Thanks for the advice brother! Some really helpful tips! I've struggled with severe mental challenges since I was 20 with a few hospital admissions. Good to know we have a good and gracious God on our side too! 🙏

Have been following your channel since the beginning of this year. I went through the similar journey. I am still having panic attacks every once in a while. The past month has been tough. I am going through career change and have been under lots of stress. I’d watch your videos if I am so stressed. Always find help and encouragement in your videos. Sometimes I feel I lost so much because of my illness. But I tell myself to be strong and trust in God, and I keep going.
Thanks for sharing your experience. It’s been so helpful for me

Makes so much sense! Thanks so much brother for sharing! May our precious Lord and Savior bless you, strengthen you and prosper you for His glory and your good while you're giving so generously of yourself. It is indeed more blessed to give then to receive. Continue to take good care of yourself!

Absolutely! And your christian channel has been such a great blessing and such great encouragement to me as I am walking in your shoes while dealing with a severe burn out since Dec. 2019.

This is how I overcame panic attacks. Accepting and allowing any thoughts and sensations. What you resist persists when it comes to anxiety! People who have gone through this are the bravest people.

Thank you for sharing on this! I'm going to have to try, praying it will help. So I know you have been stuck at home for a few years now, how did you cope with not being able to go out and do things for Christ? Did you ever struggle with feeling like your life had no meaning because you weren't able to do very much for the Lord? If so how did you manage to deal with it and not get super depressed because of it?
Thanks again for helping us out! God bless you

It’s a very good question. My life was always so activity based so it left a big void for me. But what it actually taught me is that walking in God’s will is all about faithfulness to him and becoming like Christ. Thankfully this actually shifted my focus each day because I couldn’t do the outward things, so I focused on growing closer to God. Once I realise that this is truly the goal of the Christian life, my value was no longer found in those activities. A tremendous blessing in disguise.
There were times I cried, times I felt hopeless, times that I wished it wasn’t me going through this suffering. But these became less and less and were replaced with gratitude, joy, and a spirit of perseverance and finding peace amidst the suffering.
The suffering didn’t end. But I learnt more and more how to live in it with God. I found my meaning by drawing closer to him.

I feel you sister. There is definitely a place and time for acting. But, if God does not do His work in us in the first place, there is indeed nothing we can do for Him. We can only work out what He works in us. As Jesus said: "without me you can do nothing". So, lets see this time as the time during which God is deepening/working the likeness of His Son in us so that in His timing we will naturally produce fruit for His glory. Grace, peace and healing from the Father in Jesus name.

  • @walkbyfaithnotbysight1318

Being too anxious is a lack of trusting God.
Negative thoughts can also be from the devil and from ourselves ( self pity, thinking too much about ourselves).

Hi Matt, I'm in a similar situation to the one you were in - anxiety, issues with screens etc. I bought the Mindfulness book you recommended when we spoke previously. Just wanted to ask - in your video '95% of your thoughts are the same as yesterday', you talk about changing your thoughts and habits. Is this how you did it, by accepting the thoughts, letting them die down on their own, changing your habits and attitude in general - rather than trying to replace your thoughts like they tell you to do in CBT?

    • @mattmason-healthchannel4959
      @mattmason-healthchannel4959  Před 3 lety

Yes. I have found this to be the most effective way to do it. It’s funny how when I start to focus my mind on the things that I love, how more and more positive thoughts start to come in. And then because 95% of our thoughts of the same the next day, those positive thoughts continue to carry over each day and it builds momentum.
That mindfulness book really helped me with letting go side of things. Has it had any impact on you? Or not really?

@@mattmason-healthchannel4959 Thanks for replying - hope you're doing ok. I'm trying to be more accepting but I constantly think about anxiety and obsess about what to do about it, so 95% of my thoughts are related to the subject of anxiety and I struggle to get my mind on other things. I'm currently reading through the Mindfulness book, so hard to say if it's had any impact yet. Did you use any of the meditations in it and is mindfulness meditation something you do every day? Were there any other books or resources you found helpful that you would recommend?
