You sure? Firefox was done by a different effects house; in fact, it's headed by John Dykstra, who got fired by George Lucas. No, I'm pretty sure ILM did this; they wouldn't go to Dykstra for anything, and he still holds a grudge against them, so he wouldn't let them use it. Besides, ILM was the primary FX house on all three of the movies.
How old were you when you realized the aerial views of this opening scene were actually unused footage from Clint Eastwood's movie from 1982 "Firefox"...?
