    This video was super helpful & made me comfortable enough to take on the swap myself. Here are few other hints to pay it forward:
    1. The spacer that sits behind the battery (at 3:40 in vid) can stay in, no reason to remove if using the same size battery (you want a size H6 with same cold cranking amps CCA).
    2. I didn't need to remove the airbox portion that attaches over the radiator (at 5:15), just the topmost flat cover piece. I was having a hard time sliding it out of those damn T-slots anyway. I did loosen the two T30 torx bolts on either side (you have 8mm bolts there) so it was loose enough to pull the lower airbox from it-that just clips over the top of where they connect. Easy to put back together.
    3. I forgot to re-attach the wire harness nut (at 4:40) before putting the airbox back together. Don't do that.
    4. Couldn't find my 7mm, but a large flat-tipped screwdriver worked fine for the airbox hose clamp by the mass air flow sensor connector (push screwdriver under & from the left side to carefully pop that thing out).
    5. The "little wire holding job" (at 6:30) was a pain trying to pop out with a screwdriver, mostly because I couldn't see what was in there. I had a pry bar tool that wraps around either side of the clip & popped it out easily. The pry or trim tool is what you use to pop out those nasty round interior door panel clips ...so another hint might be to go buy the battery first, buy a pry tool & anything else you might need to get this done. Would suck to have to go back to the store for something, right? Take the dead battery back later & get your $22.
    8, 10 & 13mm ratchet & extension
    T25 & T30 torx
    big flat-tipped screwdriver or pry clip tool (optional)
    6. If the battery "seat belt" is too far forward, the fuse box top won't sit flush over the battery. Push that back before of trying to make it fit.
    A dealer quoted me just under $500 to replace. The battery was roughly $250 & this took me about 30 mins to complete (could probably do it again in 15).
    Hope that makes things smoother for someone out there. Thanks Nick, nice DeLorean hiding back there!

    Great video! Everything is spot on except you don't have to remove the 2 front plastic air intake shrouds with the push clips. The airbox will separate from them when you pull up to remove it from the grommets. Thanks for the Walmart battery suggestion, everywhere else I checked (Autozone, OReillys, Advanced Auto) was $270+tax with only a 3 yr warranty. Walmart was $185+tax with a 4 yr warranty.

    Thanks for the video - it was very helpful. I’ll just add that in order to slide the battery out I didn’t need to pull out the upper air dam which connects to the air filter box like you described. I only had to disconnect the air filter box from it and still had plenty of room to slide the battery out. Omitting that step saves a lot of time and effort.

    I know this is a little old. But did you ever have any problems after doing this, or did you ever have to get the battery adaptations reset? My sister’s needs a battery but a $300 service charge at Volvo has me wondering if there are long term repercussions.

    • @NiXFiX
      @NiXFiX  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Replace it and don't worry about it. Dealerships thrive off of stuff like battery resets to keep the $ coming in.

    Excellent, but How you do a battery reset on the computer... Thanks

    • @NiXFiX
      @NiXFiX  Před 2 lety +6

      Batteries are typically coded to the car. That means, the size and power of the battery is registered with the computer. This allows the computer to adjust alternator output as necessary. If you replace the battery with the same size and capacity like I did here, you don't NEED to do anything, but performing a battery replacement service function would be a nice thing to do. You would need Volvo software to do that. Now, if you replace the battery with a higher or lower capacity one, you would need to recode the vehicle to tell it what size battery is now in it. You also need dealer software for that. I recommend just swapping it with a like-for-like battery like I did in this video.

    I followed this video exactly and it was life saver, thanks! When my car was turned on right after, I received a “steering power failure” and my steering was locked in place. I wonder if this has anything to do with the battery change as my car has never done anything like that before.
    Ive tried researching it and cannot find anything specific to the xc40. Do you know anything about this? Is it related to the battery change?

    • @NiXFiX
      @NiXFiX  Před rokem

      I somehow missed this comment. Did you resolve your issue? My guess is that after turning your ignition off and locking the car (and leaving it locked for at least 10 minutes to put the car to sleep), things reset for you once you unlocked and tried it again and you're all good now.
