I’m glad I’m not the only one who did this! I have strawberries, kale, red lettuce, and bush beans growing in mine!
I’ve purchased several myself along with the seeds and bulbs for flowers. Just as good
wow those really did turn out. I have never done it that way but you peaked my intrest.

Don’t they need some sort of vertical support?
No these are bush beans. Only pole beans climb and need vertical support.
How do you keep them stable on your deck?
Potting mix with soil mixed together is heavy enough to hold the planters up on their own, especially when the mix is wet. We’ve had high winds and storms, and the planters have withstood both.
Did they end up doing pretty well?
Yes. They actually surprised us. Just keep them watered really well!
So how did they work out in the end? Im trying to find things to grow in mine..
They did well! I was very surprised!

They produced a good amount of bush beans! You can see the progress at the end of one of our homestead tour videos.
Can you grow cucumbers also in these
Not that I have seen, only bush beans or smaller plants.

Did you harvest alot of beans?
@@billchecco not a bumper crop, but enough to help with our canning for sure
They need trellised!! Of course there gonna grow but they grow in a vine so inorder to get harvest you need to trellis them. I needed a good laugh
These were bush beans, not runner beans. No trellising required.
