Best thing about all of this is every item you didn’t find useful you gave away to someone who did ❤
I find that many nomads do this as well! It’s the kind of community (for the most part) to help each other out☺️
I have a high top van and I use it to travel in for work throughout the year. I need to have a shower available with me, but kept purchasing ones that were too complicated. The best thing I have found is a collapsible basin. For the water, I actually use two of the refillable condiment bottles that you can buy at the dollar store. I just fill with hot water. With the two bottles it’s enough to wash my hair and take a quick bottle shower.
That’s a great hack! Perfect💃🏻🙌🏼💪🏼
I carted a pop up shower tent around for two years and never used it once! It got donated to someone who hopefully will use it. Now I go through everything at the end of the camping season and get rid of anything I either didn't use or used rarely. Space is more important than a bunch of things, especially in a minivan.
Omg! I had one that I donated as well- almost flew away on me a couple times. 😜
I donated mine to a homeless camp. It was a PIA to store in my van. It kept popping open on rough terrain.
Seems a good toilet hiding device.
Lol I bought one to. U r rright
Yep shower tent waste of money and space
I do learn a lot from you vanlifers (mainly ones in my age bracket) that already had to test these items and given an idea if it is a need or no! So thank you much!
Glad it is helpful☺️
I like the new shade of hair colour you have it really becomes you, thanks for your sharing, Enjoy
Thank you so much 🤗
Do you colour your own hair? It’s so long & luscious and I’m guessing a low-maintenance style. Do you use a hairdryer? Planning my low-cost/low maintenance lifestyle 😊
@@livingjacquelineif using non permanent color, I love Clairol brand. I do it myself and it looks super natural
I have been a truck driver for years. Much of what you say, I have been doing for years. You have wisdom. It is hard to come by.😊
Truck drivers have a lot of wisdom! 😊
A lot of people can make me laugh, but when I watch your video's, I genuinely just smile and feel good, Thanks.
That makes me so happy to hear☺️
You were very helpful thank you Ladybug 🐞 I am planning on later this year going out for the first time in fall to Arizona Quartsite and get my feet wet and see if I like it! I’ve always felt like a wanderer 🤞🏼🚎🦋🌵
@@user-lx3of4sw9xI hope you have fun. That’s a good way to know for sure😊
Bless you Dee, I remember how excited you were presenting your new accessories/hacks on previous videos. Well done for passing them on, and being honest and real about it 😊
Thank you, Angela!
In December 2023 I finished my goal of visiting all lower 48 states within five years with my Ram Promaster High Top . Just to give you my bona fides . I have yet to come across someone in a van that tells me they regretted NOT putting in a shower or getting an outside shower. Almost all the time the shower inside ends up being a storage space and a not very good one at that.. I found that between Planet Fitness and washing inside my van, I get as clean and comfortable as one can be. A little warm water in a small basin, washcloth , soap and the rest baby wipes.
Yep! Same here. I have found the same thing. 😜
Less water to store.
Less water that might leak and shower your floor instead.
~ 🦋
I'm in a woman's FB group vanlife. Those with it don't regret having it, and use it regularly.
Oh, plus some of us want to glamp
How nice to put something you dont want or need in a raffle so that someone can have it. Hello Dee from the heart ❤️ of Illinois USA 🇺🇸.
Hello Rita! I was glad that someone who needed it was able to have it.☺️
Couodn'tnu sell it? Start a atore down there for 2nd hand vanlife gear.
@@WillChil466 That costs money.
Being short I need that step to get in my RV no matter how hard it is to store when not in use lol!
Then, that makes total sense for you ☺️💪🏼🙌🏼
Washcloth bath all the way. Six min to heat a bowl of water with an immersion coil. Dip one corner for each of the dirty parts, which is eight corners because you can flip it over. Then the middle for an all over wipe, or just another cloth if I got sweaty. Sun or line dry until bone dry, then into the laundry pile. One or two for each day. I don’t do hair, very dry scalp and not on the road more than four days, or if I was, there would probably be an Air bnb mixed in.
