We used to have fun with the bring it song. The cooks would yell out mashed potatoes or some random food and someone else would yell "bring it!!!!" Half the time everyone there in the kitchen was high or something including me at the time so it was fun. Plus the waitresses's were good looking. (Got three girls from that job) Was a fun time. Makes me miss those days sometimes. Just don't miss the sucky pay lol

Very hard hitting album. Got to see them live at ozzfest at spac the year incubus and pantera and queens of the Stone Age played. I remember seeing QOTSA and thinking. “These nope-ners aren’t very good when is incubus and soulfly coming on. Then QOTSA released the album with dave grohl on the drums and it was harder hitting and I liked them a bit more. But SOULFLY at ozzfest the year man. What a set

One of top Soulfly's albums, the best!! So creative and brutal at same time, gotta love this mix even after 23 years! Love how Max include some portuguese phrases in the middle of English spoken song, very characteristic of him🤘🔥

As an old fan of Sepultura
and a superficial fan of the Soulfly .. my opinion that this project came at the right time in the right place.
Giants in that era like Korn, Deftons and Limb Bizkit (in short giants in nu metal genre/if I left someone out)
and all of them experienced the heyday and peak of their careers in the late 1990s / early 2000s.
Max comes out of Sepultura and successfully sails into this American nu metal creame with this "Nu metal" project and collaborations with the above bands of the same name.
He simply rounded them off as a whole.
That's what Sepultura did in the death metal scene in the early 1990s (and in the middle of 1990s)...WOW !
He presented death metal in own way
    (Brazilian way)
So Soulfly presented his nu metal genre to the whole world and fit perfectly into what was then the highlight of those years!!
    Bravo!!
    Out of competition
,with brutal riffs,Brazilian rhythm percusions / sections this is one of the albums that came out to appear!
Showed who they are and what they are.
Soulfly did a masterful job here,
and set a new standard inspired many and that's it!
Soulfly made a mess in one act I think.
Imagine the singer of the cult death metal band in the early 90s,
while jonathan and chino built new metal genre
Max was building a death metal scene (key foundations
building on the European school of death metal.
    (Scandinavian death metal
packaged under American influence in the Brazilian way and leaves a strong impact to the scene then and now! )
And then such a character gets into your "business" and make messes up all !!
A really great piece of music.
At the right time in the right place.
What sepultura was for death metal Soulfly briefly but impulsively did the same for nu metal.
thank you for that . thank you for influence thank you for inspiration !
