- In this video, I show you how to replace rear diff bushings with Rev shift green bushings on an 08 Cadillac STS and I also do an experiment by installing aluminum couplers with polyurethane bushings in place of the rubber couplings this is an experiment I've been wouldn't try for a long time and I'd like to see the result of it please enjoy my videos thank you for watching.
🔥 🔥 another fire video
Thanks, I appreciate that a lot.
How are you man when I drive my 08 sts it's making a cluncking sound when I hit the gas some times I'm in Atlanta and I don't trust the mechanics here they just want to rip people off do you think it's the drive shaft
@@hiramaaron7471 It's either the rear diff. Bushing. That's a common problem for that car. I've replaced it on my 05MI08, so it's probably the rear diff if it's not the rear death, it could be the transmission mount or the or the drive shaft mount, but the most time is normally just a rear diff. Bushing.
Daniel, do you mind sharing how you like the bushings? I am starting the exact same thing at the end of the month.
Sure I love it one of the best upgrades to do that bushing you will never half to replace it for the life of the car. Unless you plan on racing it. But it's one of the greatest find highly recommended it.
@@fixitdanielyou did a good job...ive seen videos where people are taking out the whole driveshaft...i happy you showed us that's not necessary...
@BodyWeakDotNet No problem, thank you for that I really do appreciate that.
So will tgis prevent the pinion from locking up ?
@@fixitdaniel Did you end up keeping the aluminum couplers or did you go back to the rubber ones?
So does this green bushing ride only on the aluminum differential housing?
Yes, that's the only thing they really sell for this car is just a bushing. The differential machine there is a black one too, but I like the green better. You don't really know the difference
Do you have to take the tires off?
Yes that's the only way you can get to them with the tires off
Do you need to put it on 4 jack stands or can i just lift the back to be able to turn the driveshaft when taking off lugs
You don't have to put it on for jack stands but the reason why I do it is because you got to get the exhaust down and it's just more better to do it on for jack stands but you can do it on just two you just got to put the car in neutral lift up the back in and do what you need to do just lift it up high enough so you have room to get the exhaust down and the drive shaft but yeah you could do it on two you can do it just on on just left with the back end of the all four
@@fixitdaniel thank you for explaining more your the man!
No I didn't unplug the sensors I just loosened it from the exhaust and just Twisted it off and left them hanging so I left them plugged in just just undid it from the from the nut into the to the exhaust pipe
If you remove drive shaft, parking will disengage from Transmission.
You have a transmission fluid change video ? I can’t get that fill plug off to save my life
I believe I did a video when I had my silver one but this one does need a transmission filter change I could do another video the tricky part is getting the new fluid back in it. With it running hot and all.
Would this work on a STS AWD?
Not sure I've never seen an AWD setup.
You haven't by chance removed a rear cv axle in any of your videos have you? I am replacing my bushing, but also a cv axle, so i was going to drop the whole differential down since i have to take half apart anyway. I am realizing this was maybe not an amateur's job 😂
No I never had to take the CV axles out but they're not hard it's not an amateur's job it's just that it's just you have to be careful since you want to take the whole thing down but you really don't have to take the whole thing down just to replace a CV axle you just need to figure out how to get it out with with it still up in the car you don't have to take the whole CV axle down just just to do that so but it's not hard to do if you really actually want to do that
Any idea too is to have the confidence to work on your car and save some money because if you have someone else do it they're going to charge you an arm and a leg to the point where you're not going to want to do it but if you could save yourself some coin and and learn how to take it out yourself you have that peace of mind knowing that you can work on your car you have confidence that you can work on your car and you just need to take your time and if you feel uncomfortable comfortable doing it by yourself get some get one if you have a mechanic buddy or someone who's mechanically inclined to do it help you out in the same process as well
