@@sreyaar5199 it’s mostly the canvases but you have to remember: the creators are from all over the world and might not be good at English. ❤ If you can at least understand them, I think that’s enough. It does get a bit annoying sometimes 😂😅
My group and I are reading hunger games and we didn't know if the name was Cato with a long or short A sound so we just all agreed it was short A and moved on
I have to have several copies of my favorite books of all time. US, UK, Italian editions I’m fluent ok lol. Different covers that are limited editions, signed limited editions, paperback editions when they come out and last but not least illustrated editions. No regrets 😂
Sometimes I read the end of the book when I'm bored during a really slow part in the middle and tempted to stop reading. Seeing the end motivates me to keep going and see how we get there.
Typos I can tolerate, especially if there is not a lot of good fanfic and it's still understandable. I always just chalk it up to them not being native English speakers, and well, my first fanfics terrify ME, not because of what I wrote, but because there are so many typos I can't really understand what it is I tried to write. What really gets me is formatting. If I see that there never is a space after a dot or a comma, or that the text is one big block (either by having no new lines, or just new line and nothing more to show new paragraph like a tab or second new line), I'm clicking out of it. It genuinely gives me headaches.
Yeah typos I can put up with, blocks of text without knowing where to put paragraphs to help break up the text and when they use second person writing would where I nope out
Ngl, i do reread books. Especially if i find some personal attachment to it. My dad bought me so many books growing up and the ones that we both enjoyed were the Harry Potter and LotR series. After he passed away I didn’t know how to deal with grief...but rereading all of the books we read together comforts me.
I have to read the end first to make sure I’m investing my time properly 😂 I also stop reading in the middle of the page and don’t use a bookmark or look at page numbers if I intend on finishing the book right away. If it’s a book I’ll put away for a few weeks, then I’ll use a bookmark.
I will always “dog ear”/fold the corners of my pages and mark up the inside. Literally why wouldn’t I?? If I’m going to reread it I want to know what i was thinking and where I paused when I first read it, and I’m not then it doesn’t matter anyways! It’s not like it’s a rare copy or something I can buy a new one. I want to prove I was there somehow, same with all of life I guess
yeah fr! i never tell anyone in the reading community tho bc ppl get weird abt it, but like it’s my book! are you using it? no! i also like to mark pages with quotes that i like, and i don’t want to have to waste sticky notes or buy a bunch of bookmarks!
I’ve somehow lost every book mark I’ve ever used. They always go missing! Also since the books I’ve been reading are pretty long if I don’t somehow mark them I won’t be able to find the page!
I hate book marks cuz I bring my books places where the bookmark can shift or fall out! It’s 100x easier to just dog ear it and pick right back up, AND I agree it is pretty fun to see where you’ve left off before❤
For me, I can either read for a long time or end up stopping fairly quick. But if I keep reading when I know my brain isn't paying attention any more, then I won't remember any of it. Also if any has tips for how to go back to reading longer I need to know, I used to be able to read for hours, only stopping when I had to, from what I can remember. It's so frustrating because I miss just being absorbed in a book =(
Reason why I have three copies of some of my books: first one is the easiest to access on my shelf because my brother likes to "borrow" my books and I have learned from tough experience that he will absolutely DESTROY the book. second one is for me. third one is the one that I lend to my friends so they don't all have to buy copies as well :)
I stop reading in the middle of pages. Because if I keep going to the end of the chapter it will end at a point that will make me want to read more. I do the same thing with TV shows. I stop at a low stakes moment. Bc if I don't I will be up literally all night going "OK just one more I'll go to bed after this one" I also dog ear my pages because I'm not a snob and a dogearred book is a sign of a well loved and many times read book. I've been a reader my entire life (I have a plaque in my elematary school library for getting the most accelerated reader points) and I've always dog eared my books so I'm not about to change now.
How do people listen to the same songs over again? Or the same show? Or movie? How do people keep waking up and living the same day over and over again? Or eat the same food more than once? Crazy right?? 😐
If I’m a little bored of a book, or like dying because of suspense, I’ll read the last sentence of the book as if it will actually give me any clues. Sometimes it helps me stop worrying about a character I think will die! And I also once owned three copies of a book because I bought one, lost it, bought a replacement, found the first one, and was then gifted another by a relative. 😂
I do stop in the middle of the page, for multiple reasons! I do eventually get tired of reading, so I just stop anywhere, bookmark it and rest my brain for a bit! Also sometimes it get's very hard to concentrate, and I end up rereading the same thing over and over again, so I just give up and put the book down 😂 We all enjoy reading in our differents ways ❤
I had one finger down. it was the look up pronunciation one. i always google questions while i’m reading about setting or names. the only downside is that i got a MAJOR spoiler for As Good As Dead.
3-4 fingers down. I love dog eared books & books with signs of wear & tear. I sometimes look up the pronounciation of names, places, etc. If I'm in the mood, I can read any fanfic so long as it's grammatically correct enough to be readable (including fics that are translated using google). I used to read the last page of the book before reading the rest but I grew out of that. I also own more than one copy of certain Sherlock Holmes stories & at least 3-4 copies of Jekyll & Hyde.
I don't read the ending first but sometimes it would have really saved me unnecessary frustration and head aches. It started so good and ended with me being traumatized. One book ended with fl death and the other book changed totally towards the end and made you realise that the sweet male lead turns out to be one of the most disgusting human beings with no empathy. So I kinda admire people who can enjoy books even with spoilers.
I read the last paragraph of a book that I'm unsure about. It usually doesn't give anything away, I just like giving authors that struggle with hooking you in the beginning a fighting chance. Beginnings can be hard, but endings are what you remember most
😂 I had 8 fingers down. And of course I have 3 or more copies of my favourite books one to read, one to highlight, one to add my own notes too and many more to gift to friends
I like this concept more than the normal ones, because the weird stuff a person does says more about them than listing off typical traits. 😂 I only had two fingers down, too.
i also got 2 down! instead of multiple copies though it was... the finger licking BUT only sometimes! some books (usually old/worn ones) need that extra help to turn a page
Four and a half. I can usually read typo-filled wattpad stories without too much pain, especially if I'm desperate, but there's places I will not dare go and lines I will not dare cross. To be more specific, I avoid oneshots as much as possible. The one and done concept is unfathomable as someone who grew up reading long deliberatly planned series like Warriors, Junie B, Wimpy Kid, and more recently WoF, the Giver series(unpopular opinion: the giver read better as a stand-alone), and Hunger Games.
My friend BREAKS the spine of a book on PURPOSE. She says she can’t read it otherwise and it’s satisfying. My other friend and I are like NOOO not the book 😭

