    Welcome to the July 12 issue of Hi5. My name is Astrid Jones. I am an Academic and Career Success Advisor in the Office of Academic Advising. I am honored to be your ASL signer today!
    Here are our Top Five news stories.

    Gallaudet had a major presence at the 57th biennial National Association of the Deaf conference. We have a full report on our website.

    Eight-time All-American sprinter Eric Gregory tried out for the Paris Olympics in June, in the 400-meter dash. He fell just short of making the team, but plans to continue training with hopes of making the team in 2028!

    The renowned Deaf artist Nancy Rourke has been working on a large mural on the west wall of the National Deaf Life Museum space in Chapel Hall since early June.
    The eight-panel mural will depict seven Indigenous figures, representing the two tribes from the Washington, D.C. area, the Piscataway and the Nacotchtank. Read more on our website.

    This April was the 20th anniversary of the annual Sutcliffe Business Bowl. Dr. Ronald E. Sutcliffe attended the event with all five of his children. Dr. Sutcliffe and his late wife Agnes, endowed a fund at Gallaudet that supports Department of Business activities, including the Business Bowl. Read more on our website.

    Our football team will join the Old Dominion Athletic Conference in 2025. ODAC, founded 49 years ago, is one of the nation’s largest NCAA Division III conferences.
