@@readandre-read Agreed. I did the first two rounds and also decided not to judge the finals. I’m really glad your top three have moved on. I haven’t read Wellness yet. I did read Lone Women in the quarter finals. While I liked the book, I didn’t think it could compete against most of the books in the round.
Loved Enter Ghost, Tom Lake and Lone Women. Was wondering if I was missing something by not reading Wellness. Glad you liked it, but after the list you read of things the characters deal with..it confirmed I am ok skipping..lol. Happy reading:)
Excellent wrap up for this round. I adored Tom Lake. I had The Reformatory in my top spot in the first round but I had a rough first round of choices. It was my favorite of the group. I hope you are participating in the final round. I got the nonfiction group for this last round.
@@hollyc4624 Thank you! I had a good time in this round but decided not to judge the finals. I'll be following it with interest in both categories. I've actually read 5 of the 6 in fiction so maybe I should have signed up! Your group looks really strong.
@@readandre-readStrong but loooong!! And I’ve only read one previously. I think it will go well though. The fiction group looks excellent too. You should definitely have done the finals!
I enjoyed the story in Lone Women. I want to read more Western/Prairie Horror & Sci-Fi. I'm kind of in the mood for an of-the-moment type of book so I'll see if Wellness is available
@@lnmas2301 I hope you enjoy Wellness! I don't read a lot of Westerns but I did read the delightful Upright Women Wanted by Sarah Gailey. It's a dystopian, queer, feminist Western!
We really did think the same about The Reformatory and Lone Women. Then dramatically different about The House of Doors. Then quite similarly again about Wellness, Tom Lake and Enter Ghost. Wellness was probably the most surprising read for me. And Tom Lake was the one that grew on me most.
@@scallydandlingaboutthebook2711 I was also so surprised about Wellness; I really was prepared for a dud. Tom Lake touched me the most personally and it does continue to grow after reading it!
Excellent wrap up, all in all I’m very happy with the books going onto the final rounds in both categories.
@@bookofdust Thank you! I'm also happy with these finalists. They are solid lists!
'Enter Ghost' sounds great, & what a stunning cover. Ann Patchett sounds terrific also actually. Must search these ones out.
@@apoetreadstowrite You should! They're both terrific in different ways.
Great video, Angelia. I adored both Enter Ghost and Tom Lake. So glad they are going on to the finals.
@@BookChatWithPat8668 Thanks, Pat! I decided not to judge in the finals but I like the finalist list. It would be hard to rank!

It really was a good batch of books! Yes, Wellness is a very "noisy" book and I'm glad I liked it more than I expected to.

Hoping to read Tom Lake soon. Always fun to see the final results of the BTP. 😊💙

It's exciting to see the finalists in both categories!
Loved Tom Lake ad I really want to get to Enter Ghost soon!

I need to get to a location where I can watch this and hear your logic in where you placed your top three.

I only read Lone Women in this group. I liked it but LaValle has written better books.
@@anotherbibliophilereads Which one do you recommend? It would be fun to read one in October.
@@readandre-read My favorite is The Devil In Silver. The setting is in a NYC mental institution. There is a secret inmate that might be the devil.
