Greetings, Jose from Puerto Rico, I am a new subscriber. Yes, I will be upgrading from my S23 Ultra. One of the main reasons is the flat screen. I've been carrying my S23 Ultra without any screen protection, due to the fact that I couldn't find adequate screen protectors because of the curved edges. Now that this new model comes with a flat screen, that won't be a problem. That might not be something noteworthy for some, but for me, it's a plus. Having said that, I've read some negative comments on different forums that this new phone hasn't changed much from the S23 Ultra and has glitches not found on the S23 Ultra. But I feel this will be addressed with software and firmware upgrades in the future. Let's not forget that the S23 has had many upgrades in the past year. I read similar comments before when the S23 came out and was compared to the S22 Ultra, but eventually subsided when newer software upgrades addressed the glitches and bugs that come in every new phone. It is a natter if time, and we have to be patient; down the road all these issues will eventually be tackled. I love the fact the Samsung when head on with the A.I. which has some bugs, but like I said, as time goes by it will only improve.
People trying to justify the 23 over the 24 is just desperate. Fact is, the 24 is just an overall better phone and if i was just starting out, i would just get the better overall phone. Nobody wants to buy a 23 just to get less technology. The AI is also great to have. You can do alot with it and enjoy the phone more than the 23. 23 holders are even in denial saying the 24 tech upgrades might come to the 23. Its not. Why would Samsung invest that money into an old phone when they can put it into the 24 to make it even better as time goes. Nothing new is coming to the 23. Most 23 holders just cant afford the 24 and so now the justify not getting it, but they would if they could.
I agree so many salty S23 users trying to justify their purchase it isn't like the S24 is going to downgrade, its obviously going to be the better phone. Upgrading from the S21 Ultra looking forward to it.
As someone going for s24u, I would love it if most of these features get backported to s23u also honestly. It shows me that they'll still care for my phone the next year and the 7yr os upgrades won't just end up being a blank "ya we'll do the bare minimum" promise That said, I do think that somethings like frame interpolation just can't be done as well on 23 just because of the vastly superior npu of the 8gen3
@@KumarAbhinav2812 i dont think the Samsung mindset is to put those upgrades on the s24u. I could see if Samsung cared about getting higher s23u sales but that makes no sense as the major sales focus is on the s24u. The most i could see with the s23 is Samsung doing daily updates and bug fixes. Samsung focus and resources will mainly be on the new tech. S23 will just go with the flow of daily updates and bug fixes. I do believe a decent amount of s23 holders will eventually switch over to the s24u.
@@DrDillDough yep, exactly! Completely agree and my 2nd point in the prev reply matches that The last Samsung phone I used was the galaxy Y 😅 and it was crippled to death by Samsung updates. Forced to flash custom ROMs to survive. Never wanted to buy a Samsung device after that My mindset changed after owning a watch 4 for about a year. In my country, it's half the price of watch 5, a third of the watch 6, and it's still getting pretty good feature updates all the time. For example, Samsung did not launch with pay, bp and blood oxygen monitoring here in India. But they chose to enable it on watch 4 still even though it's 2+yrs down on its lifecycle. Tbh personally I don't even care for the paid subscription model which Samsung is hinting at for Galaxy AI. It gives them a strong reason to keep it alive on older phones, so as long as it's reasonably priced, sure, I'm happy to pay :)
From my experience I'm changing the SXX ultra series every 2-3 years because there are no so much changes every year. After some time you get a software update on your old SXX Ultra and you can enjoy all the new features from the new SXX Ultra
@@Techtablets Thanks looking forward to it! I have been using the S23 Ultra, Iphone 15 Pro and Pixel 8 Pro for the past few months and been comparing the Ultra Wide Shots. I can say the Pixel 8 Pro still has the best results, it's clearer, sharper and best in low light situation. Pixel 8 pro Video Boost is excellent, definitely works and not a gimmick. Been looking at review of the S24 ultra's ultra wide quality, i think I might be disappointed! I was hoping you could confirm it. Thank you in advance.
Thanks I needed this info, I’m finally making the change from iPhone to galaxy, I just preorder the s24 ultra and can’t wait to see the results in person.
