I was a professional driver from 1984 to 2001. I came across plenty of drivers with your attitude who made out their driving was perfect and defended other truck drivers' bad driving simply because they were 'one of the clan.' I'm well aware of the bullshit comradeship among drivers and it's toxic. You know that manoeuvre would be a fail on your test so why is it acceptable once you have your licence? Taking any bend at that speed on public roads is aggressive and unnecessary. Slowing down there wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to a driver's time scale.

    re: the clip with the HGV at around 2:20. while right the HGV should giveway until noticed, and allowed to continue it's turn or a clear spot in the traffic. the problem arises with the car infront not being able to view the main road because of a large vehicle waiting to turn into the side road so blocking the view. so that makes drivers following the HGV not think that it might not be safe to be on the wrong side of the main road, I would suggest forward planning when safe to do so, as a 10-15 second wait is far safer and quicker than swapping insurance details or having to wait for an ambulance or police to clear the road.

    #3 overtaking isn't "pointless" - it's just normal driving. If you'd rather control your own speed rather than spend your time reacting to the speed of the car in front, overtaking gives you that. You don't have to interpret it as an uninvited criticism of your driving - it's just a thing anyone can do at any time.

    • @trs4u
      @trs4u Před 15 dny +3

      @@Alan_Clark Overtaking is just changing the order of vehicles in a stream of traffic, it has nothing to do with "save a significant amount of time". Exceeding the speed limit is wrong at every time, but it's not for other road users to assert speed control. Additionally, speed control is something humans are lousy at. Even if one spends 100% of one's time staring at a perfectly calibrated (rarer than hen's teeth) speedometer instead of the road ahead, no two drivers would be going at the same speed even if they claimed the same number. Those differences can be frustrating if the driver behind would naturally drive slightly more quickly than the one ahead. Overtaking fixes that, and drivers should facilitate, not frustrate or berate that.

    It is sad people get upset when overtaken. Some are saying the car overtaking was speeding but again, that doesn't mean you or I can play copper and impede the progress of others. It is why you are supposed to move left after overtaking, it is the police who police roads, not us. The overtake was swift and safe, why the cam owner would rush to send it to the net is beyond me.

    Dash Cam Van - Black people carrtier was also not paying attention as they went into the back of another vehicle. Not as bad as the silver corsa but not paying attention and not leaving a big enough gap
    JustSomeVideos0 - if you have video evidence, leave it at that and jsut report it immediately. You are at risk if you start knocking on vehicle windows cos you know nothing about the driver and by making contact with the vehicle, that can be deemed an act of aggression. Whether you are in the right or wrong or somewhere in between, it's just not worth getting involved in case you do it to the wrong person.
    Dash Cam Van - probs better to just let the HGV in regardless of how they got there. Better than leaving them blocking the M25. Appreciate they shouldn't have been there in the first place but I can't see any good reason why you wouldn't help fix their mistake

He makes the turn blindly without consideration for traffic on the road into which he is turning. He forces the white car to take evasive action to avoid a collision. If you think this is good driving, it just serves to prove just how low the standard is for driving large vehicles.
      I also expect that you have a defence for the HGV that crosses the solid chevrons on the motorway exit in order to jump the queue, which is an endorsable offence?

One being ‘you try driving a HGV’. The second being ‘If it wasn’t for HGV drivers the whole world would collapse into chaos’ as they genuinely believe that they are the glue holding society together.