You know it!!!😝💪🏼🙌🏼💃🏻
The minute I hear myself say " Oh You just HAD to have it" . Thats how I know it has to Go! Ha ha!!!
😂love that!!!
Thanks for the heads up. This is such great practical advice for the ones of us who are still dreaming of adventure. Thank you for sharing your ideas and mistakes. They are so helpful to the rest of us.
Glad it was helpful. I always appreciated hearing what worked or didn’t work for others too. So thanks for the feedback😊
Very interesting Dee. Thank you. I laughed at the end when you held up the water bottle which can be pressurized, b/c I love mine. It's small, sprays so well, minimizes water waste, and helps me deter my cat from jumping on the counter, lol.
That's awesome. Yes, I love it!
Great information and again you show your warm kindness to others by providing useful items so they can enjoy! Your light always shines through girlfriend. ❤
Thaaaaank you 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
I used to have a boot brush on the steps of my BigTruck. Really nice for getting nasty schtuff off when out at an oilfield delivering pipe. But rarely use it now I am retired and in a house. Bought a 73 boler this fall. Planned to mount that brush. boler really low to ground. It would be great to mount on a retractable step like they put on travel trailers. 1st person to stop by Cabool, Mo . . . it's yours 😅
Sounds like an interesting system 😀
This is SO GREAT and feeling supported in the frustration of working so hard to make things better and then they have a different effect! 🤦🏾♀️💓
Hi Dee, Always a bit of sunshine in my day to see you have uploaded a new video! Thanks!!!
Yay! Thank you🥰
Yet another great video Dee, thank you!
I’m a big believer in learning from others’ mistakes, so this was very informative.
I’ve been lucky so far in that anything I’ve bought for my van was I really needed before buying. I still have a long way to go before it’s finished (probably will always be a work in progress)
Stay warm!🤗
Glad it was helpful. Yes, it’s always a work in progress and we can all always learn from others!!!🤗
Just happened to randomly see this video. Electric power is something that we all need in a Van and the best way to avoid more storage is to have a rigid glass panel on top of the vehicle and a bank of LiFePO4 batteries with a simple inverter hidden under a bed or cabinet. Everything is out of sight. The prices have plummeted over time and the install is so easy for anyone to do. All you see is an outlet (both 110 V and USB). We use free electricity so we don't need your butane stove and charge phones, laptops, TV and can run a heated sleeping blanket and many devices.
Great suggestion!!!
Do you have a link to an install like yours?
@@JAe-jc1uk There are tons of solar install videos using either those portable lithium power stations or just loose lithium batteries with an inverter described in detail on CZcams. It takes some work to find the one that is right for your application. Sorry I never recorded my install as I don't do videos.
This is the first video of yours I've seen, and I love the colors and patterns behind you, just the clean look everything has. I can't wait until, little by little, my ride starts feeling as beautiful as what you have
Thank you so much and welcome! 💃🏻
Some of the things we think are essential in home life, turns out they really aren’t essential in van life.
In fact some of the things we think are essential, aren’t essential for any kind of life! They’re habits, not essentials. Learning to do things a different way is such a great way to do life, I reckon. 😊
Exactly!!!💃🏻🙌🏼💪🏼
@@iamdragonettatoo YEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!
Ok, I will agree, a man is not worth the precious space he takes up. I prefer watch woman van life CZcams creators because they try things and figure things out for themselves where a male van life creator will tell you "trust me, this is how its done" which is not usually the case. I'm a guy so I can tell you, we don't know half as much as we pretend we know. Great video Dee!
@@greggm7056 Hehe. I don’t mind having men around as long as they’re not trying to tell me how to do things when I didn’t ask. I’m happy to say that you’ve never done that, Gregg. ❤️😊
Shower is at the gym. It's why I highly recommend urban camping. You can find the places that are just solid gold.
