      not just the best of both worlds, actually, it IS the both worlds in playing positions. both of those shapes EASILY handle classical and normal position in the most comfortable ways. For example, a V would only do classical well when sitting, and strats/LP's do well with normal position; if you wanted to play classical with strats/teles/lp's, you would have to angle one foot upwards, or spread your legs really far apart.
      TLDR; x-shaped guitars are best cuz they accommodate all playing positions very well

    Pretty wicked guitar. I really like what a quality guitar Jackson makes. I have a JS32T Rhoads V and it's awesome, despite a bit of annoying neck dive. It's crazy light and even though I'm not at all a shredder, I do like the necks a lot on Jackson guitars.

    Great stuff dude, just found the channel looking for this guitar. Pretty well done demonstration, not too drawn out, no unimportant stuff, you have a sub :D
    One thing I would advise, mainly for the second lower angle camera. You need more light on you, so that the second angle isn't that noisy (there's some serious image noise on these shots) and the main gets a tad sharper

I wasn’t really in any “new guitar phase” until I stumbled upon this bad boy, and I gotta tell you, after all I’ve read and seen, and especially now this video, I WANT ONE! It’s got a James Hetfield meets Dimebag Darrell in a back alley way vibe to it that I ABSOLUTELY love, and the price is just right for me. Thank you for a great review, and practical demonstration on how it looks/sounds/feels!! I’m gonna start saving up to get this thing! 🤟🤟🤟

    I have 2 Jackson X-series so far (Randy Rhoads with EMG 81-85 & KV7 with blackouts) these trems rarely go out of tune and the necks are so easy to play ..just ordered this one and a set of after market pickups, surprised this didn't have better pups as standard like the older X-Series did ...(edit 6mths later) i have this guitar now, the high output jackson pickups sound great, i didn't feel the need to change them, awesome guitar

    putting in angled 7 string blade humbuckers and floyd rose 1000 or original whatever fits best with tungsten sustain block better quality nut, noiseless temelo springs etc. ratio tuners. Hard epoxy max clr coat back of neck and body. Repainting headstock to match body and making logo black. Dying fretboard a warm dark grey -gray shade lighter than inlays. Changing body color. Painting black-chrome bevels and inlays to match tremelo and hardware. Adding blacked stainless fretwire. Blacking stainless blades on pickups. Black chrome tuners. As shown, you get what you pay for, this is not cheap for what you get. 750 for a base upgradable neck through foundation. This configuration is the best you can get for the price with a greedy market value. Jackson is not greedy, just its not their fault. I got my RGR reverse headstock with green and white abolone inlays neck through all mahogany neck through and layered mahogany body and the direction the layers are like soundboards so yeah it had depth in tone character and still all the cut even with the rosewood fretboard. It was 750 brand new. All satin black everywhere. It wasn't a tremelo guitar though. If i had it to do over again i would choose the jackson for the shape and the floyd rose routing already done just for ease of build. One major upgrade you can do on this before the tremelo is just changing the tremelo studs to original screw studs from floyd rose, the angle is different and doesn't have a notch to chip out your cheap tremelo base plate because it is not hardened steel alloy forging like the original. Now you shall hold tune maybe a few months longer or maybe a few seconds less, before it chips.

    Time ago I bought a 90s Jackson PS4 with 81/85 and sounds great but I think that pickups aren't for me
    I change them and put a JB/PafPro and sounds better to my taste
    My only problem with EMGs is if you put on any guitar they will sound "metal" there's not a lot difference between guitar to guitar with the same EMGs. It's great if you already discovered your tone but people like me who want to try and try different woods/pickups EMG wouldn't work at all

    • @TaylorDanley
      @TaylorDanley  Před 4 lety +2

      That is the good and bad thing about emgs lol. I'm actually putting them in both guitars I use live now. They just have the bite and sustain required for the music I play. I definitely wouldn't put them in some of my other guitars though!

    • @davel_ggw
      @davel_ggw Před 4 lety +2

      Check out the EMG 57/66 set if you ever get the chance. The 57 bridge doesn't have quite as much bite and tightness as the 81, but it is more dynamic and responds very well to rolling the volume back for a more vintage sound. It can do classic rock stuff very well, along with pretty much anything else, and can still hit the amp pretty hard for metal too.

    • @TaylorDanley
      @TaylorDanley  Před 4 lety +1

      @@davel_ggw I have an 81/85 set on the way, but I may try out some others in the future. I just really love that combo for my play style. The sustain and bite really help out when playing death metal at 250 bpm, lol!