I did upgrade my S23U to the S24U. Reasons are: titanium borders, stronger and more scratch resistant display, better display resolution, anti-glare display, better and faster cpu, better cameras, slimmer bezels, even improved touch response, and AI features. I am really hoping to keep this phone for at least 3 years. I get tempted every year to upgrade 😅
12:30 "Its gonna use its AI" bruh its literally just using google image reverse serach, everyone can use that for free. On any phone you can do a screenshot and then do the same search via google or even in the image viewer on your phone. This is a bit more comfortable I'll admit but its not a "special Samsung AI feature".
Isn't even a special feature, Google just advertised it for their pixels, and it is coming at the end of this month ☠️. Most if not all of galaxy AI features are using Google AI models and Google's servers
Very intriguing smartphone . An iPhone users consistently for 6 years now , had an android for an year in the past and always go back to iPhone , but this is the phone that I will switch again to the android and we will see
Well, S23 Ultra for now seems better with better throttling performance, even better pics and videos in certain scenarios....may be 4K60 and AI is the only better thing but then AI probably will come to S23U as well. With the right deals, one should buy S23U.
@@phothewin6019 Seen a test with 16 min difference. 9h 50min vs 10h 6min. Test had 3h gaming, 3h youtube 4k, video recording etc. ip15pm had 10h 40min, p8p just 8hours and few mins
@Electric-bm7bfNah, he's not wrong, the camera performance is inconsistent rn, and it may and will get improved, but the question is how much? Based on Samsung's camera optimisations history (especially s23u's one), I don't think they will do that much. Probably downgrading the 23u a little and boosting 24u processing also just a little will be enough until s25 series appear
I did the upgrade, due to the trade codes and bouns codes, out of pocker $958 AUD with trade in. But got case, Bud pro 2, charger and more in that price. S24 Ultra 1TB Black.
Please test the Exynos 2400 version on the S24/S24+ if you can. It seems that the Exynos 2400 is outperforming the S24U's 8 Gen 3 in gaming and in the various benchmarks as well when it comes to stability and efficiency
The Exynos 2400 is surprising many in how it is actually outperforming the 8Gen3 in many key areas. To anyone with inside knowledge however, this is no big surprise. Samsung have deliberately been low key with the 2400 to prevent a potential sales hit for the 24 Ultra.
I might really consider this now just because of the less reflective display....I can get migraines in an instant and over the year I have gotten a few from looking at my s23U even for a few minutes only, Never turning off extra dark mode also because that is also a trigger for me. So if the less reflective display gives my less migraines, it might save me money due to taking time off work due to migraines. The s23U is honestly like a mirror I have to angle it away from so much light sources I find. For now I ordered a matte screen protector and suss it out...probably the dumbest reason to 'upgrade' but reflections set me off real bad, TVs, Montiors, windows and even car paint will do it to me.
I am really interested in knowing which phone you use as your daily driver, Chris. This is considering how many phones you have reviewed on this channel. Well done!
My daily is the S23 Ultra 512GB and has been since I bought it from release day. I will hang onto it for now until with get some camera updates with the S24U It's just in dire need of some improvements. My second phone right now is the Vivo X100 Pro which has some of the best cameras around. But video is not as good as my S23U. And I love using my S-Pen.
Almost 2 million. Just 2-3 years ago we arrived at 1 million. 5 years ago we got 100-200k. With that much power, we should be using our phones as work or productivity PC. But mostly phones are just toys.
I have pre-ordered the s24u and I have the s23u, so I am based in the UK then with all the discounts I managed to get the phone will cost me £300, I got 600 trade-in for my s23 ultra, another 10% off with NHS discount, then another 50 off with Samsung pre-order code, then I can sell the galaxy watch 6 for 80 quid as i have the 5 pro, is it a massive upgrade no but if you can get the right deal then why not, to quote flossy carter "treat yourself dont cheat yourself"
I honestly don't understand what advantages one UI has over the android basic UI (pixel). The only advantage on s24u is, in my opinion, less battery drain in sleep mode on Snapdragon vs Tensor gen3 on pixel.^^
Pass. While the flat screen is great, I'll wait for Qi2 (so magnetic accessories won't interfere with the spen) and multi esim support (ie. 2 active esims).
