Yes! In old Hollywood bedroom eyes were THE THING!!! Women with bedroom (now called hooded) eyes were very desirable! And many today would also have been told they have resting b!tch face. But back then they were the standard in beauty. They were sexy just sitting on a couch. And so are you, so is every woman! Remember your bedroom eyes and the power they hold. Forget about 'fixing' them... they're perfect. Keep them naked, make them shimmer, line them boldly, and always share them.
People have used bedroom eyes in my experience to call squinty eyes, regardless of whether they are hooded or not...maybe the meaning differs among different people?
@@march9177 looked it up... Bedroom eyes refers to heavy-lidded or half-shut appearance... Hi Aly, I'm Asian with hooded eyes and for the longest time I thought it was a defect. I even thought about plastic surgery for a short while just because I hated them so much. I double taped my eye lids once and was so shocked to see how different I was. I didn't look anything like me! The natural me, I realised, was who I wanted to be after all. So that was that. Thank you for helping me see that they are not a defect to hide or a mistake that has to be erased, and that a "look" is more than just your make up but the whole package - dress, hair, and most importantly attitude.
Hooded eyes are the coolest. Most male models have them and so do many of the most beautiful women. Try different types of makeup on yours and learn how to make them pop at their fullest potential.
Just find what works for you. You don't need to compare yourself to people, especially if they have different features that you can't attain. I have partially hooded eyes and I find a flat-winged black eyeliner with red eyeliner above it and white below the wing complements my eye shape and colour the best. Often with a dark red lip. But my main problem is my face is the wrong shape for fake lashes, which really saves me money. You just had to find what works for you

@@BaibaVulgaris eyes can't make you asian. Bone structure can. Many asians got those surgeries, but they didn't become Europeans/black, they should break/change all their bones to look that way. Hooded eyes can only give your some exotic look
we didn't have any awareness of "hooded eyes" in the 1980s! or 90s! We didn't even know what cellulite was until there was a picture of Princess Diana in a bikini "showing cellulite on her thigh" and you know how the media floods with one thing, and in those days UK we had 4 tv channels not many magazines, all of the magazines had an article "what is cellulite?" that's literally when it happened. That was around her split/divorce (i forget which) and 'flaunt it for the press' period (before, she was coy & hidden then prim & married). I am not kidding, we didn't know. I always wondered, why can't my eye makeup show? but i was alone with this thing, which would be rubbish if you were gay but is better if it's cellulite or hooded eyes, you don't know there's anything wrong with you
Good thing about hooded eyes is that you can just go natural & your eyes still looks pretty. Not so good thing is most of the eye make up tutorial not gonna be suitable. Anyways I love this video & I love my hooded eyes too. :)
That is why I gave up on eyeshadow looks years ago. I only touch up my brows and add some mascara to my eyes and that’s it. My eyes are really problematic as they’re hooded, deep set, small and rounded lol. I really can’t do anything with them
I have hooded eye and I love it. I don't see it as a disadvantage but the contrary. It really depends on all your face features: eyes, mouth, checks, nose, face geometry and symmetry.
I have hooded eyes and I've always found that they were my best feature. Of course I sometimes felt envious of women with lid space that could do crazy looks and all, but, with my eye shape, even if I do crazy colours or something that would be considered a night look for normal eyes (and nothing on the upper lid), it just looks classy, and even a bit sexy. It also has something to do with different beauty standards depending on where you are. I come from an Arabic culture where hooded eyes are more of the norm for beautiful women, with the khajal lining the eyes, making them catlike and mysterious. On the top of my head, Nancy Ajram and Haifa Wehbe both have hooded eyes and I know Haifa Wehbe is considered one of the most beautiful women in the Arab world.
