      Ms. Lauren,
      In your style of strumming, the lightness sound like the intro to the song "San Francisco" by Scott Mckenzie. It's a very smooth strum. Btw, love learning from you, even if just on video. Would love to take actual lessons. I'm a paralyzed Disabled Veteran trying to get back out there, taking up music and playing along the way. Currently starting at Guitar Center this week but I seem to respond better taking lessons or even school from females. Myself, a girl playing guitar is freaking HOT! LOL! Thank you for your time and hope my message gets to you,,,

      I'm 60, yeah I hate that number like bad. But I grew up with a headset on since I was 8 years old in the very late 60s. So much love music, just never had the discipline to play. I'm going to try this video alone, just try to get some strumming going and get my fingers working. My goal has been 10 minutes a day, quite reasonable, and I haven't even been able to do that. Oh well maybe inspiration this time will work

    15:32 first saw a guitar at age 5 it was so big I couldn't reach the strings . I took lessons when I was 12 or 13 but was more interested in working on my go-kart. I learned all those chords though. All through school and the Marine corps I still didn't practice didn't have a guitar. Add three great boys and a great wife but still no guitar. I was at work one day helping Mr Cho do some home improvements at a house. There was nothing in the house it was all piled up in the garage but in a closet in the kitchen there was a guitar, I asked Mr cho if I could have it and he said yes all them chords came back to me after I got it tuned up but could never play any songs I didn't know how thanks to you Lauren you gave me new purpose I know I have two guitars😅❤🎉 thank you

    Lauren,
    As a blind person, listening to you, you have open the my music experience a lot, definitely want to give you a tip, when you’re doing your tutorials, please keep this in back of your mind, that you might have blind individuals listening to your tutorials, and I would appreciate, when you wanna let everybody know about accord, please give us the correct fingering for each cord when you do that, you are doing it now, so keep up the good work love your videos.
    I actually love your tutorials, PS I love you calm demeanor, the way you have patience and I could hear your voice, and that is definitely soothing for people that are learning how to play the guitar, and it makes us not feel stress or with pressure we were doing any of the tutorials, thank you again.

    • @LaurenBateman
      @LaurenBateman  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Moises, yes these lessons show a diagram on screen. Many of my lessons I make the assumption that you know the chords. If you need specific finger placement instructions, I would highly recommend watching all of my chord videos. I go step by step in those lessons. Will give you a big advantage.

      But most definitely, I’m going to go back and look at those videos that you recommended, just in case I’m not missing something, I will look into that.
      Right now I’m trying to learn some fillings, going from one cord to the other, and I’m going to see if you have any tutorials on that, I really appreciate thank you for responding to my message, and thank you my name is Moses for Northern California barrier thank you Lauren.

    Hey Lauren. I don't know if you've read my posting about buying your strumming course next month, but I will. A lot of us old folks will be getting a 5.9% increase in our total monthly income, starting that month. Yippee! Beats no increase all to hell.
    And It will be totally cool having you available to teach me (and my little buddy) at any time of my choosing and more importantly, eliminate those pesky ads that routinely interrupt your "free" lessons via youtube. I've learned over too many years that they're ain't no free! Right? (You don't need to answer that. LOL)
    Finally, I'm an old am broadcast radio station manager and DJ, and I got my fill of ads about 50 years ago. Cuz I had to make them. Dang!

    Thank you so so much for your strumming lessons. I first started playing the guitar in 2007. I don't really play allot. Through the years since 2007. I'd only pick it up here and there. Allot of it has to and has been mostly not have the opportunity or place to play. I've mostly only have had electric guitars. Everything I have learned over the years has been on CZcams. I've never really got to work much on my strumming. I've watch allot of video on it and even figured I just try and learn a song to see if it would help. I'd say 70 to 80 percent of it is me of course of not really beable to practice. The other 30 percent is not havening a acoustic a place to play and finding lessons I click with. But about 2 weeks ago someone gave me a acoustic guitar. Then about a week ago I came across your video lessons. I practice every thing I've seen of yours so far at lease 20 to 30 minutes a day. You have help me come along ways on my strumming. Please please never stop your videos. I appreciate all your lessons. You simplify it so easily to follow along with and make it so interesting. Again thank you so so much.