I just shaved no sink I used electric kettle to heat up water then I blended boiling water with cold and got a good shave. I use a insulated stainless steel champagne bottle chiller that you put ice in. Your water stays warm.
Great advice!!!🙌🏼
I grew up on a sailboat on weekends (we raced it), and we had a solar shower. Simple as can be. I even used on my 24 ft powerboat in the cockpit (easy to hang from the Bimini), even though the boat has a shower/wetbath.
Perfect!
Great tips! I´ve also tried a lot of different shower solutions, from gas heated to USB-charged pumps etc. On my 3:d build I decided to go with this one and can really recommend it: Quechua 10 L Solar Pressure Camping Shower from Decathlon. (2 adults, 2 kids and a dog) :) Doesn´t take up too much space since its collapsable and the pressure is great!
Interesting…I’ll have to check that out. Thanks for the suggestion.☺️
Such useful advice. Still haven't gotten on road, looks like mid February will be a go though. Now I don't have to be so concerned about shower thanks so much 🙂
Glad it was helpful!🤗
Find my comments for tips on bathing. For hair, use the bottle she showed.
You can always use the spray bottles for pump spring bug spray, but you can buy it. Home Depot drop a shower curtain behind your van. You can also use an enema bag. Fill it up with water and set it outside. Hot water bottle works.
Sounds like a great suggestion ☺️
I knew it! I should have type shower systems early. Everyone I know ditched their solar shower systems, including me. It was more trouble and mess than it was worth. Anytime Fitness, park and truck showers are my go to.
Yep!!!🤗
I love the step. I put my shoes on and off. Better than putting get on gravel. I have town and country with lift kit so it works for me😎👍🏽
That’s smart!!!🤗
❤😊❤Awesome info. Though I have realized, I have missed a lot of your vlogs.😊 I will go back and watch.❤
Glad it was useful. 🥰
Pop up shower tents are useless. I have the same Lunatec bottle and love it. Great fir washing hair.
lol… yes they are 😂
I have ALWAYS enjoyed your pleasant personality & flowing your programs. Thank you.
Thank you so much!😊
Same for me. Even if objects are a bit different in France, I like your personality and the way you present your van life. Thank you Dee
@@daniellelaplace6455 Thank you!
Yup - so many things not worth the hassle to drag out, clean, put away, maintain.
Very true!
I too removed my portable shower units. I recently discovered disposable rinse free clothes. You wet them and it produces a cleaning solution that you use like wet wipes. The solution will self dry, even though I choose to use a towel to speed up the process, and you toss it out. No dripping, no mess, easy to use.
I’ve seen those and wondered how they work! Thanks for the tip.☺️
Great advice as usual. So nice that you share!
Glad it was helpful!😊
I don’t live in my truck but camp a lot and i love my Joolca !!!
Nice!!!
Thanks for adding your Portable Wood Camp Stove to your Amazon page, yippee! Love this type of video it's so helpful. Thank you for taking one or more for the team, lol. Cheers from Jen ~ Seattle
Yay! Glad it was helpful💃🏻
Great video Dee, and I think the question of where/how you are going to store any item is pretty important. Thanks for sharing, I feel this video was very informative! Have an awesome week Dee!
Yes! Glad you found it helpful 😊
Mistakes! Oh no! I guess you're normal like the rest of us. Living is a constant learning process so we hopefully don't go around in circles. Onward in 2024! 😎
Hahah yes!!! 😎
Another thing that seems to happen is people gifting things that they think you would like because you have a van home. I have used a shower tent, a large water sprayer, and several other things that were gifts, for "an appropriate amount of time" before passing them on - so that I don't hurt the feelings of the giver. You are correct - the simplest way is usually the best and most freedom-giving! I have that step, but I am short and need it to get in, but you are absolutely right that it is a pain to store. If I were full-time I would have to ditch it and hoist myself up! 😂
Yes… that happens to me too😝 hahahah yep I imagine you’d need a little step. 💃🏻
My favorite vanlifer! Not much longer and I’ll be joining the nomad community. Hope to see all of y’all
Awesome! 😎
Dee, thanks for sharing your lessons learned. I have found Scrubzz rinse free bath sponges to be very useful. Just add water and I get plenty of suds for washing my 5’11’ male hair and frame. Amazon sells them. God bless you dear.
