It’s a common joke that generals from dictator countries don’t actually earn their ludicrous chest full of medals Zhukov is the scary scary exception to that rule 0.0
The director actually had to reduce the number of Zhukov's medals, because he was worried that if he put Isaacs in an accurate uniform, the audience would think it was supposed to be a satirical exaggeration.
Of course the portrayal of Zhukov was not cosmetically authentic. The narrative point of the portrayal is that Zhukov was cocky, action oriented, contemptuous of Beria and party hacks, and fearless.
and also quite vain. All those medals doing "bing!" at 0:19 are obviously there for the comic effect: the general goes around everywhere wearing all his medals like a gangsta wearing his gold chains.
Zhukov was one of the few leaders of the Soviet Union, with a modest peasant worker background. He was the nemesis of Hitler. When the Soviet leadership had their great Victory parade after WWII on the Red square it was Zhukov (to everybody’s surprise) that lead the parade on a white horse. The reason for this was that Stalin was afraid of riding a horse that could throw him off. Stalin was green of envy when Zhukov led the parade and handled the horse perfectly.
Stalin relationship with Zhukov is amusing. A bit of respect and jealousy. On the one hand, he clearly respected Zhukov's straight talk, his willingness to tell Stalin to his face that he was wrong, and the fact that he was able to deliver results. But on other hand, Zhukov was the man Stalin could never be. Brave, charismatic, loved by the people. All of this without a massive personality cult. In real life, Stalin was known for his boring voice, and his short temper. The image of Stalin portrayed to the public was not the Stalin who the people who knew him knew. And Stalin knew it.
orjanviking....I think "Hitler's nemesis" is somewhat of an overstatement...the turn in the russian campaign of the wehrmacht was more luck than cunning...and in the end it was more a victory of attrition...since stalins ruthlessness of exploiting his own people made the later russian warmachine into a juggernaut. That + the only campaign in modern history that had less luck with the weather than the germans during that time would be the franklin expedition of 1845

However, he became Polish defense Minister after the war. In General, many poles took part in the creation of the USSR. For example, the head of the Cheka Felix Dzerzhinsky was a pole. The red commander of the Russian civil war Mikhail Tukhachevsky (by the way, he commanded the red army during the campaign to Warsaw) was of Polish origin. An important role in the work of the Comintern was played by the Polish Jew Karl Radek. German Communist Rosa Luxemburg was a Jewish native of Poland. Many poles and Jews living then in large quantities in the territory of Poland gravitated to socialist ideals (even the future leader of Poland Pilsudsky was in the Polish socialist party) as superiority in the state of Russians pushed them into a rank of counter-elite. And this is a typical picture not only for the Western regions of the Russian Empire. For example, in Indochina and Malaya, Chinese diasporas became the backbone of local Communist parties - they are wealthy enough to afford education, but they are not ethnically dominant in the state.

The machismo appeal is sometimes detrimental to the betterment of the general public and perpetuates impulse thinking and military absolutism (Stalin's regime, Fascism, etc.). Why else did Kruschev commit to de-Stalinize after his death?
Uh what? Khruschev wasn't prone to military absolutism? While I like the guy, don't bullshit me. Khruschev was just as capable and willing to use brute force to achieve his means. Just ask the poor fools in Hungary during the 1956 uprising how un-absolutist Khruschev's response was. Khruschev's de-Stalinization wasn't motivated by some turning back of Soviet maschismo. It was motivated by the fact that Stalin was a paranoid nutcase whose repeated purges and belief in ridiculous conspiracies in every corner utterly crippled the Soviet military and the Soviet state and nearly led to its destruction when the Germans invaded. Khruschev's aim was to a large extent to remove Stalin's purging habits from Soviet precedent and ensure that a new, less paranoid Soviet state would emerge which could leave the USSR's military, state, industry and society intact should the West decide to start Operation Barbarossa 2.0

Zhukov was one of the lucky ones stationed in the Far East at the time of Stalin's purges. Being so far away, Stalin didn't consider such officers much of a threat. Otherwise, he may have been shot too.
Нет Жуков был близок Сталину
My favorite character in the entire movie!
"Congrats, you bullied a furry. Here's your medal."

"What the left used to be like."
True.
The machismo appeal is sometimes detrimental to the betterment of the general public and perpetuates impulse thinking and military absolutism (Stalin's regime, Fascism, etc.). Why else did Kruschev commit to de-Stalinize after his death?
TheWilczak don't care, explain to me why the editing in this one scene is so fuckin good though
Gullible with the attention span of an insect then.
@@ExistentialWill Because his main political opponent were the protegé of Stalin, like Molotov, Beria and company. Discrediting Stalin was a way to discredit his political enemies and to strenghen his own position.
Favorite character in any movie ever.
Pro tip: Molotov cocktails work very well when clearing out hordes of furries
Best entrance goes to Zhukov
He has a medal for every furry he has bullied
I'm smiling, but I'm very fucking furious.
"Everytime you bully a zoophile or a furry you get 0.1 medals!"

Anyone else feel like this is the intro to a boss/enemy that is going to be hella hard to kill
Can’t wait for the spin-off.

Damn, that Picard maneuver tho!... " 'sphewff' Where the f
Funny thing is that he seemed to be a pretty chill guy lol, liked to drink coca cola and fishing :).
I guess no one needs extra violence after what he must've been through lol
Жуков никогда в жизни не позволил бы такой наглости, как сбросить с плеч шинель, а сзади стоял мальчик на подхвате. Он был очень дисциплинирован, и такой вольности не допускал
The music name?