Didn't people say that the S23 Ultra was a refined S22 Ultra? Anyways, samaung Is going to release an update towards the end of the month that will Adress some of the camera issues that reviewers been saying. I can't wait to get my S24 ultra.
Good review. I’m coming from a standard S21 and this is going to be my first time using an “Ultra” so this is going to be a bigger upgrade for me compared to someone coming from an S23 Ultra. About the fast charging, if your intention is to keep this phone for longer than 3 years, like I likely will, knowing it will support 7 major OS upgrades and 7 years of security updates, I wouldn’t worry about it. Extremely rapid charging will just accelerate wear on the batteries.
@@007_unknown_user Both. Google has been releasing yearly major OS upgrades since 2011. By that logic, the S24 will get all yearly major OS upgrades, as well as monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly security updates, for 7 years.
Coming from S22 line or older? Or iphone or a cheap phone and want the best? Get the S24u if the price is right Coming from S23U? Upgrade only if you dont value your money, folks. A bit better at everything? Perhaps, but not worth it. S23 Ultra was hailed as the king of phones of 2023, but not even a year later, people act like its an obsolete piece of garbage since s24u came out.
So, I have a basic,Galaxy A50 at the moment and I'm thinking of upgrading. Do you reckon I directly opt for the S24 Ultra or just settle with the S23 Ultra? I also feel that S23 Ultra was already pricey, so this one, no doubt is the pricier of the two... considering this, should I opt for the S24 Ultra or the S23 Ultra?
I have a fold 5 and s23 ultra and go back and forth between them. Love the 23 ultra, especially the zoom on it so im very skeptical of the 24 ultra with the downgrade to 5x (yes i know the sensor is better). I pre ordered one anyway and will see how it goes
Dunno about the S24U but I have the S23U and between the weight and glossy finish I found it always slipping and sliding and the first thing I did was put it in a Speck case. If you're also someone who will use a case of some sort, the material of the phone is of course essentially irrelevant.
All models have the 256 GB of storage now not the 128 that companies bring out thank God OnePlus makes 256 GB models as their entry level on their flagships I may get this phone just based on it having 256 and 12 GB I have the 22 ultra but I'm still using the wall we mate 20X which is the best phone ever made and there's nothing you can do about it
Bit concerned on stress test results. I am a heavy user of my S23U and in the summer, i got to have a fan blowing on the CPU part of the phone to stop it over heating. With the S24U having 1.9x bigger heat sink, I thought the S24U would have dealt with heat dissipation better. 😟
@fzr1000981 early releases can't be taken season. They are early phones. Can't go off of a tester phone lol. That ain't valid. It's like playing a beta and assuming it's the final product.
Awesome as always. Is there any chance you put screen protector and give us an update if reflection get worst? I wanna know if anti reflection works with screen protectors? Thanks in advance
well shit. I ordered the s24 Ultra to upgrade from s22 ultra because I was tired of my phone throttling to shit and it seems that the s24 does the same thing...
So great, it only takes 9 years to Samsung realize that curved display sucks and flat is better. Last Galaxy with audio jack was S10+ in 2019, so we have just 4 years to return audio jack with fanfares. May be after that we finally get some better batteries, may be not 3,4,5 average cameras but 1-2 great camera. And not this refurbished galaxy series... And i really don't understand why media hype zero innovation and they are excited from this small incremental changes. But Chris , great work whit reviews and tests.
What setup do I need to achieve better results with my S24 Ultra? When capturing photos of moving objects, I've noticed they often turn out blurry. How can I address this?
It was weird that the more you zoomed in the more wind noise you could hear. Hopefully it's just their audio zoom feature that can be turned off in the setting
Only cost me 600 to upgrade from S23U plus I got a "free" memory upgrade like last time but this time also a free Galaxy Watch 6 I can sell on. (Garmin better)
Do I still have to switch it down to 12MP when changing camera modules? Is tracking AF still missing in 50MP mode? Is there still not human/animal eye detect AF?