Great tip! Thanks😊
I love this video! Thank you for being so generous with the things that don't have room in the LBO mobile casa. I'm certain that you have made the recipients very grateful, Great Karma LBO!
I'll keep my eyes peeled for a van meetup as i have never been to one here on the east coast... I'll be traveling to the west coast in a couple weeks then staying in AZ for the winter Far Away From The Cold Maine Winters.
Keep smiling, happy and safe.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Good idea to be in a warm place during the cold winters of Maine!!!
I bought the Jackery1000 so I could use my electric kettle to make coffee. I decided to wait on the solar panel and have never needed it as I am more likely to charge while I’m driving. I’ve gone for more than a week without having to charge! I just joined PF so I can start working out again and, more importantly, shower on the road!!
That’s perfect! 💃🏻🙌🏼💪🏼
I have the same stair step and couldn't get along without it. I have a Ram Promaster and have some limitations with mobility so the step allows me utilize the entrance at my sliding door rather than squeeze between the front seats to utilize the living area. I just store it behind my driver's seat on long drives and keep it just inside the sliding door while camping because it's the first thing I put up when setting up the site.
Perfect! Yes, I actually gave mine to someone with a promaster 😝
Your hair is beautiful..as always. Love your vids!
Thank you so much!!
Good point to show people that they need less than they think they need. And also good to see that your channel is doing great.
😊
Thank you!
I bought so many useless things for my first mini camper 😢, but taking things slower in my second one 😅😅 great video - stay safe, stay happy 😁 x
Yes, that is good rule of thumb!👍🏼
I like to keep things simple as well. I like your approach to solving problems, instead of supersizing everything you look for a practical solution that suits your needs but is not overkill.
Yes! Thank you! 🙌🏼💪🏼💃🏻
Thank you for making me laugh. I still have the useless stair step in my car taking up space, had several water solutions, toilets and so on. I got very close to buying a shower, but realised in time I would never use it. I guess it's part of the proces. 😀
Oh man, yes...it happens to all of us at one point or another!
Your Awesome! Your videos are great and make me smile! Praise God! GOD Bless You And Have HIS Angels All Around You!🙏
Thank you! You too!🥰
Well, this did surprise me, the shower part that is. I started this lifestyle last May. So I am new. Every time I can get a shower I do. So, this is an eye opener for me. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful information 🤗
I figured I would never shower outside and definitely didn’t want to give up the space for an indoor shower. Sponge baths and truck stop showers have been working for me so far. Thanks for the video. Good food for thought.
Yep! Easy peasy 🤗☺️💪🏼
Does the water in showers (if not used) get slimy & icky too??
Great information! I didn't follow people's advice in waiting to buy things as you need. I purchased several things before I hit the road and ended up giving them away. Such a waste of money 😢, but I've learned to seriously think about the purchases!
That is so common. Best thing is to learn from it and keep going☺️
You are a natural at this!
I appreciate the encouragement ☺️
I love your channel and watched most of your videos. I don’t have a van (yet) but in the summer I do camping in my Prius (winter in Quebec is too cold 🥶). The purchase that I regret is the GO4 free chair (same as yours). It’s small and compact but I find it so uncomfortable and not so sturdy. Cute but I won’t keep it. I love your van 👍👍👍
Thank you. 😊
So much I have the same with ,always nice to clean out ones s year to see what works or not..great video..greetings from Holland🇳🇱😘
Yes! That’s a great practice to routinely reassess!
