- I sat down with #CoryWells ahead of his headline show at St Pancras Old Church in #London to discuss his debut album 'The Way We Are' (in a very churchy green room including a 'Holy Water' tap). We talk about 'Keiko' (spoiler alert: most definitely not about an orca whale), the heartbreaking 'Harbor' and Cory tells us about the 'Wildfire' video shoot featuring Pandora the Snake... đ

First time seeing a Cory interview and he just seems so humble.
As someone who also has a tendency to ramble a bit when the anxiety kicks in I appreciate that you allowed him to get his thoughts fully out and didnât rush him or cut him off.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Can confirm he's a super cool dude. And thanks so much for watching!
@@EyesClosedBlog, I was checking out your website and saw you were a Shania Twain fan when you were 7. That was my only ever country concert.
Also I enjoyed your interview with the guys from State Champs. Looking through some of your interviews for the bands and people I listen to. I think youâre right when you said on your website that you like to have a more personal interaction or however you worded it. You do seem to have that more relaxed vibe. A good balance of journalist and fan.
Something that you asked Cory in this interview about an advantage that quiet music has to louder music. Iâm a musician myself and I started out doing punk/grunge stuff but Iâve settled down a bit. So there was this professional wrestler named Jake The Snake Roberts and in a time where guys like Hulk Hogan were yelling in their promos Jake would talk quietly and his philosophy was that with the yelling promos you got the basic idea but with the soft spoken promos you had to really pay attention to what the person was saying. Your focus was on them and their words. I think music is the same. You can tell from the tone of metal music that this person is probably angry but with a song like Harbor youâre focused on the words and it tends to resonate more. Elliott Smith was so good at that too.
@@lucasneuhaus6570 Hahah Shania is a legend!! I'm so jealous, I never got to see her live but I'd 100% be down to go country for a night đ€ Thanks so much for taking the time to look into my work, it really means a lot! And being an introvert myself, I always find the quietest people have the most to say. Tragic that in today's society, the people that yell the loudest get the most attention, whatever 'stage' they're on or platform they have...
He's very chill. He chatted with me and a buddy for 30 mins before his show about computer games and building PC's.
Love me some Cory Wells! I just got introduced to him about a month ago and I can't stop listening to him!! He's amazing! And Harbor is my favorite song!!â€ïž
Agreed, he's a unique artist! Thanks for watching the interview! đ
i love this! getting to know musicians behind the scenes is always so fascinating. I aspire to be like this one day.
Thank you for watching, appreciate it!
Keiko is also the name of a character from Star Trek.
Appreciated this. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed the interview Tarik, thanks for watching!
Rocking these interviews đ€
Hahaa thanks, I try!

Was his Grandad in Three Dog Night? He leans on slang so the interview waffles rather than using concise words that count and save time? It would be a good idea if you are interviewed about your art to reference Burton or Ustinov when they were young.
What does abortion have to do with miscarriage? His answer doesnât make much sense. Feel for the guy for losing the baby though. Great track.
It is two separate scenarios he's referring to. I believe what he means is that for some couples or women who have an unwanted pregnancy, an abortion seems like the obvious and straightforward choice as the focus is on the practicality and outcome of it (not having a baby). When his fiancĂ©e fell pregnant, they very much wanted the baby and they couldn't have had imagined having an abortion. If you're looking forward to having a baby rather than not wanting to have it, and then losing it due to miscarriage is the painful experience he seems to be describing. I hope that makes sense to you đ Thanks for watching!
@@EyesClosedBlog thank you for your perspective on the story! Sounds right to me :)