PSA: A new firmware to improve camera performance and phone performance is going live next tuesday or so. Dont get carried away by clickbait titles like this. Its not a "review", its more like an 48 hour later "impression"
Do you think future upgrades will make the camera and AI stand out more? Also how do you truly feel about having AI integrated into a phone? Should their be any worry of privacy? (conspiracy theories welcome here 😉)
Chris.. I would expect to share with us that the screen is very dim and the, color's very very washed out.. even in vivid mode... nobody talking about what? Why? Unfortunately I already purchased this device.. also the speaker's are in best mediocre..in loudness..
I've reached the point I need to hop between iphone and galaxy because simply put I'm bored of the same phone every year with minor tweaks not meaning much to most. I waited for this release, but my note 20 ultra aint much different, so im going to buy the 15 pro max for a change
You will regret it like I did , same boat as u brother, bought the iPhone 15 Pro max , faced with many bugs , sold it & couldn't wait for the s24 ultra so I bought the 23 U , considered just as an advice from someone who did what ru trying to do now .
Hi Chris i very much like your video of S24 ultra great review and attention to detail. Love your style. Can you do detail comparison of S24 ultra and iQOO 12? Thanks from Philippines ❤
But how is it as a phone? How's the network connectivity? How's the RF signal reception? So much time spent talking about benchmarks, photos, and gaming. Of course they're only incremental improvements - there's only been marginal upgrades to CPU, cameras, and memory speed since last year Talk about some other stuff that's useful as well. Thanks for the quick review.
Thank you for yet another great and honest review Chris! It's great to know that Samsung has provided their users with the option to permanently hide that disgusting hole in the screen. And the 1TB version is currently on par with what smartphones with MicroSD support can offer, as the 1.5/2 TB cards are still a rarity. However I'd say that for me this is still a worse offer than Sony's Xperia 1V that has a dedicated camera button - and you can make a quick photo without even taking your winter gloves off :)

It shows me that they'll still care for my phone the next year and the 7yr os upgrades won't just end up being a blank "ya we'll do the bare minimum" promise
That said, I do think that somethings like frame interpolation just can't be done as well on 23 just because of the vastly superior npu of the 8gen3
@@KumarAbhinav2812 Some features are device-specific because the AI is built into the chipset; it isn`t just software.
@@DrDillDough yep, exactly! Completely agree and my 2nd point in the prev reply matches that
The last Samsung phone I used was the galaxy Y 😅 and it was crippled to death by Samsung updates. Forced to flash custom ROMs to survive. Never wanted to buy a Samsung device after that
My mindset changed after owning a watch 4 for about a year.
Really impressed with the smoothness of the lens transition of all cameras.
Please compare it with the pixel 8 pro, especially on the ultra wide camera and low light capabilities
Might do.
That flat panel is a real deal for me. Love to see Samsung is going in right direction. Btw quality of front/rear camera really impresses
Thanks I needed this info, I’m finally making the change from iPhone to galaxy, I just preorder the s24 ultra and can’t wait to see the results in person.
The one downgrade from current iPhones is video. All the S24u video samples scream out that it was shot on a phone.
12:30 "Its gonna use its AI"
bruh its literally just using google image reverse serach, everyone can use that for free.
The S24 Ultra has crazy good battery performance from initial tests so far.
Keep lying to yourself 😊
@@phothewin6019It's battery life seems very good, but a lack of camera improvements over the 23U is the big story of the moment for many reviewers.
Nice up mate! Waiting for your Honor Magic 6 Pro review! Keep it up
please bring camera comparison between s24ultra and vivo x100 pro
I did the upgrade, due to the trade codes and bouns codes, out of pocker $958 AUD with trade in. But got case, Bud pro 2, charger and more in that price. S24 Ultra 1TB Black.
Please test the Exynos 2400 version on the S24/S24+ if you can. It seems that the Exynos 2400 is outperforming the S24U's 8 Gen 3 in gaming and in the various benchmarks as well when it comes to stability and efficiency
But battery life is a joke!
