Western Visayas, Part 5 : Anini-y, Antique to Mandurriao, Iloilo City
The fifth part of Western Visayas journey starts from San Juan Nepomuceno Parish Church or Anini-y Church to Seda Atria in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
We will do the church visits on this segment as we drove straight to Antique on Western Visayas, Part 4. All the 5 churches (Anini-y in Antique, San Joaquin, Miag-ao, Guimbal & Tigbauan in Iloilo Province are all old churches.
With Miagao Church, or the Church of Santo Tomas de Villanueva, we have visited all the four UNESCO World Heritage Site "Baroque Churches of the Philippines. (San Agustin Church in Manila, San Agustin Church in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, Nuestra Señora de la Asuncion in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, and Santo Thomas de Villanueva Church in Iloilo).
Sadly, San Juan Nepomuceno Parish Church or Anini-y Church & St. John of Sahagun Parishin Tigbauan were close at the time of visit so taken pictures only the outer façade.
Text descriptions in the video will be regarding the churches only as we have done a semi comprehensive in Wetern Visayas, Part 4 already.
Temporary Oyungan Bailey Bridge structure was constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) after the permanent bridge was rendered impassable due to damages it incurred due to Severe Tropical Storm Paeng over the old bridge in Miag-ao is passable by light vehicles only.
Road condition is generally good though there are stretches undergoing repairs or widening.