fr tho
Fr😂
And badly translated mangas too! Webtoon asks for money and I will not 👀👀

Yeah i have 6 fingers down
The going "blbalabla" in your head thing made me feel so seen lmao i didn't know that was a common thing 😂
SAME
The first time I read Harry Potter I pronounced seamus’s name literally as see-mus
My group and I are reading hunger games and we didn't know if the name was Cato with a long or short A sound so we just all agreed it was short A and moved on
Tolstoy books are a nightmare because I end up doing it for every single character!
Fr like I was reading a ballad of songbirds and snakes and when I read coriolanus's name I just go "corilus"

Which book? I need to know haha(for research purposes ofc)

Same. Every time I open a book I instantly skip to the ending. It doesn't ruin my experience at all and it's something I enjoy.
@ettaetta439 Yeah, but in the books that I read, it's just some characters walking away from their house or something 😭
@@eviedart4585 In the books that I read, which are fantasy, it's usually some cliffhanger or smth.
this is true
Same, but it's very risky when you're reading a predictable book. It makes the book even more boring

A story with no line breaks is an immediate no thank you
Well maybe you should switch to AO3, there's lot's of good stuff without typos there... I mostly had that problem with Wattpad

The HARRY POTTER AND LotR series are the best series ever created
You need more copies so that you can force your friends to read them but you still have one to reread for yourself

Procrastinate on whatever you're supposed to be doing by reading. I got out of cleaning when my grandma was coming over by doing that.
Maybe try reading books with shorter chapters if you can't concentrate for too long

3 fingers. More than 3 copies of the same book. Pronunciation. Fanfictions. Ao3 and wattpad has helped me with that one.
When you are THE FANFICTION WRITER you learn to just deal 😂

I put 4 down…
The worst thing abt it is that I have adhd do I just zone out
3, so close to instilling fear
They got me on the one about stopping in the middle of the page. I stop mid sentence sometimes because I was done reading.