The Exynos 2400 is surprising many in how it is actually outperforming the 8Gen3 in many key areas. To anyone with inside knowledge however, this is no big surprise. Samsung have deliberately been low key with the 2400 to prevent a potential sales hit for the 24 Ultra.
very nice and concise review mate! btw really missed New Zealand so much..I hope one day I can come back here
Thanks for the level-headed look at the device compared to all the hype out there, really appreciate your channel for that.
Chris! Thank you for posting.
Do tempered glass screen protectors work with the fingerprint sensor? Is it worth upgrading from the S22 Ultra you think?
It will be a good leap forward. You'll notice a significant improvement in both camera and video.
Bro you work is the best among all the youtubers. Youre honest. Period.
THE DISPLAY IS ON NEXT LEVEL!!!!!!!!
Awesome review with true pros and cons at the end. Thanks Chris!
My go to review for this devices. Great job as usual
Very sensible review video. All important things covered without too much stress on AI and cameras.
Really enjoyed your video buddy, Birmingham UK 🇬🇧 keep it up 👍🏻
I bet the Samsung CEO don't have this phone yet, but here you are with the review 🤯
They did, yes, every year, same with OneUI basically
Good review. I’m coming from a standard S21 and this is going to be my first time using an “Ultra” so this is going to be a bigger upgrade for me compared to someone coming from an S23 Ultra. About the fast charging, if your intention is to keep this phone for longer than 3 years, like I likely will, knowing it will support 7 major OS upgrades and 7 years of security updates, I wouldn’t worry about it. Extremely rapid charging will just accelerate wear on the batteries.
will he get 7 years of android updates or just security patches?
@@007_unknown_user Both. Google has been releasing yearly major OS upgrades since 2011. By that logic, the S24 will get all yearly major OS upgrades, as well as monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly security updates, for 7 years.
Is the text translation and AI generative parts only on Samsung messages or does Google messages have it too?
Coming from S22 line or older? Or iphone or a cheap phone and want the best? Get the S24u if the price is right
Coming from S23U? Upgrade only if you dont value your money, folks. A bit better at everything? Perhaps, but not worth it.
S23 Ultra was hailed as the king of phones of 2023, but not even a year later, people act like its an obsolete piece of garbage since s24u came out.
Yeah I ordered the 24u but should have kept the 23u for another year.
The only difference is Al Implemented and I slightly better processor it's S23 U 3.0
possibly going from iphone13 max to s24 ultra.
Either the S24U or a foldable phone
Hey TechTables, Will you make a review of Oppo Find X7 Ultra? Great video!
Just hold this at retail store yesterday and damn the corners are sharp.
It is truly a device that deserves an upgrade, especially when it comes to updating the flat screen 😍😍
Sir... does 50mp periscope have "dual pixel pdaf" or only "pdaf"? Looking forward to your reply.
All models have the 256 GB of storage now not the 128 that companies bring out thank God OnePlus makes 256 GB models as their entry level on their flagships I may get this phone just based on it having 256 and 12 GB I have the 22 ultra but I'm still using the wall we mate 20X which is the best phone ever made and there's nothing you can do about it
But Samsung did 256GB with the S23+ and S23U last year 🤔
Is the corner of the Ultra version uncomfortable in your palm, especially when using it with one hand?
After 2 years you will have to pay for AI! WILL BE A SUBSCRIPTION FOR IT!
1:24 read the manual, the second hole on the top is not a microphone its a ventilation hole, what ever this means
my dear brother, do you advise me to buy the S23 ultra or S24 ultra 🙏🏻
Another solid review Chris, can't justify the price of this phone even with the Sammy trade in deals in $NZ.
Bit concerned on stress test results. I am a heavy user of my S23U and in the summer, i got to have a fan blowing on the CPU part of the phone to stop it over heating. With the S24U having 1.9x bigger heat sink, I thought the S24U would have dealt with heat dissipation better. 😟
What current phone is better?
It's not even releases yet. It's just available for pre order are you talking about the 23?
@@EricMarquez-km1ug it's released for early testing wake up
@fzr1000981 early releases can't be taken season. They are early phones. Can't go off of a tester phone lol. That ain't valid. It's like playing a beta and assuming it's the final product.
