    Should have had King Viserys ask about him when greeting Alicent at some point in season 1. Or even when they were having their last family dinner at peace.

    This cut scene was a weak way to introduce Daeron in my opinion. A better way would have in episode 9. I could easily imagine Daeron being mentioned by Otto as an option for betrothal (he's Jace's age so it wouldn't be weird) and Alicent perhaps could be hesitant (she says "he's just a boy", Otto counters pointing out his age, and in the midst of this discussion we'd subtly get more details about him). This is a very rough idea but I think that introducing him in the context of power politics is better because it's more memorable, which is crucial if you only intend to introduce him in season 3. That being said, shoehorning the deleted scene into season 3 (Aemond and Gwayne) also works, though doing it in season one episode 9 would have been more impactful (which is also my way of saying that the green council scene needed to be a lot LONGER, Daeron or no).

    Hope you're right, cause he's quite a cool and important character not to mention his beautiful blue dragon Tessarion. Maybe he will show up in the last episodes of S2 and surprise us, would be such a shame to cut him from the show as they did with Lady Stoneheart in GOT.

  • @jackson857
    @jackson857 Před měsícem +8

    Just because they're slowing down the rate of adaptation doesn't mean they shouldn't introduce Daeron now. Personally I think it would be more beneficial to introduce him this season with a just a few scenes and then we can use him properly in season 3.

    I mean they introduced Joffery arguably a worthless character. But not Dearon its ridclous. Many show only watcher will be surprised anyway. And to be honest it's gonna be a disconnect between Dearon and the black side of the family anyway. Luke is dead and they had no scenes doubt he's gonna get any scenes whit the rest either. They lose that emotional impact, that this is a family conflict. They should have had him in the Family dinner scene, they just needed on episode for him to interact whit the whole family. 5-10minutes of screen time. it would have been logical to. Since Viserys is so close to death maybe Alicent would want all his children there to create a picture of family. A throwaway line that Otto had him sent from Oldtown to attend the dinner and say goodbye to Viserys done.

    He wouldn't before Viserys dead but should have been in episodes six and seve, still I understand he is not relevant until the battle of the honeywine and that they had problems with how much could they fit in season 1, but I still think is a narrative problem to present out of nowhere a new son of Viserys after he is dead and in a diferent season, i think it would have been problematic if it was done in episode 9 of the past season, I think is problematic if it's done in the begining of season 2 and I think it will be really problematic if they wait to season 3, again I understand he is not important until season 3 but from a narrative perspective I still think is problematic he is not even mentioned, and if they don't know who to present the character or they don't know what to do with Aemond after Sir Criston takes the army, I fear they could give his role to Aemond, then have Aemond leave the green army when he is challenged by Daemon
