    I respect Triumph for producing this machine; well done! I’ve been riding since BSA and Triumph ruled the world, well, my part of the world, so I’m a tad “classic ‘n retro” too. While I don’t own one yet, I’ve put enough miles on a Thruxton R to know the engine has great character and performance. All that said, I’m holding off buying one, and here’s why: Triumph has to get rid of the tank’s cheap looking pinch-welds (like they have on the new scramblers). And really, that’s it. But while I’m ranting, I may as well add that while I like the look of the dual-shocks, I’d swallow the loss of the classic look for the functionality of a single unit. The new Rocket 3 has swallowed that bitter reality, and the bike will certainty improve because of it. Finally, why doesn’t Triumph produce a Speed Twin R - replete with “standard” Arrow exhaust, Olin’s suspension and a few other better bits? Why buy a bike just to junk decent quality parts to replace them with marginally better parts? Give us the better parts up front!

    Here's the thing though, you like it better than the T120 in terms of fun/speed/performance in the short-term. BUT, would you like it better than the T120 when it comes to commuting, light adventure riding on dirt and highway for hundreds of miles per day, and comfort? That's why I chose my T120 over the Speed Twin; I can do MORE with the T120 and go on adventures/explore. What do you think MotoChooch?

    • @MotoChooch
      @MotoChooch  Před 5 lety +1

      I concur. The Speed is more a fun sporty have a blast bike. The T120 would probably be a better commuter/explorer.

    • @nicholasspinicelli2911
      @nicholasspinicelli2911 Před 5 lety +1

      @@MotoChooch Yeah. I tell you what though, that T120 is a lot of fun. Being a track/sportbike rider, I just pushed my T120 to its furthest point so far (it's been cold, and the bike just reached 600miles), and it was a freaking blast. More chill and smooth than my R6, it makes you feel like you're going faster than you actually are. I scraped peg for the first time on it, and I don't think I'd really want to lean further than that on public roads anyways. I can't wait to put more miles on this thing after its first service.

    • @MotoChooch
      @MotoChooch  Před 4 lety +1

      Comfort goes to T120. Handling, and pure muscle goes to Speed. Riding position is more aggressive on the speed as well. Pillon might be a tossup. I would say take your pillion to the dealer and both sit on both same day for that eval. Good luck! Don't think you'd be disappointed with either.

    • @MotoChooch
      @MotoChooch  Před 5 lety +1

      @@bc67 The first bike I rode after my accident kept me off for 7 years was a KTM SuperDuke 1290R in rain mode. If you have throttle discipline and the riding maturity to not ride beyond your limits yes. I can agree with that. The bike I returned to riding with was a 2016 Street Triple R. I didn't use rain mode but I was able to really enjoy that bike even though it was more powerful than someone who didn't have any recent riding experience should have. I was in my late 30s so I was old enough to respect what it was and not ride beyond my limits trying to impress anyone. If you think you can handle it responsibly, I say go for it!