@@EricMarquez-km1ug what nonsense, they are just early production phones that have been through QC
Awesome as always. Is there any chance you put screen protector and give us an update if reflection get worst? I wanna know if anti reflection works with screen protectors? Thanks in advance
Hi, it's worth noting that with a protector it's worse off so you really need to use no screen protector.
What about PWM?
Oddly nobodies mentioning this when its a topic all year
well shit. I ordered the s24 Ultra to upgrade from s22 ultra because I was tired of my phone throttling to shit and it seems that the s24 does the same thing...
The circle search could be useful in shopping tool if one can circle search for cheapest price quickly. One could do it now, but it takes more effort.
Google lens does something similar.
The Pixel 8 Pro gets this a few days before the S24U is released. It is a Google AI feature Samsung is paying for.
How much better do you expect the Antutu scores to get with software updates etc? Kia ora Aotearoa
you can expect a little down coz the chip is heating high while even it is already throttled the 8gen3 performance
Very good review Chris I hope you will also review s24+
Awesome review and First impressions as Chris Sir
Excellent review, thank you.
Great review as always 👌🏼
Thanks - great review and I need to have it :)
Best soc is 8gen2.
All 8gen3 have issues in demanding tasks
Couldn't Samsung just add this AI feature as an update to S24 and S23? I believe s23 ultra can easily handle the Samsung AI :D
Most of the AI features are coming with the One UI 6.1
What setup do I need to achieve better results with my S24 Ultra? When capturing photos of moving objects, I've noticed they often turn out blurry. How can I address this?
You can't really, only to to have the best lighting possible otherwise we need a firmware update from them.
Waiting for your ROG 8 Pro review. Keep it up!
It was weird that the more you zoomed in the more wind noise you could hear. Hopefully it's just their audio zoom feature that can be turned off in the setting
It was that I should have turned off audio zoom.
ANY NATIVE CALL RECODING WITHOUT voice notification that call is being recorded? Like on xiomy,Huawei....
(conspiracy theories welcome here 😉)
How about shutter speed?
why there was no information about pwm?
Chris.. I would expect to share with us that the screen is very dim and the, color's very very washed out.. even in vivid mode... nobody talking about what? Why? Unfortunately I already purchased this device.. also the speaker's are in best mediocre..in loudness..
just pre-ordered. Upgrading from the s21 Ultra. Can't wait to mess with the 4k 240p interpolated slomo.
You can't beat a change of direction in life. Why let life go stale?.
Hi Chris i very much like your video of S24 ultra great review and attention to detail. Love your style. Can you do detail comparison of S24 ultra and iQOO 12? Thanks from Philippines ❤
Hi, I might do a comparison with the X100 Pro or Find X7 Ultra.
How are the haptics? My S22 Ultra used to have crappy haptics compared to my iPhone.
Dat display is smth else 🔥🔥🔥
Do you have main phone that you use or you just swap your main SIM into these phones? And if yes which phone have you used in 2023?
Thank you for yet another great and honest review Chris!
It's great to know that Samsung has provided their users with the option to permanently hide that disgusting hole in the screen.
And the 1TB version is currently on par with what smartphones with MicroSD support can offer, as the 1.5/2 TB cards are still a rarity.
However I'd say that for me this is still a worse offer than Sony's Xperia 1V that has a dedicated camera button - and you can make a quick photo without even taking your winter gloves off :)
I honestly didn't even realise i had a hole on my s23 until you just mentioned it and ive had 5he phone a year, you dont see it
Wait, you're talking about the selfie camera?
@@danniel7480 Yes, that disgusting hole in the screen for the selfie cam. I want my screen space pristine.
@xlati0n still better than iphones traffic island. You want a screen with no hole punch than a nubia is up your alley.
Do you know if voice typing has improved at all?
The real reviews will be after 3 to 6 months of use and a few updates, now it's way too early but from what i'm seeing this is an upgrade on 23 ultra, finally we have a big FLAT screen 😁
I'm still on my Note9 but i just ordered the 24 Ultra, it's time to retire the King Note9...
