    Henry David Thoreau's wrote “the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation” which is why I love these videos - seeing a man live life to the max should be an inspiration to all of us - it's certainly inspired me because I'm about to take a year off from working so I can have fun.

      @machomusclevegas Před 2 lety +4

      Absolutely bro, go for it! You'll have the rest of your life for "responsibility" so enjoy being young & carefree when you have the zest & vitality to enjoy every here-&-now minute, especially if you have learned early that how much money goes thru your hands has nothing to do with having a great time! The van thing would be fun but you don't even need that; I bummed around Europe for a year when I was 19 (from Loch Ness to the Red Sea) and for some dopey middle-class American white kid to do that was invaluable !

      @@machomusclevegas I'm doing it because I'm 58 and I've more years behind me than in front. It really does make you realise who precious time is and I want to try to see if I can live a life where I do what makes me happy. That's why I love what Forestry does because he seems to be one of the rare souls who is doing precisely what he wants. I find that admirable and courageous.

    Excellent point about matching skill with a partner. I’ve had rare occasions that I was the more experienced one and that was dangerous for a partner. But several times that a partner was more hardcore and experienced, pushing me beyond my comfort zone and safety level. I’d prefer to be alone for the most part. I know my pace and my limitations. Cheers bud 🍻

      That really is good advice! I remember one time having a hiking partner with me, and she started turning gray on the way back, meaning her face was getting gray. The hike was in the southern Sierra out to Jordan Hot Springs, which is a 5 mile out and then 5 mile back trip. It's mostly downhill on the way out, you soak in the hot springs, and then you have to hike uphill out. That's what got her. I almost never hike with anyone else either. I don't know anyone that I would trust to have the endurance that I do.

    • @moteroargentino7944
      @moteroargentino7944 Před 2 lety +1

      There's only so much a partner can do for you out in the wild, unless you're both trained first responders carrying specialized tools on top of your regular equipment. You're both in the same boat.
      Alone or in a group, the real safety in my opinion resides in having a way to be located and ask for help at any time. Plus people knowing where you are or at least where you're expected to be and when you should report back.

    I've been watch FF for a couple of years, admiring his hiking, drone shots, culinary creativeness and van builds. Finally went back and watched some of his older bike trip videos. It's like he's living a life of comfort and leisure now compared to the way things used to be. Bicycling in the sand across the desert for weeks at a time seems almost incomprehensible to me. FF is a hardcore dude and one hell of an inspiration.

    Amazing views all around - whether it be from the drone or 'simply' walking up or down a massive mountain. Awesome of you to try and clear paths when possible too! Wish I could afford to help support but I at least turn off the ad blocker and watch ads that pop up...least I can do right now to chip in a bit. Cheers!

    Dang, I love hiking, but nowhere near as much as Foresty Forest! He went up, then back down, then back up again, dealing with deep snow, flying the drone, carrying the dog .... My god, man! Super hard core!

    I'm finally remembering to ask: with how paranoid most people are with separating food and campsite do you ever wake up to bear prints outside because you prep and cook inside the van?

    • @markvanderstelt8999
      @markvanderstelt8999 Před 2 lety

      no Bear tracks but very large Big Foot prints he wears a 18 wide sneaker.

    • @moteroargentino7944
      @moteroargentino7944 Před 2 lety

      I can't point it out but I remember him mentioning it in some video. I think he checked bthe area first to see if there were signs of bear activity, and only cooked outside if it was clear. I doubt cooking inside is much of a concern as he can just jump to the wheel and pull out if some bear tried to get in.

    Rocko has become a climbing pro. She sticks right near you, which is awesome!
    I always thought you getting a dog would definitely help with keeping your spirits up on longer cold days and nights, plus a buddy to hike with. Glad you found the right one.
    Keep up the great content, my daughter and I love watching your videos.