Great comments.. simple always seems to prevail, but sure is fun to try new gadgets. You never know. Even though i recently moved into a bigger van to accommodate my German Shepherd, i still plan to keep it simple. Thanks for your great content 😊😊
It is fun to find good ones!!!
Would not have guessed shower. I do not carry one as I prefer places with a bathhouse anyhow. Use bath wipes for those few times with no access. Thanks for sharing. I got less power than I need. I make it work, but I would like a bit more.
Oh yes, power is so important to get right for your needs. Refrigerators take up the bulk for most van builds…and computer/gaming needs.🤗
Sometimes you just don't know until you know😊 thank you for all the great tips❤❤❤
So true!
I don't have the van yet, but I don't think I've seen a perfect shower system yet.Usually hiking there is always a stream in the mountains.Great informative video.
And that is the perfect solution💃🏻
I think these purchases were all learning experiences and we will go through our own versions when on the road. We have to start somewhere and explore what works for us. Each of those purchases made great sense in the moment. I sometimes get very caught up in the excitement of solving an issue then buy something, try and realize that I did not understand my true needs until iterating one or more times through almost but not quite solutions. Very good video, thanks for posting it!
Very true. Glad it was helpful☺️
I never understood why people think they need a bathroom. It takes up so much space. Simplify people! A bucket, a basin, and you are ready to go. Also why do so many single travelers feel the need for a queen size bed? But hey you do you.
Yeah… I do think it is a learning process. Once you realize it, then you know it😝
Without cheating I guessed - shower and had wondered where your burky hack ended up. My set up is constantly changing and I’ve had three different types of beds, each improving on the previous set up…
Woohoo! You should get some kind of prize. Yes, things are constantly changing.
I've made some many daft purchases with my van build.. especially while I was building the bed 🤦♀️ I wasted so much wood changing my mind half way through or various tubs for under the bed,and the list goeson and on 🤦♀️ and one of those steps you had, that was a daft purchase lol.
Great upload.
It happens to all of us 😝
Thank you Lady Dee for your openness and honesty
Considering the number of useful hints, tips and gadgets you give, this is an incredibly small percentage of shall we say rejects
When being trained to sell, I was taught how to qualify my customer to make sure they got what they actually needed …. Not what they thought they needed.
I’ve taken to doing the same procedure on myself before making a purchase and then thinking about it for a day or two.
So thank you for the help and tips you have given that I have been able to use
Please keep them coming Dee
and HLG !!!😊
That’s a great thing to be able to do!🤗
As usual, your tips are so detailed and useful. Thank you.
You are welcome!😊
Thanks for the great tips!
You are welcome!☺️
Garden pump sprayer is a good shower option. I saw other van dwellers mention it and got one. Nice pressure, easy to clean. Nice to clean off feet, shoes..... with ease. Simple and cheap. Works great.
Perfect! Good choice💃🏻
Haha...that's so funny! I have copied so much from you, even the Jackery with solar panel 😮 but I have never purchased anything from a shower. Fortunately, I go to the gym often enough.
But....now I'm truely a bit sour about that solar panel 😂😂😂
Oh noooo! Sorry about that 😝
Sorry not sorry 😅
Good stuff! Thanks for sharing. BTW fun watching you get so much more comfortable making these videos.
Glad you like them! And thanks for the encouragement 🫶🏼
Love this video.
Glad you enjoyed it!💃🏻🙌🏼💪🏼
Great video! I’m a huge fan of the sponge bath. It definitely takes time to figure out what works for us in vanlife. Thanks for always being so helpful!! Sending love ❤️
Hey woman!!! Yes, it does take time to figure things out. Hoping my mistakes can help cut that learning curve a bit 😜
Hey Ms. Dee! I didn't even try to guess. I'd bet that a lot more folks under estimate their energy needs than over estimate them. We have a solar shower bag, 4 years old, been used twice. But we have more space to store it, so I guess we will keep hauling it around.
Very true. Hahaha… better check that it’s not slimy and gross 😜
Great info. Thanks for sharing. 😊
You are so welcome!
