You have to have a premium account. When you don't, it mixes your music with other random music.

Hi there, I'm thinking of getting Spotify Premium, but I have a question, It's great that you can listen to music offline, but are the downloaded song files using your device's storage? Or just Spotify's storage. I'm asking this because, if the music didn't use my device's storage then I would be able to download way more songs. It would be good to know this before purchasing thanks.
They’re stored in your phone.
I could be wrong, but I think you’re misunderstanding how downloading works. “downloading” means pulling the music files from Spotify servers (storage) and storing them into your phone. This way, you wouldn’t have to stream them (pull them from Spotify servers) every time you want play them. Let me know if that makes sense?

this was explained pretty good! . The problem is I switch from iTunes to Spotify I got a Spotify gift card 30 dollars. Okay after some time I figure it out how to get to the creating a playlist the thing is tho I don’t have any option to download the song let alone find the option to have songs play offline.. is it because I’m on a free trial and it won’t allow you to download for sometime till after it’s done!? I'm genuinely confused by what you're trying to say. What is "recors" and what does it have to do with being connected to WiFi?
This is how you're able to play music offline and it's what I'm showing in this video. You usually stream songs when you play them on Spotify. But with a premium account, Spotify lets you download songs and store them in your phone. Since they're in your phone, you don't have to stream them over the internet.

The video is called "How to play music offline spotify". In the video I'm showing people how to do just that. Did you actually watch the video? I clearly said at the beginning of the video, time stamp 0:21, that you need to have a premium account to download songs.

Someone else believed I was still connected to WiFi, I just realized why you guys mistakenly thought so.
I use an application called QuickTime to record my videos. QuickTime mimics the top row of a cellphone screen, those bars, Wifi signal, time, and battery percentage are all fake. Don't believe me, watch my other videos and you will see that the time of recording doesn't change, they will say 9:41 AM.

Great question! I will try to make a video on this topic. But for now, you can create a playlist with only this song in it and then download the playlist. This way you will only song(s) you like.
And in the future, you just add specific songs you want to download on this playlist. So you will be only downloading the songs you actually like instead of an entire playlist. Let me know if that helps. By the way, sorry for taking so long to reply, I try to get to these questions as soon as I can.

I’ve been trying to download my playlist since yesterday, I flipped the switch and it says “waiting to download” all of the songs have down arrows but they are gray not green, how to I get it to download?
That can cause by multiple things
1) First, make sure you're connect to wifi. By default song don't download over cellular data.
2) Check your phone storage. Make sure there is still enough space
3) I don't recommend this, but you can enable cellular data download. Just understand that it will take a lot of data.
a) Start from your home page
b) Click on "Your Library" (it should be on bottom right-hand corner of your screen)
c) Go to settings (click on the little gear on the upper-right corner of the screen. It's the icon on the right of the text "Your Library")
d) Scroll down on the setting page, find and click on "Music Quality"
e) Scroll all the way down and click on the toggle next to "Download Using Cellular"

This issue can be caused by more than one thing, but a lot of people have reported a new issue that might be causing it. Before I tell you about this new issue they’re reporting, please check the following:
1) make sure you’re connected to WiFi, by default Spotify only download through WiFi.
2) Spotify only download one song at a time, so if you’re downloading multiple songs, give it time. Maybe the app is just downloading other songs at the moment.
3) There is a limit to how many songs you can download for offline play. You can have up to 9999 total, but only up to 3333 per device
If the issue is none of those things above, a lot of people are saying this problem can be caused your account being signed into from multiple devices that are on different internet networks (ex. School library computer, friends’ phone and your phone at home on the same time). So, sign out of your account on all devices. Then try to download.
How To logout of Spotify Account Everywhere
1) go to => accounts.spotify.com/en/login/
2) Login into your account
3) You should be on the “Account overview” page. If you’re not, go to it. You go to it by clicking “Account overview”
4) Scroll down to the bottom of the page, you should see somewhere that says “sign out everywhere”

Yes, downloading your Spotify music will consume data, because the music actually gets downloaded onto your phone.
You can just play Spotify without downloading. You will just have to be online.

If you're waiting for it to turn green, then it should be downloaded. Something might be wrong with your if you're waiting for the download to complete and this keeps happening. I would
1) logout, log back in and try again
2) Delete the app and reinstall, then try again
If none of those work contact the Spotify app support.

I was using an iPhone 7 when I recorded this video. I had an basic android phone before coming to iPhone. I assume you needed a flash app on the iPhone too.

Are you guys connected through Wifi or data? The default Spotify settings are set to download only through wifi. You will have to change that to also downloading with data. I suggest not doing it unless you have too, it could take up a lot of your data.