Thank you for this. Every video out there aims to "correct" hooded eyes and I am just trying to find something that will beautify a hooded eye: it's an asset, not something to "fix" ^_^
I never thought of my hooded eyes as a problem til these youtube beauty guru's started making hooded eyes out to be this misfortune! I am 50 and its never bothered me. I embrace the fact i have eyes at all! This was a great video and applaud you for it! 👏🏼
Thank you! Finally someone else who sees that having hooded eyes is very common, and some of the worlds most beautiful women have hooded eyes and don't follow the 'rules that have been set out for hooded eyes. I thinks that you can carry any look with hooded eyes, and let's be honest we all blink when we speak to people and if you have a splash of gold, glitter or a metallic shadow it never fails to be noticed and complimented.
Thank you for this video! I have hooded eyes just like Michele Williams. The makeup community gives hooded eyes a bad rap but I really like my eye shape.
aw, this video melted my heart. you have a beautiful outlook on life. don't ever change! who you are is exactly why I'm such a fan! thanks for a great video. :)
When I watch you videos I feel like I am in a zen meditation beauty class wich targets the inner beauty and the beauty of being unique. That is what a true beauty guru would do. Makeup is just a tool to have fun with. You are the best Ali live you lots :*
Hooded eyes are GORGEOUS! You might have to give up from eyeliners, like I did a long time ago, but who cares, we don't even need it, they are so pretty even without it! ❤️
I have very big, round-shaped hooded eyes and it took me a long time to understand why I couldn't recreate makeup looks here on youtube. When I finally understood that I have hooded eyes, I was sad to see that many beauty gurus describe it as a problem. This video shows just how beautiful hooded eyes can be, thank you Aly. :) I want to encourage everyone who has hooded eyes to embrace their beauty.
I have hooded eyes too and find it difficult to follow the latest makeup trends with fox eyeliner and what not, but this video just boosted my confidence through the roof. Thumbs up!
wow this video made me feel much more confident about my eyes. ive always hated them, but when you put it out like this... you make it sound desirable, attractive even. thank you so much! you do know your stuff
@@lizzy4827 I would say MOST old people don't, cause just as the skin above the eyelid becomes looser, so does the eyelid itself. It falls further down. You hardly ever see old people, whose eyes look wide open, lol. My grandmother, aunt and mother have all had surgery to "get rid of" their hooded eyes. Only worked for a short time though, cause of said aging process loosening the skin again anyway. Point is, my grandmother's eyes no longer look hooded, cause her eyelids have "gone down" more with age.
Yes! Finally some love for the hooded eyes. I dont wear make up often, but it seems like every other video I've seen on it, when it comes to hooded eyes, their first priority is to make it seem like that isnt the case. But I love my hooded eyes! Everyone else can have the big round baby doll eyes. I dont want to change mine for anything. Thank you for spreading hooded awareness, lol.
Hi Aly, I searched for how to do makeup for hooded eyes because I was self-conscious about how my eyes appeared. I stumbled across this video and instead fell in love with my hooded eyes. I did my makeup after this to flatter my eyes and I realized just how beautiful hooded eyes are and I’m grateful to have them! Thank you so much for helping me realize my beauty!
Best video on hooded eyes ever! Thank you so much! This takes away so much insecurities. All i ever saw where how to change the eye shape and the do's and don'ts. Amazing to see so many powerful and beautiful women with hooded eyes in a concentrated video like this :)
You are sooo much better than 99% of popular beauty yotubers. I pray for the day beauty gurus get recognized for their work and class instead of getting instant fame just for being a flamboyant gay man (we all know it's true don't even @ me)
I didn't know what hooded eyes were either until recently. Now it seems there is a "trend" against hooded eyes.. psh! Apparently I have them and I didn't even know, but I think my eyes are beautiful, and I don't see what the big deal is about it. :-) Everyone is beautiful in their own special way. Thank you for encouraging a positive outlook and attitude about beauty! God bless. ;-)
It is so wonderful when a self-confident woman helps other women to feel beautiful instead of just saying omg, your eyes are hooded but don't worry, we can make it look better (as most of the others do). Thank you very much Aly!!! You are beautiful not only outside but inside too! Спасибо!
