  • Changing of the Guard in Copenhagen on Thursday 4th January 2024 supported by the music of The Royal Life Guards Corps of Drums (Den Kongelige Livagrde Tambourkorps). The parade was due to feature the Livgarde Musikkorps however due to tretarous icy conditions, the decision was made for just the Tambourkorps to parade.
I didn’t get to hear the march they played out of the barracks but here are the marches from the parade in the following order:
    Marching to Amalienborg Palace:
    00:00 Thuros Tambourmarch
    01:37 Laus Tappenstreg
    02:40 British Grenadiers
03:13 Svensk Polka & Undan Ur Vägen
04:35 Der Kommer Altid En Sporvogn
    06:30 It’s A Long Way To Tipperary
    08:17 Quand Madelon
    09:53 Fullings March
Changing of the Guard Ceremony at Amalienborg Palace:
    10:41 Washington Post (1st advance)
11:48 Flag March (marching out the colour)
    12:25 Omskiftermarch (Change of Guards)
13:18 Major Søren Østergaards Tambourmarch (palace concert)
    15:22 Københavner March (2nd advance)
17:59 Flag March (marching back the colour)
    March back to Barracks:
    18:32 Københavner March
19:30 Der Kommer Altid En Sporvogn
    21:48 La Réjouissance
The parade is led by Tambourmajor Emil Andersen Ravn and they are playing their special gala drums because of the New Years Levee celebrations and events that were happening in Copenhagen that day. Please see my previous video for coverage of the mounted procession where Queen Margrethe II was accompanied by The Danish Guard Hussars Regiment on her final New Year's Levee before abdication one week later. I do not follow the guard always back to their barracks at Gothersgade100 this time as I wanted to catch the return mounted procession. The video can be viewed here: • Danish Guards Hussar R...
    Personal note:
Sorry about the wind noise in this video. As previously mentioned the weather in Copenhagen was very wintery and had a -4 temperature throughout this parade!

Another Spiffing Video Sir! I Absolutely love Den Kongelige Livgardes Musikkorps, utter shame they weren't on Parade. But, the Tambourkorps is equally as good. They're all Excellent Musicians! It's always lovely to see them featured on your fantastic Channel. Well done to them!! I must say the dusting of snow on the ground makes it seem more magical and movie like. Great job MBE!

Thanks very much as always Delvin! Quite a shame they were unable to parade. I was also in Copenhagen yesterday and the weather was still too cold for a full military wind band to play, it was -8 so sadly I missed them again! Glad I was able to feature the Tambourkorps on the channel though and this time with their special gala drums due to it being the day of the Danish Queen's final New Year's Levee (featured on my other video with the mounted trumpet corps) and those drums are not usually seen worn with the regular blue Life Guards uniforms! You are right though, the snow makes it look magical!

Hello@@MilitaryBandsEverywhere , You're most welcome Sir! Shame about you missing them once again! I do hope you kept warm! At least we can go back and watch last years Musikkorps videos on your channel. Those Gala Drums are absolutely Stunning! The sound is even more impressive! It's wonderful to see them get the recognition they all deserve, special through this wonderful channel! Glad I wasn't the only thinking this looked Magical!

    Hi @MilitaryBandsEverywhere
Does the march take place on any days between the 8th - 14th of April?

Hi, it is hard to tell in advance. The full parade with the Life Guards Musikkorps will parade when the King is in residence in Amalienborg and the weather is above freezing. The Tambourkorps (as seen in this video) will parade if the King’s children are in residence. If no royalty is present in Copenhagen the guard simply march on their own in silence. In short, there will be a parade on those days, but it depends on which sort. Perhaps contact the band directly if you were interested in seeing them to ask what dates they are scheduled to play at the moment?
