    1. Use 1/4 or 3/8" plywood instead of OSB, OSB will flake apart when exposed to water, even when waterproofed. OSB is also much heavier than 1/4" or 3/8" plywood. 2. For easier transport, you can cut the wood flooring into 3 pieces, rather than 1 large board. 3. Always install the floor boards before fully inflating the Excursion, inflate about 2/3rds full and wedge the flooring into the raft.

Cool boat with very nice inflatable floor on which you can easily stand.
Why do so many people need wooden floor ?
To make boat heavier , harder to transport ?
To have less space in the boot if your car ?

  •  Před 3 lety

Very cool! I want to put something together like this using an Excursion 5 as the base as well.
I read the Intex mount can handle up to around a 3hp engine but I wanted to run a 6hp outboard so I was considering reinforcing the floor at the back (extra to the already fitted hardboard floor as you've done here which if you don't mind I'm going to shamelessly copy!) and welding up a mount to bolt to the reinforced section.
Then I'd use the intex mount in conjunction with the home made mount to spread the load and stresses out more evenly.
I've even considered fitting a central rib of wood under the floor in the centre with curved ends and pipe lagging padding to add a little bit of a 'V' to the underside to help manoeuvring... I am worried that might stress the inflatable boat floor though! I guess some expanding foam carved to shape to fill the gap a little might help though!