I hate when makeup artists say there's "dos and don'ts" with hooded eyes or any other facial feature. It is dependent on many different factors whether something looks good or not, not just one feature. Hair colour, eye size, skin tone, makeup shade, the hair style, the makeup finish (dewy, matte, shimmer, satin, etc). It might be a "cardinal sin" in makeup to do a dark shade on a hooded eye but that person may look better with dark colours than light where as the next person won't.
+Aly Art that's why I like these videos, because you're not sitting there going on about who wore the wrong colour or liner for their eye shape. You're more focused on the fact that it might be "wrong" as far as professionals claim yet it still works for these people, it doesn't detract from the over all beauty. It's refreshing to see an outlook like that on CZcams when most girls are just copying looks and re-phrasing what is right and wrong. You even find what other artists deem a "flaw" on celebrities and explain why it's a beautiful feature which is rare these days!
I never thought about my eyes in this way before... Thank you so much, I feel I have so many more make up options that I never noticed! I'm gonna have so much fun trying new things!!!
Thank you SO much for showing examples of beautiful women with small hooded eyes like mine. I'm especially grateful that you showcased the beauty and respected not trying to change or hide the eye. 💟
I am just seeimg this video, but I am thankful CZcams listed it as a recommendation. I love it. I will never say another bad word about my beautiful, hooded eyes!
So true! I love hooded eyes but the problem lies with aging. As you age you sag and that's why many have to get surgery when They are older just so they can see properly. It effects your vision unfortunately that's why it's such a problem
this video made me cry!! i hate my hooded eyes because i can't play with eyeshadow like everyone else (when i was a kid i always said "i don't have eyelids") but i didn't even realize all these gorgeous girls i looked up to (esp. lauren bacall and betty grable!) also have hooded eyes :') thanks for this video
Great video!!!! I love the fact that you speak out a very important topic! That beauty should not be defined by one feature alone. It's a combination between all ones futures and most important ones personality!!!
Thank you. This video means so much to me :) I found out I had slightly hooded eyes and has been watching videos about upper eye lid surgery and feeling insecure after living my life not even realising I had this “problem”. You gave me such a healthy dose of perspective. Your advice to look at the whole face rather than flaws makes so much sense. Facial character is beauty
I've always hated my hooded eyes because I can't do a lot of make up looks and eyeliner and that's why I thank you for this video. You make feel better about myself.

This is such a nice ,positive video ,thankyou for a fresh perspective :-) I honestly never saw my eye shape being a negative thing till all these videos popped up telling me how to 'correct 'my hooded eyes . Its nice to see all these beauties with hooded eyes , makes me feel im in good company !
...i have been wondering myself why hooded eyes are so dreaded here on youtube!! lol.....i don't think anybody with hooded eyes here look bad, in fact, i think it can be a beautiful feature! to me it looks better than those "celebrity" types who undergo eye lifts thus rendering them perpetually surprised looking....lol....excellent video and i am glad someone finally acknowledged that they are not such a bad feature to have...after all, it could def be worse!! take care xo
Wow, this video really made me forget about the fear of hooded eyes when I get older (I'm 37 already, but I was a bit worried about hooded eyes in my 40s. Not any more!). I love you for this! 🤗😘
tbh i dont even wear makeup but i love your perspective on things and the way you frame things like beauty standards and body issues. you're doing a lot of good for some young people out there.
I never really paid much attention to my eyes or their shape. But now recently I've gotten more interested in make up and I see these gorgeous eye looks and think "I want that!" But then I look in the mirror and notice I do not have the eyes for it to work. The ones who do these looks have loads of nice lid space and higher set arched brows making their eyes look wider. I do not have that lid space, my eyebrows are very low, and my eyes are set very deep. I don't think I can put anything on them and have it show and be beautiful. This video has helped alot. To see all those celebrities (especially a few who's shape is very similar to me!) and how they actually don't do anything or very little to their eyes and they are still considered very beautiful.
I have hooded eyes but they're also big and rounded, and I've learned how to do my makeup so that it works for me. Honestly I feel like hooded eyes look great almost anyway!
