i really loved Charles' work, I still do to this day,, but gotta be glad he's not entirely gone, though!! he's taken a new role as the Mario ambassador, going around the world, meeting fans and bringing the joy of Mario with people (as stated on the announcement by Nintendo)
This animation really highlights how charismatic Martinet is and how much he cares about the characters. I really really really hope the rumors about Martinet being recasted are not true.
It needed correcting. You can't put a comma there. Those are two independent clauses. You cannot connect them using a comma. You can use a period or a semicolon. I haven't heard anything about him retiring. Nintendo seemed to have tried to make it sound like he was. Probably to prevent the wrath of angry fans on the internet. They don't want people to stop buying their games.
@@tomlabaffstudio1693 yeah, not long ago an announcement and a follow-up video was made by Nintendo saying that Charles was giving up the role of voicing the Mario/Wario bros, and now instead taking on the role of 'Mario Ambassador'... whatever that means...
Got to meet him at Comic Con a few years back. Such a nice guy! Made all our childhoods just a little better. :) And yeah, truth be told, even in real life not in front of a camera, he's a pretty enthusiastic guy who clearly loves voicing Mario.
But that's the thing, if they found someone or maybe a couple of people who could possibly be "Mario", they 100% would have said just that if Martinet really did show up as late as he says.
This was awesome. Super Mario is my favourite series of all time and Charles does a great job at voicing Mario and crew. To think I was at most 9 or 10 when I first heard him as Mario in Mario 64 and he’s still voicing him today in new games I’m enjoying at 37. I’d love to meet him one day.
This is so adorable! The way you animate this looks like something out of Pixar or maybe even like... Like you worked on the Mario movie or something! Edit: YOU WORKED AT DISNEY!? NO WONDER IT LOOKS SO GOOD!!

This actually hits harder now for me because Charles Martinet voice of Mario has inspired me for years and was one of the reasons why i love Nintendo i have a lot of mario things and somehow he was my idol in a way that it makes me even more happier then i am today listening to his voice really makes me happy no matter where Charles goes i'll still love his Mario luigi and Wario voices until the end!
call it weird. but part of me wishes that I could've actually been there to witness the first ever audition for mario just to see how magical it was to hear the first ever voice for him come to charles martinet's mind. I feel like it would've been an amazing time
I remember first watching an interview of Charles Martinet telling this story several years ago on a CZcams video. I always found this story of his wholesome. It’s unfortunate that he’s no longer the voice of Mario but I will always adore and appreciate his voice of Mario and the other various characters throughout my childhood and into my young adulthood. I’m still amazed to this day that he also voiced Paarthurnax from the Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim, he has such wonderful voice range.
What a good, hard working, amazing man who is now roaming the world with his classic mr. jump man voice onward to be the best ambassador in history making people smile were ever he goes. Wahoo! 🍄 🏃♂️ 🐢
And the funny thing? At the time (1994], they were just looking for someone to voice a real-time 3D Mario at the video game trade shows. He was just so good that they made him _the_ voice of Mario. Everything from _Mario's FUNdamentals_ (PC CD-ROM version) to _Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope_ has Martinet's magic in it. Absolutely. Legendary.
my favorite charles martinet story is also my favorite miyamoto story. basically, mario 64 was the only time charles went to japan to record the voicelines, and he, among other annoying but ultimately harmless behaviors, wouldn’t stop doing the mario voice around the nintendo offices. when it came time to record the damage sound, charles kept making it sound too cartoony, and so miyamoto went into the booth, walked up to charles, and PUNCHED HIM IN THE GUT MID-TAKE! and the best part is, that take was actually what was used in-game!
really nice job on the animation bro. LOOKS GREAT. also the random changing between characters charles voiced were perfectly done! ITS REALLY GOOD., and thank you for showing us all this :)
i got to meet charles at a convention a few years ago and he is the sweetest person ever!!! you could tell just from talking to him that he loves his job as Mario and loves making people happy. He’d get every kid who asked to do a picture with him to do the ‘yahoo!’ jump lol
Correctly if I'm wrong, but didn't Nintendo Channel posted a video had the two hosts talked to Charles Martinet and he explained it how he got the part of Mario when one of the Nintendo employees came over and had a mic and a device in the bag, then he later founds out they were recording his voice lines to show Shigure Miyamoto and the rest of the team?
