- Joe Farnsworth (d), Peter Washington (b) and Dave Kikowski (p) are pillars of an NYC elite of artists with pedigrees such as the late Pharoah Sanders, The Jazz Messengers and Roy Haynes' Band. This gig took place at the legendary Velvet Note in Atlanta on 10/14/2022.
Wow! With Joe you always get your Farnsworth.
It was a pleasure to see him play up close. He was using my cymbals and snare drum for this gig. They’ve never sounded better!
@@HarryJoiner Wow! Amazing. Like you say, up close must have been incredible. I have never seen any drummer switch back and forth from brushes to sticks like that, ever, and I have seen a ton of drummers live over the last 35 or so years!

That’s decades of experience right there. So creative and free. You da Man, Joe!
The big thing is the finesse he gets at those speeds, he's really got the art of controlling his volume down to a tee.

I love the journey Joe takes us on with his solo changing feels, tempos, and textures.
Notice how he is dancing in his chair while soling. He's feeling everything, not just playing mindless chops.

Shreds indeed! What kind of cymbals did you have up there then? Interesting how he's not using his left foot so much. I often feel pressure to keep it active but this sounds great.