I love the first one, always wondered why I waited so long to give up the homemade box step. But, I am in a TOY-Winnie.
Nice! Lol yes, it’s funny how we hold onto some things even when they don’t make sense after a while 😝
Can u latch it on below rhe door w a bungie or 2? I had a doorstep but was not operating.
@@WillChil466 I would never do that...imagine it coming loose at 70mph...it could do major damage to your tire, or worse, go through someone's windshield.
I have one of the few Winnebago micro-minis that will not permit mounting a pull-out step. That is why I bought this one. Look for something that will work for you, yet fit in your rig. Good luck!
That could be dangerous.😬
Yikes, now I'm a little nervous. Thanks to all the great advice from certain VanLifers,, Ive accumulated my fair share of things for my maiden vanlife voyage. But then life happened and my plans are now sketchy at best.
I'm not letting go of the dream, but lately I've been enjoying videos on simplifying life... then I look at my stockpile of stuff.😅😢
lol, it is really difficult not to stockpile stuff!
Yes re shower! A wash with a flannel works well and there are enough public pools and showers at caravan parks.❤
Right?!? I think it’s something you don’t realize until you do it and figure it out😝
Nice info. Thanks for sharing 🫶🏼🚐
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching ☺️

Glad it was helpful, Tom!

Thank you, Kimberly and welcome to the channel🐞💃🏻🚗
Thanks for sharing your experiences! Have a great weekend!!! ❤
Thank you! You too!
This is so timely for me. Thanks for the info.
Glad it was helpful!☺️
Great video. I bought too much for my van too.
It happens😝
I guess four different shower apparatuses? yep.. cheated!!😂🥴 lol
Your hair is looking good! time to let it Go and let it Go gray all the way!! Nice rhyme. 💋's 4 & 2 u! XOXO
God bless you and yours and all my brothers and sisters!
I did the same thing, bundle 500 jacker 😮 don't use the panel
Right?!?! So interesting 🤭
I love my stair step but then I live in a vintage caravan so I have a lot more room! But after almost 5 years on the road I've definitely stopped accumulating "stuff" and every six months or so I do a big cleanout of all my cupboards and if something hasn't been used in the past 6 months, it goes. Another rule I have in my van is: If anything new comes in, something must go out! I also got sucked into buying a counter top water filter system but I have only a tiny counter so now I just use my Grayl water bottle filter. It's a bit labor intensive as it works like a coffee press, but for the space saving, it's perfect and it can filter water from ANY sources, like rivers or streams so is great for hiking. As for on-board showers, I do have the gravity bag but rarely use it. There's nothing like a good stock of baby wipes for those between campsite shower days!
You go girl! 💃🏻🐞🙌🏼
Another Great Video 👍 Great content, keep up the great work!
Thanks! Will do!🥰
Very helpful thank you!
You're welcome!😊

Thank you!! 😊
Despite the small size of the van, it appears spacious thanks to your clever arrangement of the furniture.
I am following you from Morocco❤
Thank you so much! Morocco 🇲🇦 💃🏻🙌🏼
Great video, thank you!
Glad you liked it!😃
Love this video❤
Thank you☺️
The simpler the better. I live in a van and came to the same "shower solution" a sponge bath.😊
Yep!!! You know it🤗
I think it's good to talk about stuff like this! I never would have guessed the shower system posed such a hassle but I have always wondered about that if it goes unused. Simple is better all around. :D
Glad it was helpful! Yes, I have yet to come across someone who DOESN’T have a shower in their build say they regret it😜
great vid thanks from me it was about what do I need and what do I want x hugs from Chester UK X
You are so welcome! Yes, that is a great way to know what to get or not!!!
Very interesting. Thankyou ❤🚐
You’re very welcome ☺️
Ok heres a hint drain your hoses completely before storage, maybe even rinse eith vinager ti remove bacteria that may have built up. Make sure its hung and dry before storef
Great suggestion👍🏼
