The Real-Life Rambo - The Man Who Fought 1,000 Battles Without a Single Scratch

  • The helicopter blades whirred, cleaving through the humid jungle air as Command Sergeant Major Patrick "Tad" Tadina crouched in the doorway, his eyes scanning the dense canopy below. At just 5'5" and 125 pounds, he was a small man with an outsized reputation - one of Vietnam's most decorated and feared Rangers.
As the chopper descended towards the landing zone, Tad's mind raced through the mission ahead. Five years of continuous combat had honed his instincts to a razor's edge. He knew the NVA was out there, waiting. His team of six Rangers would be inserting deep behind enemy lines, outnumbered and outgunned. Their mission: locate and disrupt a major supply route feeding the Ho Chi Minh trail.
Tad checked his customized silenced pistol one last time. They'd be on the ground in seconds, and the hunt would begin. Despite leading over 1,000 long-range patrols, Tad had never lost a man. But this mission felt different. Intel suggested the enemy knew they were coming.
As the skids touched down, Tad's eyes locked onto movement in the treeline. In one fluid motion, he raised his weapon and squeezed the trigger. The figure dropped silently as Tad and his team melted into the jungle. The Ranger, known as "Ghost," was again on the prowl.

The title is a bit misleading "...without a single scratch." He was wounded three times, but the impressive thing is having never lost a single man in his 5 years in Vietnam. That is not just an epic achievement, it is truly legendary. I imagine there would have been fierce competition to serve under him.

This is the first time I have ever heard of this man and that is a shame . Very grateful this video was made to let us know this giant of a man existed . I wish that more Americans would know about him and his exploits and truly see what a man is , what a leader of men is and a true warrior . He is a perfect example of the old phrase , it's not the size of the dog in the fight , but the size of the fight in the dog .
R.I.P. CSM Tadina for you will not be forgotten by me .

Thumbnail image reminded me of an old joke. My uncle bob was a vietnam vet, one day his chopper was shot down, crew killed, he was the only survivor, there was a case of beer aboard so bob sat down and drank em all while waiting for rescue. But he sees about 40 VC come out of the treeline so he jumps into the crashed huey, opens up on the VC with the door gun, kills about half of the opfor, then grabs a shot gun and his sidearm and charges into em like a madman, kills em all. Moral of the story? Don't f*ck with uncle bob after he's been drinkin!

Served with LRSD, 101st Airborne. Those boys are still holding it down in early GWOT. I was just a untabbed 11bravo, but some of these dudes went on to green berets. This unit was a pipeline for alot of Ranger bat and spec ops dudes. Infantrymen always the heart of the fight!!

Were LRSD units ever used offensively. LRRP units in Vietnam were used very offensively and their mission scope went far beyond reconnaissance. I have always been curious if this was still the case in later years.

“ ranger “ training in Vietnam at the SF area was completely different than ranger school in the states. Those who trained in Vietnam could not wear the “ Ranger tab “. As to his ranger training I’m really not sure where he got it
