Ok literally every time I watch a video of worth it, I HAVE to eat what their eating or I feel like I'm missing out. I see the Mac n cheese and I immediately run to the pantry like an earthquake is going on and ask WHERE ARE THE NOODLES.
I like how the first one had such simple ingredients but it was so good
items that will make any food unnecessarily expensive
1. Truffles
2. Edible Gold
3. Caviar
4. High End Liquor or wine
5. Lobster

What disturbs me about all those expensive dishes is that they're not an expensive Mac 'N' Cheese, or an expensive omelette or an expensive burger. They're expensive lobster, truffle, and caviar that happens to have a little Mac 'N' Cheese on the side. And looking at the experience as a whole I think the cheapest cuisines are usually the most authentic ones and worth trying.
because food has been commodified and this show is only focusing on consumer concerns not other aspects of food such as authenticity, history, culture, economics, ecology, land, water, producer/worker rights concerns. this show is basic af.

The problem is that you're treating a dish as it's ingredients instead of as a dish.
Mac and cheese is a dish, not solely the macaroni and cheese. Even at that point, you've have to call any milk or butter or seasoning as not part of the mac and cheese.
Authenticity is irrelevant, but yes, obviously when making higher end dishes, restaurants will trend towards more expensive ingredients.
