    Finally got to doing the rear doors. The first door i did took me a couple hours. The second one took half an hour but a lot of this is trial and error. If anyone does this, for either door, my best advice is to look how they are wrapped on the original gear and make sure to mimic for the new gears. The twist is the hardest part for me. You have to make sure they are wrapped correctly. The twist doesnt feel right until you get the right angle and amount of wraps.

    Sorry if this is a bit silly to ask, but at 0:45 you said if the window no longer goes up or down from the driver control panel or the actual door control panel....the regulator gear needs replacement?
    I was thinking I need to replace the motor, but this leads me to believe I need to replace the gear. Well, I might add I hear NO NOISE using the buttons, so I suspect I do need a new motor. What's your opinion? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • @PowerUpAuto
      @PowerUpAuto  Před rokem +1

      The motor is not the problem. Usually the GEAR INSIDE the Regulator. Now and then the GEAR INSIDE the window motor. The motor itself is fine

      @@PowerUpAuto after watching the effort involved in replacing the gear and redoing the cabling, I assume most people just buy the entire regulator panel and replace vs. just changing the gear.

    Hi! Thanks so much for sharing. . I just got my new gear on, but I'm not sure if I got the wires twisted right. The regulator moves back and forth but not super freely. Is that normal? I haven't applied any lube yet

    • @PowerUpAuto

      If you hear a crunching sound you have it on backwards. Easy fix. Just turn the spool in the other direction.

    Hello sir,
    Does this gear work with all 2016 Kia optima to your knowledge? The appropriate replacement regulator for my car is for a 2013-2016 optima but some items I see online say 2016-2020 instead, such as yours.
    For what it's worth, my gear looks slightly different than yours on your website: some holes slightly different sizes, locations, etc. But similar overall

    • @PowerUpAuto

      Should be 2016-2021 but just look at the gear and compare to your gear inside your regulator

    I did this repair and now the doors won't lock. Looks like the repaired door is trying to lock when I hit the lock button on a different door (the lock wobbles) but pops back to unlocked. It's causing none of the doors to lock. When I physically switch it to the lock position, the unlock button on another for makes it knock properly. It just won't lock with the button. Any ideas what my problem might be? The lock wire doesn't appear bent but maybe it is?

    • @dancinggrace22MSU
      @dancinggrace22MSU Před 2 lety +1

      Nevermind! I was checking it before putting the cover panel back on and it was a problem then. When I decided to not care and finished putting the panel back on it suddenly works correctly. Maybe it just needed to be mushed into place.
      Anyway, thank you for these videos. I've had to replace 3 window regulators, one gear, and one motor in my Hyundai Tucson and I've used your videos to help. Thank you!

      @PowerUpAuto  Před 2 lety +1

      Not a problem I've run into. Might be you have the bracket where the lock cables are misalligned.
      Come on down to Tampa, I'll check it out.

    I thought I did it right and I wrapped both completely around the spool but I had too much slack on both sides afterwards.
    Any tips?

    • @PowerUpAuto
      @PowerUpAuto  Před 2 lety +2

      too much slack means you do not have the cables wrapped on the gear properly. Should have 2 wraps around each side of the spool.

      They say what one man can do another man can do. Biggest problem is spooling the cable over the round wheel on the other side of the regulator. I'm 60 with limited strength and if I can do it I/m sure you can do it.

      Just realized you meant the wheel on the regulator, not the spool. I've been able to do that about 10% of the time. You would not need to remove the regulator panel. Usually I need to remove the entire panel in which case you hve to have the wire off one wheel (not the spool) and then force it on.
