heyy ty for these videos!! i have a question. i always record on a 2 track beat but should i record using a compressor and should i mix vocals the same way as how anybody actually mixing their own instrumental do it or do i have to have a certain vocal preset for a 2 track

I’m not a big fan of teaching compression this way, as it only explains how the car works. Yet doesn’t teach you how to drive it.
What was left out is to understanding that compression increases the frequency density of a sound, it creates front back movement, and can be used to place sounds deeper or more forward in the 3D sound field. Every decision we make should be based on solidifying the imaging of a chosen sound and it’s specific placement in the 3D sound field.
Also understanding low level, mid band and high level peak compression is a big component.
