Kayak fishing is absolutely relaxing. My son and grandson just bought kayaks and I had one years ago but nothing like the nice stuff they have now. Thought about getting another one but my old back wouldn't like that. These postings are top notch. I would have brought home at least a couple of those crappie. Great eating. I used to fish some farm ponds with my nephew in Indiana when we would visit that was loaded with hybrid bluegill. They were so big you could hardly get your hand around them. We used to throw them back but one day the owner said he wanted to thin them out a bunch. We took a good bunch home and cleaned them for a big family fish fry that night. Nobody was in the mood for fresh caught fish for some reason so my nephew and I ate til we started growing gills. Great memories.

I almost hate to comment because I'm basically going to just reiterate what so many other commenters say. I love watching your videos because of how relaxing they make me feel. Foe me... that's fishing. The beauty of God's nature and soothing sounds of the birds, frogs, etc. I remember when I lived in Connecticut, that truly was fishing for me. A row boat on a 50 acre lake filled with bass, perch and sunfish, with some chain pickerel thrown in for the occasional challenge of not losing your lures! Now I live in NC and have to fish from the shore in a pond surrounded by trees. Sooo much frustration! Between the submerged trees and stumps, the wind, and the surrounding trees and bushes, I think that I may have lost more lures in two years than in the past 30 years! ..and they cost so much now! I recently came across a pack of red 3.0 tru turn worm hooks that were $2.39 for 25 hooks. Those same hooks today cost $2.19 per 4! Can you say "INFLATION!" ...Thanks for sharing your trips with us. Blessings!

I love spring crappie fishing. A special tactic I use while shore fishing is flipping a weightless Strike King Mr. Crappie Lightning Shad and reeling very slowly as I constantly twitch very lightly with the rod tip down. The lure stays just beneath the surface as it slowly moves and does little wags. That gets crappie to come right up and hit it. A very similar retrieve with smaller suspending jerkbaits, like a size 6 Husky Jerk and size 4 X-Rap, also works.

I usually give it about 3 ft and put a 1/32 or 1/64oz jig head so it pendulums slowly and use a 2.5 or 3-in gulp minnow. They love that when they are being finicky with a regular jig and plastic. I do some speckled trout fishing on the coast with a popping cork and saw a fellow using the method for crappie a few years back. Decided to try that myself and it works quite well. I don't have a kayak or boat so when I crappie fish all I can do is cast out and slow retrieve. They like a slow falling arc motion so the bobber made sense. I just put a regular small bobber three or four foot up from a 1/32 or 1/64 oz jig head. I get the small 2.5 or 3-in gulp minnows and they tear them up. Definitely more fun on a straight jig, but when they are being finicky this works quite well. Just pop it and give it two or three seconds to pendulum and then repeat

9:40 but what you can do every now and again for our viewing pleasers, is bring a pan and park up on the side of the lake somewhere build a little fire and show us how you prepare and cook those fish, could be a nice little treat for you and us.

Seeing you on open water sure looks nice. Yesterday, 3/24/23, I was stuck in the slush with my snowmobile. All alone. TYG I did have a shovel.

I’ve been told by a couple people they’ve caught 6lb bass there. I’ve targeted them a few times and caught a bunch but I don’t think I’ve found one over 18”.

I haven’t been so lucky to come across anything along that size range!...but I will keep trying. Love that little slice of heaven...I know you get this all the time but I bumped it you on this water last summer....sounds funny but when I realized it was you, I was a little excited...got to see my favorite CZcams content creator in his natural habitat 😮

We have open water in NY everything is unthawed lakes bays ponds but the fish are still in their winter holes for now, hopefully within the next two weeks some will venture out to the shallows once you start seeing bluegills the bass are usually hiding somewhere close. Last year I got my first bass April 11th. Hope you get a big thaw and get out soon👊

Haven't seen someone using the mimic minnows in a while. And quite frankly they're a great bait. The smaller sizes slaughter the eater size crappies. And I've caught some giant slabs and bass on the bigger sizes. Pike are a problem when using those but they always are with minnow like baits.