    Hi Lauren! I'm very happy I have just now found you! I've been so many years playing guitar without being able to do that, but just for my fun, and this is also the reason why more than once I gave up playing and even gave away my guitar!
    Recently I learnt my first serious Strumming pattern (WAW! 😃), but, you're right, I fear to go out from that pattern while I'm playing a Song, even though I feel like making some small chance according to my feeling, to my mood.
    It must require much expertise to combine the two things, mustn't it?
    Thank you so much!
    I'll follow you. Bye! ☺️

    Hi, I just started playing guitar last year. I practice almost everyday depends on the song I want to learn. I always find time to play the guitar even if it is just 15 mins. So far I have already been able to play a lot of songs. Now I'm practicing on learning strumming technique by my own by listening to the song. I want to try making my own strumming pattern so that I will not depend so much on tutorials because not all songs have a tutorial on youtube. This video helps a lot. Thank you. :)

    you are such a good teacher... ma'am, god bless you for not BEING A HATER. I mean this and im dead serious because im a novice to guitar and i've been asking people who have been playing who i already envy for tips and tricks and demonstrations, seem like they dont want to. its like they learn it and they just want to keep it for themselves because only they want to be good and shine in making music. maybe to eliminate future competition (they've seen and heard me sing a little; 80s rock, country, alternative rock lol)... Your contents are gold and thanx so much for shearing your skills and knowledge. I join guitartricks, they never teach strumming, i cancelled, only you do, and i learn so quick from you. its my life long dream since my teens to learn guitar and maybe produce a song before i die (40 now), and i will not give up, and you're helping me so much... YOU ARE CHANGING LIVES, not only mine, im sure

    Thanks.. I appreciate the way you use your voice to help orient the strum pattern. So many internet teachers either can't or don't sing along. I find it extremely helpful to hear the tones and the sound of the melody as you work on mechanics.... it helps me feel more musical less mechanical... if that makes any sense. subscribed!

    I've been playing acoustic on and off throughout my life,I played bass guitar too.i always used a heavy pick but the more I played acoustic guitar the more comfortable I got with it so I started buying a bunch of acoustic guitars and experimenting with different sounds,I used a 12 guage lite on my guitars,they all had Martin's on them,and I went from a heavy nylon pick to a med gel by dunlop,my rhythm playing became more smoother and percussive on the beat,I found I could really groove on it,all my acoustic guitars all sounded different, I always buy an acoustic play it in my bedroom for an hour and set it up on my acoustic guitar stand for 24 hours play it,so it can get used to the new room,then place it back in the case and play my other guitars and then play my new acoustic a month later..When I bought my Taylor builders edition 324ce,it took a whole year cause I kept moving around because of family issues,I moved all the way to the other side of the country,And the Taylor took a whole year for the sound to come out the sound hole,I can hear a really big difference now🥰

    • @LaurenBateman
      @LaurenBateman  Před 2 lety

      Isn't it cool when you start experimenting. Everything does something different and unique. I have 3-4 different picks I switch between depending on what I'm doing and what guitar I'm playing. Can't wait for my Taylor to turn 1 year old now!

    • @kkdeveauxgue2784
      @kkdeveauxgue2784 Před 2 lety

      Yeah,you really gotta have patience with that Taylor it's a beautiful sound once it comes out,you can hear the colour and wetness of the wood the shimmer,you can almost imagine where it came from once you start playing a song all the way through,after I get off work I at least do about 2 or 3 songs straight through,just to hear that guitar sound,its like playing in a auditorium 🥰