      @davel_ggw Před 4 lety +1

      @@TaylorDanley Don't get me wrong, especially as an old school thrash fan, of course I love the 81! lol But I do also love the 57 :) But not everyone likes the 81, and those people who don't I think really need to try a 57 to maybe get over their bias against active EMGs, because I think they address most people's reasons for disliking the 81. Take care!

    I loved the jackson warrior shape, BUT... the thing with Jackson is that they either have high end for the wealthy, or really cheap for the poor, and no in between. Poplar is the same wood used in wood shops for crying out loud. That stuff can dent so easily if not careful. I don't understand why they also went with unmatching paint between the body and the headstock. Seems like if they were going for the cheapest route possible, why not match them? No need to swap out paint cans if that's the case

    • @dumpsterplayer5133
      @dumpsterplayer5133 Před 3 lety +2

      Jackson's been using Poplar for years since the custom shop Soloist days. Didn't switch to Alder until early 2000s. KV1, RR1, DK1, SL1, KE1 were all Poplar, and that applied to their high end Japanese neck through imports as well.
      And matching headstock is a "premium" feature, only the Pro Series has it. On a Custom Shop/Custom Select matching headstock is an extra 200 bucks as well.

    Got my hands on one of these, new. This one does not stay in tune the floyd is useless and it's all lows, lacks mids and highs does not cut thru good jamming. The strings don't sit properly in the nut, so when you tighten the locks it changes the tuning making a tension imbalance from above and below the nut after correcting by the fine tuning. The tuners are very cheap. With the relief in the neck set and string height at a nice action, this guitar buzzes bad on the low E at the 1st fret and clears up a bit at the 3rd and as you go up the neck so there's a little fret leveling to do. Inside the spring cavity there's a spot that looks like there was a chunky chip out of the wood where the body was glued to the neck (thru) or there was a just a gaping crack in the wood. A pickup swap help a bit with the mids but not enough and the highs more so still lacking. A fat brass block was installed, noiseless springs and during the procedure noticed that the bridge post on the low E side where the floyd blade edge pivots, wiggled/had looseness, the high E side was good. The fat brass block calmed the lows and balanced the mids and highs fairly well. One more thing I noticed, the screws for the claw inside the spring cavity were screwed in crooked and really the claw is too wide. If you wanted say, 3 springs in a straight line, middle and two outer, the spring on the high E side would rub against the cavity wall. The mods and aft setup helped the floyd tuning stability but not much, still unusable. Poplar is not a great tone wood but this guitar was bought because it's so lightweight, it has it's own distinct tone for sure but not very desirable. The jackson gigbag for this guitar is too short, head sticks out the top, bottom fits really tight. IMO Jackson should be ASHAMED of themselves for letting thing this out of the factory, quality has gone downhill (I have an Indonesian made hardtail Kelly from a few years back and it's great, all stock, basswood body, rivals guitars over twice as expensive) . The owner has in interesting tone selection the Warrior now with an alnico 5 in the bridge and ceramic in the neck, ideally upgraded tuners and an original floyd rose would make this guitar respectable now but with the crack in the body and the claws screws screwed in crooked it's not worth the extra money, enough has been spent. If you see one hanging in a music store, leave it hang.

    an 800-900 dollar guitar with a floyd special and jackson brand pickups is ridiculous in my opinion. an LTD or Ibanez in the same price range would get you a lot better hardware.

    That's interesting about the trem, I think I had a Floyd Rose 1000 in an LTD mh1000 years ago, and I didn't like it. Couple of cents off everytime a string was hit was killing me. I gave up on Floyd roses after that. I don't think I ever had experience with legit FR really... Anyone tried all of them? Special, 1000 and the real deal?

      I can tell you from the difference between a special and an original, the weight is hugely different. Also, I used some noiseless springs that seemed to throw the guitar out of tune when I'd whammy. I think the rubber used to silence the springs was getting pinched when the spring would stretch, but I'm not sure. In any case, the FR original on my solar works flawlessly 🤷‍♂️

      @@TaylorDanley Man I remember stuffing sponges in those springs and I think tuning was off half the time. Those Solars are specced really nice, I tried a six with an evertune and it was built like a tank. What do you think about an ESP e2 7 with an evertune vs schecter km7 without one? Specifically 25.5 inch scale vs 26.5?

    Metal is what you are playing... Nothing to do with the shape of the guitar...
    My opinion...
    Albert King was playing a flying V! nothing to do with metal...
    Buddy Holly was playing Stratocaster... So do Dave Murray, Yngwie Malmsteen, etc...
    What I'm saying is that the instrument have nothing to do with the genre...
