- It's been a minute since I did a Sunday at BBP video!! Other than the weeks I was away, the only real "excuse" I have have is that it's simply hard to not SKATE when I'm there! I get so swept up by the music, energy and vibe that the 3 hours pass in what feels like the blink of an eye (Big up to DJ Nile for always bringing the heat!!) Not to mention how PERFECT that floor feels right now. And yooooo... Ant Lava and Dream were on some other level that night!!! Such a joy watching them skate.

I think I'm going to learn how to skate in 2023. I haven't really skated since I was a kid, and I wasn't good then. But this might be new weekend thing for me.

If only we could get a rink in Japan that actually has a decent speaker system accompanied by a decent DJ.
If it ever happens I could only imagine what magic would come out of it! I know Japan would take this to the next level!
There has to be enough interest and potential to have thousands of skaters to open one. Rollerskating rinks are a poor business model because It's niche,it s an expensive place to maintain,expensive to insure, and you need ONLY DJs that can mix on beat for long hours..

Was recently told that if I like skating to house music that I should check out Branch Brook in NJ. This is my dream! I may have to make the 9 hour drive… aside from following the BB insta, if anyone can recommend other resources to follow along this particular skate scene please let me know!

@@anthonytaylor7928 come visit us! NJ skating is super different than OH. I was in Cleveland a couple months back and it was a whole different flow and music style than here at home :)
Those wasnt roller skaters but figure skaters.. lol 😳 I got to practice more lol
So I know I'm biased being from here, but when ppl say they wanna learn to roller skate, I usually say if you want to learn proper technique and really REALLY excel at it, you have two options... NJ/NY style (like in this video) or artistic skating (which is essentially figure skating on wheels)! Skaters who skate this style well are not just skaters.. or dancers... but true athletes!

Haha! This particular session does cater to the SKATER skaters, for sure! But I always encourage new skaters to come out as well… so much to be inspired by!

@@jonathanlavery 🤩🎉🔥 The cut at 3:40, 5:53 and 7:14 were mine while editing though! The one at 3:40 almost sounds like it was the DJ who mixed it. I try to do my vids like that where the audio is mostly seamless when I put it all together. I haven’t done one of these in a while. Maybe I’ll get some footage this Sunday… 🤔

@@jonathanlavery Aww thanks for all of that!! At core, the only real “rule” to the style is to maintain a left right left right step on the upbeats :) With a partner or on an train of course there are some things you need to do to maintain proper positioning, but besides that, the rest is really up for interpretation! Work your pivots and edges and you’ll be on your way! 🎉🛼🤩

8 minutes of the same music…. I’ve never been to that rink before so is that the norm?
There’s a live DJ so the music is mixed, meaning there are no breaks between the songs… really there were at least 6 different tracks played in this video, maybe more (I’d have to watch again and count!). Have you been to a club with a live DJ before? Same concept. What style music is played will be dependent on what kind of skate session it is (family v adult night, etc) and also what region you’re in. At Branch Brook, where this video was taken, there’s always a lot of house music.

Awesome skating but the music sucks I understand thats its supposed to be dj created house skating music but regular skating record would suffice
It’s usually a mix of both these days. Lots of DJ created stuff in there.