Your videos are so uplifting and really improve one’s self esteem.❤️ I think hooded eyes look so attractive on men and woman. I just recently noticed that all my celeb crushes have hooded eyes😅.

I always wondered, why can't my eye makeup show? but i was alone with this thing, which would be rubbish if you were gay but is better if it's cellulite or hooded eyes, you don't know there's anything wrong with you
You are right - and I think it is not wrong at all ))) It was made wrong by the media and other people ))
Gisele Bundchen, one of the highest paid supermodels, also has hooded eyes. Great video, I look forward to the sequel :)
Right! Thank you so much x x
Good thing about hooded eyes is that you can just go natural & your eyes still looks pretty.
Not so good thing is most of the eye make up tutorial not gonna be suitable.
Anyways I love this video & I love my hooded eyes too. :)
That's a great point!
Charlotte Rampling, Eva Green and Lauren Bacall all have the most beautiful hooded eyes. They're my favourite.
Thank you for helping me fall in love with my hooded eyes!
Thank you for this video feel so much about my hooded eyes now!
+Ann marie White Thank you so much! )))
I never thought of my hooded eyes as a problem til these youtube beauty guru's started making hooded eyes out to be this misfortune! I am 50 and its never bothered me. I embrace the fact i have eyes at all! This was a great video and applaud you for it! 👏🏼
Thank you very much! x x x I agree!!!
You are a beautiful person inside and out. It's great that you give us the confidence to do things against the "norm" and look at the whole person xx
+Everylittlething68 Thank you so much! )))
+Aly Art Agreed! You're so positive and remind us to accentuate our 'good' features and focus less on what we perceive to be the negative :)
aw, this video melted my heart. you have a beautiful outlook on life. don't ever change! who you are is exactly why I'm such a fan! thanks for a great video. :)
When I watch you videos I feel like I am in a zen meditation beauty class wich targets the inner beauty and the beauty of being unique. That is what a true beauty guru would do. Makeup is just a tool to have fun with. You are the best Ali live you lots :*
Thank you so much x x x )) Love x x x
Hooded eyes are GORGEOUS! You might have to give up from eyeliners, like I did a long time ago, but who cares, we don't even need it, they are so pretty even without it! ❤️
Seriously, you are one of the sweetest persons I have ever seen!! 😊
+Tugba Ay Thank you so much! )))
Thank you for this video. It's very refreshing to hear something positive about hooded eyes and to see how to embrace them instead of hiding them.

You are so talented. Bringing the ART and class back into makeup xxx
This is such a beautiful positive outlook on hooded eyes, thank you so much.
Let's face it! One day we'll all be hooded! :)
lol
Yeah I already am
@Periwinkleeyes70 she means age & wrinkles, you will lose your lid space
Nah some old people don't, hooded eyes look cute tho
@@lizzy4827 I would say MOST old people don't, cause just as the skin above the eyelid becomes looser, so does the eyelid itself. It falls further down. You hardly ever see old people, whose eyes look wide open, lol. My grandmother, aunt and mother have all had surgery to "get rid of" their hooded eyes. Only worked for a short time though, cause of said aging process loosening the skin again anyway. Point is, my grandmother's eyes no longer look hooded, cause her eyelids have "gone down" more with age.
Hooded eyes give that kind and gentle look.
i was about to have a surgery to cut a crease on my eyes because i really hated my hooded eyes. thank you for doing this video.
I'm happy to read that! Love x x x
I'm impressed, I have hooded eyes and I always contour them
+zanoob shaheed x x x
This made me feel so good about my eyes. I'm really happy
Thank you. You have helped me appreciate my hooded eyes and see their beauty. Now, I feel exotic. ❤️
Thank you so much!!! x x x
God bless. ;-)
Thank you for writing me - I totally agree with you!!!! Love x x x
+JadeLeaf1980 Agree 1000%! That's exactly what I'm trying to say!!!!
Thanks so much Aly, my eyes are one of my biggest insecurities, this was so nice to see!!!
