  • The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, arraign a businessman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, before the Federal High Court in Lagos over allegation of abusing the Naira currency.
Cubana Chief Priest will be arraigned before Justice Kehinde Ogundare on a three-count charge of allegedly spraying and tampering with the Naira notes at a social event contrary to the provisions of the Central Bank Act of 2007.
In the charge filed on April 4 by the EFFC’s prosecutor, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Rotimi Oyedepo, and seven other lawyers representing the executive chairman of the anti-graft Commission, it was alleged that Okechukwu Pascal on February 13, 2024, at Eko Hotel, within the jurisdiction of the court, while dancing during a social event, tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) notes issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same for two hours, and thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.

You ladies are sometimes analysing things with a tinge of emotions. This is the first time there is an enforcement of a law in Nigeria, yet you guys say they should face other issues. When people start going to jail for infringement of the Laws, people will sit up in a lawless society like Nigeria.

This law had been ever since I was growing up or before I was born self, although, nothing had been done before now to caution those who should have been a victim, she should not even say such in a TV station like this, very unprofessional of her. She is used to saying facts, but this one? She is out of context.
I am disappointed at Obiajulu on this. Tope as well was not straight forward.
That we have many issues beyond this doesn't not mean we should not also treat this as well.

Morayo, thumbs up!! Me, I do not agree at all that your dramatization with Tope of giving money amounts to spraying o...NO!!!!!
The giving of money in celebration at parties is so, so much a part of us, engrained in our collective consciousnesses, and honestky, if done in moderation as shown in your dramatization,
    IT'S NOT THAT BAD!!!!!
Doesn't warrant the scapegoating presently seen AT ALL!!!!

If you are celebrating, instead of throwing money at people, maybe you can dance to a school and give scholarship to students or dance to a market, women selling tomato and pepper, maybe you can give them money to buy more stuff, or dance to a mechanic workshop and give them money to buy tools we have to look at this spraying again and may be there are better ways to do this