Thank you so much for taking your time to do this video! Great inspiration for us "hoodies" :)
+Maria Martinsson Thank you so much! )))
I am just seeimg this video, but I am thankful CZcams listed it as a recommendation. I love it. I will never say another bad word about my beautiful, hooded eyes!
Aww you're so cute and very kind about people's different looks and how ALL of us are beautiful with what we were BORN with:) God bless:)
Thank you very much! x x x Love
Hooded eyes are literally so attractive
So true! I love hooded eyes but the problem lies with aging. As you age you sag and that's why many have to get surgery when They are older just so they can see properly. It effects your vision unfortunately that's why it's such a problem
lydia montey exactly, I've got this problem now
Cláudia L Sadly to hear what to expect when I get older :(
this video made me cry!! i hate my hooded eyes because i can't play with eyeshadow like everyone else (when i was a kid i always said "i don't have eyelids") but i didn't even realize all these gorgeous girls i looked up to (esp. lauren bacall and betty grable!) also have hooded eyes :') thanks for this video
Great video!!!! I love the fact that you speak out a very important topic! That beauty should not be defined by one feature alone. It's a combination between all ones futures and most important ones personality!!!
Thank you. This video means so much to me :)
I found out I had slightly hooded eyes and has been watching videos about upper eye lid surgery and feeling insecure after living my life not even realising I had this “problem”.
Having hooded eyes is heaven for applying and blending eyeshadow
I don't have hooded eyes but I love them ,and sometimes I contour my almond eyes because I want them to look hooded.I like the effect that big eyelashes have on hooded eyes.
I have hooded eyes as well as very low eyebrows kinda like Claudia Schiffer and I am amazed by how beautiful she is.
This video made me feel so much better thank you for this 💕💕💕
this makes me feel so good about my hooded eyes! i usually hate them.
lots of love, i have been following you for a long time and youre so talented and beautiful♥
Hooded eyes can make your gaze captivating and intense. I like it
Adriana Lima and J Law
This is such a nice ,positive video ,thankyou for a fresh perspective :-) I honestly never saw my eye shape being a negative thing till all these videos popped up telling me how to 'correct 'my hooded eyes . I think its just an indication of the perfectionist culture we live in , where we're all striving for one perfect look . Its nice to see all these beauties with hooded eyes , makes me feel im in good company !
Thank you very much! x x x Yes, right? All those very famous have hooded eyes )))
...i have been wondering myself why hooded eyes are so dreaded here on youtube!! lol.....i don't think anybody with hooded eyes here look bad, in fact, i think it can be a beautiful feature! to me it looks better than those "celebrity" types who undergo eye lifts thus rendering them perpetually surprised looking....lol....excellent video and i am glad someone finally acknowledged that they are not such a bad feature to have...after all, it could def be worse!! take care xo
Thank you very much! x x x Yes right! They are very sexy from my viewpoint )))
Wow, this video really made me forget about the fear of hooded eyes when I get older (I'm 37 already, but I was a bit worried about hooded eyes in my 40s. Not any more!). I love you for this! 🤗😘
love your new hair cut it makes you look so cute!
+Ann marie White Thank you so much! )))
I used to hate my hooded eyes but i realized they suit my melanchaolic personality
I could listen to you forever ..... You are truly a make up artist , understanding the whole look is a great start .. Thankyou 😘
tbh i dont even wear makeup but i love your perspective on things and the way you frame things like beauty standards and body issues. you're doing a lot of good for some young people out there.
This video made me love my hooded eyes ^^
Thank you very much ))
I have hooded eyes, and I get compliments all the time. Also, you have a very relaxing personality.
Omgosh, this is the second video of yours I watched and I love you already!
Love the way you make commentary and the idea of this video in general!
Thank you so much )))
I never really paid much attention to my eyes or their shape.
In french we don't have a word for hooded eyes. So I didn't know that was a thing, even less a problem.

So many supermodels and runway models have hooded eyes. They make your eyes look more fierce. A unique but beautiful look. Though it makes eyeshadow hard, don’t be self conscious of it! It’s truly striking!
